While welcoming the girls and working with their current teachers, Ms. Paige incorporates the lessons being taught in the classroom. She has patience and is flexible with her schedule. Her materials are liked by my girls, and her work is appreciated. She works virtually with my girls, and while we would love to meet in person, her work has made a significant impact. Our kids were in their pre-K program, and we were impressed by what they were doing during the year. We were even more impressed after the kids "graduated". At their kindergarten orientation (for the parents), we were given a list of things that the kids would know by the end of the year. The Lucas Ave. Montessori pre-K program essentially taught our kids the entire kindergarten curriculum. In other words, our kids have a great start on their education, thanks to the Lucas AVe. Our daughter's transition to public school has been very easy, she is ahead of many of her peers academically , which has been proof to us that Middle Way ,as well as giving her a wonderful love of learning and social- emotional skills also did a great job preparing her academically! Our years at the Middle Way School were wonderful..they hire excellent teachers and the culture of the school fosters independance, mindfulness and compassion in the kids and our daughter has benefited enormously from having her primary education there. She has a love of learning that I dont think she would have had if we had been in a public school setting for elementary school. I have witnessed how critical the early educational years are to fostering curiosity and fun in learning and Middle Way was excellent for that. We also loved how much outdoor time they get as young children which is so important! We highly recommend Middle Way to families, it was a wonderfully inclusive and educational space for our daughter to flourish and with that great foundation she seems to be set up well to continue her educational journey.

Our experience at Middle Way School has been very positive. This is our second year and our…read moredaughter is in first grade. MWS's approach is a very nice balance of academics and experiential learning. The children are given lots of outdoor time as well as a complete afternoon outdoor program where they learn wilderness skills, gardening and play with their peers. The teachers are phenomenal and the academic curriculum is structured to meet children where they are as they can move between class rooms and are not stuck in one grade, the school hires wonderful staff. Our one concern going in to the school is that although we are spiritual people we do not consider ourselves "religious" and we wondered about how Buddhism would be represented in the school. So far we are very happy with the Buddhist philosophy and tenants that are foundational to learning at the school and that their has been little in the way of religious doctrine. We feel that our whole family is benefiting from the tools and wisdom my daughter is surrounded by at the school and this also radiates out on the campus of the school that is very sweet and compassionate in it's atmosphere. We are very grateful that Middle Way School has fostered in our daughter a very positive relationship to learning early on. She loves it and that happiness translates back to our home!

What always amazes me is of experiences at this religious education building. I'm neither a fan,…read morenor a non-fan of this place. I've been backed into a neutral corner on this one. It may be the only real separately-housed Catholic religious education building around, but it's hard to say that this place only has religious ed classes for children at times when most children aren't attending regular school and during times when most parents still have to work(so transportation for kids is inadequate. Although our family never really had too bad of a time at making transportation to this school within the time frame alloted, many people we know, seem to have a slight problem with making commitments to religious education for their children(if they chose the Catholic lifestyle). What I can officially complain about, is the cost for all the courses that are required by all children seems to escalate, especially in these desperate times. The prices seem to never decrease and taking all makes the grand total nasty on the family of a limited budget. But when people tend to focus their kids into realizing how involved this really is for them to get a good education in religion(being for them to make most of the required sacraments to have them eventually make their marriage vows), makes this place a seemly reasonable option. But religious education classes aren't all that goes on here. They also have holiday masses and some special Catholic events here inside the "gymnasium" along with a CYO basketball game at inconvenient times, and out the back on one day, their anual church picnic (free to Catholic members-working on honor system). The only problem I've found, is that, for most parents(during holiday masses and special Catholic events here) and most older children who are required to attend, the bathroom about halfway down the main hall, seems to have toilets that are way too low for most adults to use. They seem to be suited for the daycare group(http://www.yelp.com/biz/funshine-nursery-school-red-hook) that exists at the one end of the hall.

This is a great college in upstate New York. I have visited here several years and enjoyed my time…read morethere. The campus has developed over the years with new buildings and restaurants. Every time I come up there is something new. I love seeing the fall foliage here and the bright happy spirits of all the townspeople. It is right next to the wonderful town of New Paltz with its bustling nightlife and restaurants. You get the full college experience in a couple miles. It is easy to walk around and do everything you need. It is far enough to get away from the craziness of the city but still be able to enjoy yourself.

I was accepted to four schools and chose this one, and it was absolutely the right choice. My professors are very supportive, I love my cohort, and our practicum coordinator is great. I had to take undergrad statistics there before applying to the master's program (my bachelor's is in a different subject), and my professor Glenn Geher was really helpful. This might sound hyperbolic, but it's rare in life to have something turn out even better than you hoped. I feel very lucky to be here.
