I contacted Bob by email to get a quote to powder coat handles for our front gate - the coating had worn off of the ones we've had for 8 years. High-Tech Coatings was the most reasonable quote of the three I requested locally and he responded quickly. I brought in my items on a Thursday and got them back the following Tuesday so they were also very fast. They had a problem with the handles but it was not their fault. The gate handle hardware had been superglued (or something crazy!) so they did their best. In trying to remove the hardware they broke an internal piece - again not their fault! They were able to fix it. They told us because they broke it that we didn't need to paid but we told them that it wasn't their fault. They ended up giving us a very steep discount which was very generous of them. I told them that we appreciated that and that we would write a nice review and if we needed to powder coat anything again we'd be back. Wanted to try a new powder coating shop and decided to give these guys a try. I dropped off a set of wheels to get done in a gloss white, something super simple and basic. I'm no stranger to the powder coating world, so when I got my wheels back, I noticed the finish looked a little off. lots of orange peel, and also the underside of my wheels were extremely lightly coated almost like they were trying to save money by not putting a proper and full layer of coating. Because of this, I also can see that they did not use any primer, which is very subpar for a powder coating shop not to use a primer base. I figured it was no big deal and use the wheels anyways. Well, after one week of driving, the wheels had started chipping, which is not normal for a powder coat. After speaking with some experts in the industry, it looks like this can happen when the wheel is not properly prepped or cured. Needless to say, I will never be going back here. I would not recommend this place to anyone that cares about their items. There are so many better shops to choose from especially in Southern California do your research and look elsewhere. read more

I have been working with Bob for over 25 years and he is a genuine business owner and person. His staff is also very professional. Juan always replies promptly to emails and Santiago has the shop running efficiently. They always get my items done quickly and have had much better results than other shops. Powder coating is not a easy service to perform and there are many many variables come into play and some of them are unforseen. Some of the reviews took place before he purchased the business. Being a small business I've had struggles finding a powdercoater that won't over charge me and drag me out on lead times because of my low volume of work. I used high tech coatings for the first time last week after being recommended by a friend and I can tell you they will be getting a lot of my business from this day forward. Terrible customer service. Even after they have your items you have to repeatedly phone them. Left a message with a live person everyday for a week before I got through. They ruined parts of my chairs and was dismissed via text with "never had that occur" - well it did this time. That was the last communication I received before they shamelessly charged my credit card. This was second and last time using them. I had issues the first time also but let it go. Needed to get some ceramic coating done on some exhaust parts for my Harley so I called around and this company had the most reasonable prices I could find. Dropped off my parts on Monday morning and to my surprise they were done the next day!!! Everyone was nice and so far the work looks great! I took my motorcycle into get the exhaust re-coated got a quote for one price ,went to bring it in and was told that it would be $80 more when I asked about this change in price the owner said the the technician doing the quote didn't know what he was talking about and would not honor the price quoted .the owner said just take it somewhere else,shady business practices and to be honest the owner has zero customer service skills. read more

I'm happy to see I'm not the only person that thinks High Tech Coatings does a great job. I've used Dan and his crew for quite a few jobs on various occasions. Exhaust manifolds and various car parts. Used them for a high temp coating on the manifolds and it turned out great. Dan and his staff are always pleasant and the work turns out great. I've used a lot of powder coating places in Orange County prior to finding High Tech. I haven't used anyone else since. High Tech has been the best so far. This place has been around for a long time and the staff knows what they are doing. They also have the ability to do large jobs like car and truck frames. A lot of other shops can't accommodate larger items. read more

Last year I had some old painted chipping patio chairs. High Tech picked them up from my home, stripped them, clean and powder coated them. Then delivered back to my house. They look brand new. I saved hundreds of dollars not having to buy new chairs. This year I had them do the same with my detailed, iron front gate. It looks beautiful. Again I save a lot of money. They called me and stopped by to make sure I was pleased. I will definitely use them again. read more

DO NOT TAKE UR MOTORCYCLE PARTS HERE!! They coated surfaces I specifically told them could nor be coated ...so all my gasket surfaces for all my motor parts are now coated and when I brought it up to the owner he told me to take a file to it and tgats to be expected when getting powdercoating done...sorry buddy but hand filing all thoes surfaces on a brand new harley where all thoes surfaces need to stay true....not gonna happen...not to mention all tge large parts I gor done were really really lumpy/heavy orange peel. And he said tgat was the best tgey could do. And I pointed out a very visible scratch and he said I did it by wiping it with my hand!! This place is a complete joke..basically im out 400 bucks...dont waste ur time here read more

This is the second time I've had High-Tech Coatings prep & powder coat an iron bed for me. The first time was back in the late 1980s -- that bed still looks as good as the day they painted it. I took in a second iron bed this spring to be restored for an historic house museum -- headboard, footboard, and side rails. The work is high quality. The paint selection allowed us to get the color & finish we wanted. HTC was on budget, and on schedule -- very important for a nonprofit with grant-funded work. The bed looks fabulous!
