I am naturally a shy person so it's hard for me to make friends people at this gym. Make assumptions way too quickly especially the coaches and the veterans that go there like I said my favorite gym I've ever been to I will never come back to you guys again or recommend you very disappointing

Everyone was amazed that we were able to find a drop-in gym for kids, but these guys made it no big deal. They were communicative via email, welcoming upon arrival, and even recommended a more suitable class for my kid. Many of the parents also practice and from what I've seen, the teachers know what they're doing. They use humor to engage the kids, never screaming or forcing them. We would happily join this gym again if we're ever in the area.

The adult classes are fun too. If you are new, you don't have to worry about not fitting in or being behind. The coaches will train you separately and you will quickly be with the main group, and the other students will support you, because that's the type of environment the school has. With BJJ, you learn the moves step by step, and at the end, you will understand and learn the final move! It's an extremely well prepared class. All these classes, as often as you want, will make you a well rounded fighter, or just pick Muay Thai or BJJ.

Rob G is a highly decorated IBJJF medalist, and has trained under BJJ/MMA legends such as Renzo Gracie, Sean Alvarez, and receiving his black belt under none other than Nelson Monteiro of Gracie Barra fame. Rob G brings a unique perspective to his instruction, making many of the techniques that he teaches instantly "click" for his students, myself included, and easily absorbed. One very helpful aspect of his classes is that his warm-ups will directly correspond to the moves that will be taught in class. His passion and talent is clearly evident through his students and their successes. What especially stands out is the PERSONAL attention and care that he provides to each of his students - whether they are a high level belt that trains with him everyday, or a low level blue belt such as myself. After a seminar he gave at the Westchester ECU academy, I messaged him on Facebook with some questions about a few moves that he taught. What do I get in response? A step-by-step personal VIDEO that he made for me, demonstrating and addressing each of my questions! There is a solid group of consistent female students here, some who have been training under Professor Rob and Coach Vianca since their childhood/teen years, that continue to come here and train as adults at their own will. That alone showed me that this was a tight-knit, safe training environment, and was probably my #1 motivation for deciding to commit my weeknights here. Compared to other academies I have visited, Professor Rob spends a lot more time going into detail when explaining drills, and gives individualized attention to his students. He keeps a close eye on us when we spar, and then tailors the class based on what we need to improve on. You will not get lost in the crowd here, unlike some bigger academies. During class, he accommodates to every skill level and age group, beginner to advanced. If you are an avid competitor in the sport or just an occasional hobbyist, he will help you regardless. He is an excellent, and honest instructor who cares about you improving, and when need be, is tough and pushes you to be better. See you in class soon.
