Maybe the best part of this apartment is the sulfur water: it comes out gray/black only sometimes but it always ALWAYS smells like rotten eggs. You can't drink it or cook with it because the smell still stays on the food you boiled in it. And forget watering your plants or giving water to your animals. Also it is a tiny apartment and the landlord believes that you as the renter of this small apartment should pay for the oil for the entire church! My husband is in the military and is away and this "pastor" has told me to vacate the premises immediately because I refuse to pay a bill without seeing it. Just be warned please, I wish someone had been there to warn me.

Students after freshman year are not guaranteed on-campus housing and therefore many students are faced with problems finding a place to live. The area surrounding campus is rural where housing supply is scarce, unaffordable and inconvenient. Bard is a residential college, however the percentage of its students living on-campus is much lower than other residential colleges. This issue has persisted for years! The administration has failed to address this crisis. I would not recommend enrolling there. The academics might be ok, but there will be no campus life whatsoever. Do not just take my word for it. Google it. Do your research.

It's a gorgeous spot, with plenty of animals to see and engage with, and if you're not careful, you may get a pig who smears mud all over your butt. That's really part of the charm though, and mud washes off. The folks that own and work here are super nice in my experience (shout out to the director who had the exact same shoes as my four year old - in a different size). They make it a fun and educational experience for everyone, but especially little kids. As a general warning though, they make a harder push for veganism than you might expect coming in, so if that sort of pressure isn't your thing, you may want to avoid the walking tours.
