Communication is awful and very unprofessional (expect to be hung up on), maintenance schedules are constantly changed, and they've claimed work was completed when it clearly wasn't. Had to chase them down and verify whether we're even getting the services we're paying for. Shady business practices and zero accountability. I would not recommend this company to anyone. Used them for both my business locations for 5 years. Many times I found myself having to complain to get things done. When I complained it was just another excuse. Most recently I asked them to remove some palm frawns that had obviously been dead for 6 months. They told me it was too high up and there techs couldn't do it. Two young ladies at my business heard the tech say he couldn't do it and proceeded to remove them with ease. When I said to cancel "Brianna" just said sure all done. I can spend my money elsewhere. These guys are awesome! I usually only leave bad reviews because I'm pissed (bad habit), but they have definitely inspired me to take the time to write a great one. I've been using them over the last 6 months after they bought out my previous landscapers. I was hesitant as the previous guys were so inconsistent and I constantly had to monitor when they were coming. This hasn't even been close to the case with Higher Ground. Not only are they very consistent and reliable, but their crews go above and beyond to collect every bit of debris in my yard packed behind my AC unit, or neatly raking my gravel driveway. They are also very proactive on communication, such as when they got rained out and had to delay service. It's this kind of stuff that really takes a burden off a homeowner. I also appreciate how they took my request for afternoon service since all the people in my house work late nights and don't want to be woken by a blower out their window at 7am. From the reviews I have seen/read on Higher Ground, anyone would expect professionalism, and a level of customer care that exceeded the average landscaping company; I was highly mistaken. From the recent rain, my yard's weed growth was insane, and needed to be taken care of. A Higher Ground representative sent me a reasonable quote, ensuring me the weeds would be pulled/trimmed, if they were over 6" (which they all where), then sprayed to prevent regrowth. Two technicians arrived at my house the morning of 2/9. To my disbelief, after 12 minutes, I see them get back into their car and drive away. I go outside and realize the fruits of their labor were nothing more than quickly spraying all the weeds; nothing was trimmed/pulled. I immediately reach out to the representative to express my frustration, resulting in the technicians coming back to complete the job in the way it should of been done to begin with. The representative then cancelled my service, acknowledging this would be the level of work I would expect every month. A shame that a local family business like this lacks basic work integrity & customer service. Do not waste your money here. My back and front yard do not even have grass; so simple to maintain and they still dropped the ball. If you're looking for mediocre work and customer service, this is the company for you. read more

Great company, great staff. We hired them for a couple of small landscaping maintenance tasks and a fairly big refresh, mostly for our front yard. They were wonderful to work with each time - honest, reliable, great problem solvers, follow through, and price. We love the work they did and were blown away by their ethics and thoughtfulness. Hard to find anyone this good! They did a full redo of our front yard irrigation, removed dead/dying plants, planted a couple dozen new ones, added a thick layer of gravel, replaced our sprinkler controller, and replaced and fixed landscape lighting. In the back, they replaced valves and added a couple dozen emitters (so we won't have to hand water trees). Everything looks amazing and works great! read more

Hired them to reseed my lawns and they just charged a card they kept the number on from a previous job without asking me before. That irked me and found it strange they don't contact their customers to ok payment and just assume they have the right to run any payment they have on file, but whatever. Then they came for the scalping and left my side gate wide open when they left. I sent the owner a message letting him know that I had a dog almost get out, he said he'd leave a note on the account to make sure it's shut. So the next visit for seeding is done and they left the side gate open again! This time my dog DID escape and luckily we had a neighbor bring them back but it could have turned out so much worse. read more

Unfortunately my first and only experience with Higher Ground was a frustrating one. I contacted Hunter and and we communicated a date and time for a yard trimming/cleaning. Friday at 9am. Friday came, and by 10:30 I still hadn't heard anything. So I texted Hunter to inquire. He stated that he would be to our house "midday". Later that afternoon he called to say that his current job was running late and could we reschedule. We rescheduled for the following Tuesday at "midday" once again. At 2:30 I received a text stating that he was running late (again). I asked when we might expect a crew. 90 minutes later I received a reply stating that we'd have to reschedule again. At this point I was frustrated from wasting two days at home waiting for a service that wasn't coming. I cancelled. To be fair, I haven't received service from higher ground and cannot comment on their quality of work. Only that I was completely frustrated with the poor communication and poor customer service that left me feeling unimportant. read more

I hired HGL to do the maintenance of my yard about 2 months ago. I was looking for a landscaping company that would actually do a good job cleaning and maintaining a yard. I have a small yard and it's well taken care of by myself. I enjoy gardening and do a lot of the trimming/pruning/vitamins myself. I have several rose bushes and they are always healthy and blooming. My neighbors often stop by to look at them/compliment them. HGL was very professional and responsive in the beginning of our negotiations. One of my first and clear requests was that no debris were pushed under my bushes/shrubs. That is important to me. I like my beautiful plants to be clean. I was told that would not be a problem. I have had about 4 services (biweekly) now. The crew does a good job trimming the big plants. That is not the case for rest of their work. After they come I always have to go after and pick up leaves that are not fully removed from the yard, debris and the blown leaves are found under my bushes/shrubs, my plants have not been trimmed off the ground as requested a couple of times, my roses and other plants have broken branches, lots of tree trimming debris were left inside my agave plant, the gravel is left revolved by their blowing machines (literally roles are left on the ground), a dripping line was damaged by their trimming saw. I am unhappy with this service obviously. I decided to contact Hunter, the manager. As soon as I mention I was unhappy with the service he ignored my messages. He had been very responsive to messages up to this point. I had no intentions to leave a bad review for the company. I wanted to fix the problem. The irresponsiveness led me to this. If I hire someone who is supposed to be an expert in the field, I want quality. Hopefully this can be used as a constructive feedback for their future clients. read more
