My son has been taking Martial arts here since august and he loves it. He is the younger of the kids in his class and the instructors are so good with him. On days hes feeling shy they allow me on the mat with him. Love the way they are with all kids. Its teaching respect and discipline while having fun. Always walk by this location and always see many kids inside. A couple of weeks ago I decided to sign my son up and see how good this place is. So far, so good! I got the new year package which included the child's uniform and a month of classes, two days a week for $99. We are doing the Saturday and Sunday morning classes, half hour each class. They start on time, disciplined from beginning to the end of the classes. The instructors are great with the kids, high energy and keep my little one's attention the entire time. They do a few exercises then break up into groups, depending on the child's belt level, and practice taekwondo skills. They take two short water breaks and keep going. Each class ranges from $15 - $24 each. I am pleased with how things are going so far and how excited my son is from when we get there to when we leave. He looks forward to each class. Love them! My son has been going for over a year since he was 4. He always looks forward to class, and even on his cranky days when he doesn't, he ALWAYS comes out with a huge smile on his face. It's in a great location, I usually do some grocery shopping or just work in the Dunkin donuts right next door. He'll come out and find me there, we share a donut, then head home. The instructions are amazing, so patient, professional, and adaptive. There are a LOT of kids in there some days and I don't know how they don't just pull their hair out and yell all day lol. But at home, all I need to do is tell my son I'm reporting his behavior to Instructor Jane or Grandmaster Suh, and he straightens out. It's like having the threat of Santa there all year round lol. But in all seriousness, they do learn discipline, respect, and patience. Any place that stressed those factors more, are winners to me. And yes it is pricey, but all these kid activities are. I'm happy to be happy spending my money on a place that I feel deserve all of it and more for what they do for the community. Oh! And they have Fun night where they watch & feed your kids (siblings allowed) for a small fee (waaay cheaper than a sitter and at least you know them) for a few hrs so you can have date night! This school is amazing! I have been a student here for 5+ years. Their events, Staff and professionalism continue to amaze me. The owners, instructors, masters and helpers are all amazing at instructing the children. The Grand Master is always very positive and professional. The positive atmosphere is great for children and adults of all ages. I've moved across the country numerous times and have been to all sorts of Taekwondo dojangs. Not so professional at teaching. They only have ONE instructor teaching 20 kids & masters own little girls (maybe they 11yrs old? Or 12) are teaching other kids. Grand master Seo is sitting in the office all the time not teaching students. Never said hello to the parents. I don't see how kids are learning respect fro these disrespectful masters or instructors. read more

Very professional during all interactions with various members of the school. They also have a deep concern for their students in and outside of training. Instructor Jane is amazing to work with and I come out of class feeling energized and feeling great. They are very encouraging of your aspirations and really help you reach them. The school went above and beyond during COVID lockdown to provide classes and keep the students actively learning. During the peak of Covid we were doing classes virtually online. The instructors were just as engaged in teaching the classes online as of you were present at the Center. The key to a great school is the discipline and respect they teach and instill in their students as they yell out "No Sir! Yes Sir, No Ma'am, Yes Ma'am, Thank you sir. Thank you Ma'am!" My son has been taking martial arts classes for almost a year now and he loves it. He has done very well with his instructors, specially instructor Jane. She has been so dedicated to my son and understands his needs 100% of the time. She cares for him as he were her own and always lets me know exactly how his progress is going and what he needs to work on. As parents, we need to have patience with our children's learning and the instructors here have plenty of patience. If a technique is not working for a child, they try it again in a different way. I have seen the way they work with my son and I love that he has the opportunity to enjoy his experience. I love the location of the martial arts school as I live nearby. There is always parking, as well and other shops around as I wait for my son to finish his classes. I'd recommend parents to definitely try them out! read more

