Absolutely charming! If you're looking for an upscale celebratory dinner this is it. Cabin like homey feel with excellent service and food. We started w Nola shrimp - Cajun flavor was great, buttery, goodness. They brought out complimentary bread and shared the specials of the night with us. The roll and butter were warm and delicious. I ordered the halibut entree special - comes w soup or salad and sides. A lot of food and everything was cooked perfectly. The risotto was a little under but the flavor was exceptional. My husband ordered the ribeye, cooked perfectly to his liking and the garlic butter gives it so much flavor, also comes with soup/salad and side. You really get attentive staff, basically a 4 course meal, and a really special evening. We enjoyed ourselves!!

We had our two year wedding anniversary dinner here and it was the perfect setting. We were seated upstairs and we had a nice view of the garden. The drinks and food were all delicious. This type of quality of food and service is what you'd expect in a bigger city like Nashville where we love so we were very impressed. The prices were reasonable as well given the huge portions. We would definitely return!

Really love the house. Not sure if the 'history' is real or not but a truly remarkable house. Ambiance was good. Food was good. Service was good. But, I can't say it was the best I've ever had. But definitely an upgrade from other experiences we've had in this town

This place has been in my bucket list since I moved to Middle Tennessee and it did not disappoint! I love how there's a rich history (building supposedly financed by Al Capone), and the outside and inside ambiance are beautiful and elegant! We had to wait a bit for our reservation, but the hostess was very accommodating and gave us some water while we waited. Plus, we weren't in a rush! Come to this restaurant hungry, because they give you a lot of food, but we weren't complaining! We started with the Caesar salad and the lobster bisque. The lobster bisque was incredible, creamy, and rich. I ordered the filet mignon with Parmesan truffle fries and my boyfriend got a special that night which was the chicken madeira. My steak was cooked perfectly and melted in my mouth. The mushroom wine sauce that came with it was delicious! The chicken madeira was also delicious, with a cream wine sauce to top it off. We then shared the molten chocolate lava cake which was to die for! It came with some delicious vanilla ice cream which in my opinion is a must with molten chocolate cake! Our waitress was super busy, but did a great job waiting all of the tables. She was so sweet and was a really hard worker. If you're in the Monteagle area, I highly recommend stopping here!

We have eaten here on two special occasions we were celebrating. The building is beautiful and so are the grounds. Now, the food is phenomenal! We've eaten at many high end restaurants across the U.S., and High Point beats them all! The flavors, presentation and quality is unmatched. You won't be disappointed. We are life long patrons because we simply cannot get enough of their amazing menu. Staff and chefs are top notch!

Local food lover here! We've had the pleasure of enjoying many delicious dinners at High Point. My favorite things are the duck appetizer, NY Strip or Ribeye and the cheese grits. The history, ambiance, friendly servers, and amazing food make for a fantastic meal or date night spot.

New York Strip, Lobster tail, loaded baked potato. Delicious!

We've eaten at High Point several times. Had dinner there Friday evening. We continue to love this restaurant. We started with the New Orleans shrimp appetizer. Delicious. For entrées, my wife had the grilled salmon, and I had the New York strip and lobster tail. Entrées come with salad and potato. The Caesar salads were excellent. The basket of bread is a nice touch. For entrées, my wife had the grilled salmon, and I had the New York strip and lobster tail, with loaded baked potatoes. I can't think of a thing I would change. Everything was just right. Our server, Darla, was one of the best I've ever seen. She made the evening an even better experience. We love the history and ambience of the restaurant. I like to tease them about wanting to tour Al Capone's tunnels underneath the restaurant. Look forward to returning soon!

Amazing. Service was attentive, accommodating, and went out of their way to offer recommendations and even made our cocktails extra special (aka strong AF). Located in this out of the way gorgeous stone "mansion" built in the 30's by Al Capone for his girlfriend! Such cool history to go with delicious food! Everything was spectacular! I had grilled salmon with a spicy orange glaze, blackberry salad and we shared fried green tomatoes. Hubby had rib eye and said it was excellent! We'd definitely return!

I was surprised to get in on short notice but it was a Thu night 7 pm. I had the Oysters , steak dinner. Everything was delicious and in generous portions. Mid range price and exceptional service! Highly recommend and the atmosphere was amazing!

This is by far the best steak house in Monteagle. The building was home to Al capone's secretary and mistress

We ended up talking about this meal all weekend long. Our friends Tyler and Lindsay have come multiple times and they guided us through the menu and what they recommended. We ordered: - house sourdough - chicken liver mousse - sugar baby watermelon salad - pappardelle - duck breast - half chicken x2 Every single thing was amazing! The vibes were cute, the service was great. Such a hidden gem but would absolutely come back to check out other seasonal menus.

The space is attractive, though it's far from being any sort of "tavern". It's rather loud, industrial. The worst aspect of the space are the tables for 2, which are small cocktail tables, really sized to hold a couple drinks, not dinner for 2. One is left with the impression that they're more interested in fitting as many diners as possible into the space rather than providing a fine dining experience. So much so that the wait staff apologized for the table size several times. Menu varies with the season, though we found most items on the online "sample" menu were on the dinner menu that night as well. Roasted oysters were plated very attractively, the oysters were plump, and the topping tasty, though several of mine were refrigerator cold - clearly made in advance and not properly heated for serving. Starter of sourdough bread with chili oil. The bread was wonderfully rustic, the chili oil was actually garlic oil. For my main, I had the "signature" trout. Pleasant enough, a nicely cooked filet swimming in a brothy sauce. Accompanied by a few small rounds of potato, what amounted to a single thinly sliced fingerling, I left hungry and considered stopping for a burger on the way home. The wife was underwhelmed with the duck. Kudos for providing an upscale dinner destination in Sewanee. Though not an option that we'd consider revisiting.

The restaurant is located behind the namesake lodge and has ample parking. They had a nice fireplace going on outside due to chilly weather. Inside was a super cozy southern vibe kind of a place. There were a lot of music memorabilia on the walls. The live music was really good. Randy Finchum kicked off the music and played original and sometimes hilarious songs. He made sure to crack a lot of jokes and stories between the songs. For food we tried fried pickles, fried okra, fried brussels sprouts, and sausage with onions and peppers. Yep...no sight of greens but man was everything delicious. Also, they have cheap beers available but only in bottles.
