All of our property has been in storage since we quickly vacated, and we do not know what was impacted by the water intrusion and mold, or what needs to be cleaned, restored, or destroyed. It is arguably the most stressful situation I have ever experienced. We have been forced to deal many vendors during this process, most of which looked for the easiest way to get the job done, cutting corners and providing horrible customer service. This was not the case with Katya. We reached out to Katya to help restore an original painting that was on a wall impacted by water and mold. She is a breath of fresh air. Her professionalism, passion for art, thoroughness and detailed process in restoring an important chapter in my life, is deeply appreciated! For all of you art lovers, history buffs and those who love the emotions of art, if you need any of your important pieces of your collection cleaned or restored, I highly recommend Katya! Not only was Katya amazing at bringing my painting back to its original beauty, she has an amazing character and is a true pleasure to work with. Her process was seamless, she explained everything in detail, and delivered everything she promised. Thank you, Katya! I truly appreciate you!

Eve recently completed a miraculous restoration for me. However, it has nothing to do with art but…read moremiraculous none the less. I am a tool collector. I recently stumbled across a very rare tap and die set. If you don't know what that is, it doesn't matter. The set comes in a green plastic box with a yellow silk-screened label. Sometime in the past, someone used a neon pink paint pen and scrawled "METRIC" across the yellow label. Every attempt I made to remove the pink paint, also started to remove the yellow paint. I thought, "who might be able to fix this without decreasing the value of my treasure?" Someone skilled in art restoration. I googled "Art Restoration" and find there was someone less than a mile from my house. I contacted Eve Matysek and she agreed to give it a try. The results were amazing. I think she performed some sort of magic on it. There is no trace of the neon pink and the underlying yellow paint is perfectly intact. Thank you Eve for a fantastic job.

In her native Poland she took part in restoration of a Rembrandt painting from the collection of the National Museum. In mid 1990s she was charged with restoration of the interior decoration of the Avalon Theatre on Catalina Island in California. She worked for many years as conservator for the American collector Gerald Buck, whose immense collection of California Impressionists was gifted to UC Irvine. I was pleased with her work on a mid-19th century portrait of a dignitary by the Russian painter Nikolai Dmitriyevich Kuznetsov, which required cleaning and repairs; as well as a late 19th century landscape by German painter of the Munich school. I was astonished to see Mrs. Matysek returning the paintings to their original condition as created by the artists.

We found that Summer Studios was in the area and had different class options. We went in to check it out and get more details. David was very friendly and helped answer our questions. A date night class sounded like the best way to try it out at a reasonable price to see if we enjoyed it before signing up for a full class. On the night, we got there and the dog Sokkit was there to welcome us in. David talked us through the process and then he demonstrated the process for us, including explaining the "why" behind the steps. With that sorted, we got to get our hands muddy (covered in slippery wet clay) to throw a pot. David was watching over us and helped us with the steps as we had first-timer issues and questions. The setting was a nice way to try out pottery, and is a fun activity on a date night. We had the chance to make 3 different pots each, and they were each quite different but not too bad for a first time. David told us that for these classes, he does the work to finish off the pots (drying, trimming, firing, and glazing) and then we can come back to pick up the finished pieces. I'm quite curious how they will look when finished. Overall, very enjoyable and fun. We're probably signing up for one of the 4 or 6 week classes soon.

I'm excited to see the final results in a few weeks after all the firing and glazing.