My son started with High Performance Martial arts at age 5 and has fell in love with the technique and family! He started right before the pandemic and unfortunately had to attend his first year of classes online. We were so grateful for the adaptability of the instructors to modify their delivery of classes virtual and still keep my son engaged. My son attended his virtual class daily and utilized the online resources to practice and perfect his technique which allowed him to progress through the belts appropriately. We were so proud of the dedication and focus he demonstrated even in such a chaotic time in the world, his Taekwondo training kept him centered and motivated. Now my son is 7 and has recently achieved his Red Belt. He attends 3 times a week and has the desire to become a junior instructor. He loves to assist with helping the younger classmates perfect their techniques and develop self confidence. We have had the wonderful opportunity to meet all the instructors throughout our journey and find consistent dedication to the children and their development from each one. Master Suh, Instructor Jane, Master Christian, Master Billy, Trinity and Skye all have influenced my son to always be his very best self and support his peers. His demeanor and personality were all impacted by his training and we are constantly getting compliments on his exemplary behavior and focus at his young age. I can't express enough our love and appreciation to the instructors and the program and how much support they have given my son on his path. We currently attend the Bayside location but I highly recommend any of the schools! I can't wait to start our daughter as soon as she turns the appropriate age! Master Suh, Instructor Jane and the rest of the staff push the students to their maximum potential in each class while maintaining discipline throughout. My son has improved drastically in the past year not only in Taekwondo but in his schoolwork and other activities as well. Love High Performance. They do a great job keeping classes fun while still teaching the kids skills and maintaining order and discipline without yelling. Classes and expectations are age appropriate and adaptable, so my 4, 6, and 9 year old can all take part and feel like they are being challenged and succeeding. They are also great at supporting kids when they need support and pushing them when they need to be pushed. Master Suh, Master Billy and Instructor Jane are all great at giving individual feedback and attention, even in crowded classes. Instructor Jane in particular is super encouraging and warm with the kids. And when my daughter was feeling anxious about a belt test, Master Suh went over her form with her over and over until she was confident enough to perform in front of the other students. They have worked with us over the years as our schedule and needs have changed, allowing us to attend virtually as long as we needed during COVID and switching our schedule when family obligations made it difficult for us to attend. After attending both their classes and seminar have finally found a Tae Kwon Do school that is not commercialized or simply doesn't know what they are doing. My sons go to High Performance in Bayside. I won a trial week for my kids through a school raffle and it was not a mistake. The instructors are all so helpful and they remember every kid's name !! I can't even tell you which instructors are better because they are all equally good. My boys love the classes and it helped build their confidence. They spoke up more than in any other classes and they are willing to participate. Every time they move up a belt, they are so proud of themselves. We are onto sparring levels and I feel that it would help them so much in self defense. They also hold special events which include parents and the children for bonding. My four year old son has been going to HP TKD for about 7 months - I'm a big fan and so is he. Overall, it's a friendly but disciplined environment (a surprisingly difficult mix to get right!) Pros: - Staff is amazing. Some of the most positive people I've ever met...and the positivity rubs off on the kids. It's so genuine, the kids can take a little 'tough love' to help keep them disciplined. - SO CLEAN! Not grimy or run down - Accomodating. I truly believe they want what's best for my son. They have a lot of experience working with different personalities, and I really see them sharpen and encourage each individual child. My son is pretty extroverted, (great in social situations, not great at 'sit still and quiet time' ... this is especially difficult for him with other students around). I see them find ways to allow him to engage with the class, but structure it so he learns to wait his turn, and wait for an appropriate time. It's skillful! I have seen them find non-stressful ways to draw out more timid/introverted children. - I'd say the price is fair. It's not cheap...but we did a trial at Tiger Shulman, and it was very cookie cutter, and didn't have the same 'friendly discipline' atmosphere. I'd take this over that any day. Cons: - There are quite a few extras that you can't help but shell out for -- just be aware. And you can say no, but it's not always easy. Breaking a board at class ($2/ board, $3/board for more advanced). Belt tests ($65 each). Tournaments and seminars .... it can add up. But I never felt bad saying no when I had to. - Belt tests. I'm not a martial arts expert, but my son is already on the yellow belt with black stripe, and testing for the orange this month. They tell you when your child is ready. It seems pretty fast to me, but maybe this is the way they do it. This is kind of a mini-con. An uninformed possible con...haha. Overall - I really recomend this. And if you are concerned about your child having trouble waiting his turn, or being too extroverted or too introverted...be honest with the staff when you sign up. :) Good luck!! read more
