It is sparse and the trees haven't started leafing out yet so I was hoping the whole trail didn't look like this. I'm glad I was patient. About .5 mile in, the trail hot to a neat old bridge and then ran right next to a river with mated pairs of ducks and geese. A little further on, the trail became windy and had a big pond with bull frogs croaking and turtles trying to cross the road. The area will be very shady when the leaves start coming. This is a heavily traveled trail on the weekends so be careful when walking so you don't become a casualty of a runner, biker, roller blader.

When I'm looking to add on some extra mileage (6 miles round trip), I start at the entrance off of Overland which has a fairly large parking area. While this trail doesn't have much (or any) shade, the rush of cool breeze you experience at the top is worth a little bit of heat. Start off early in the day to avoid parking crushes and heat exhaustion! You begin the hike walking on a wide, flat path and over a wooden bridge before coming to a fork in the trail. Turning right will get you to the Michaud Lane entrance (and can shave off 2 miles if you're looking for a shorter jaunt). Keep an eye out for snakes - we've seen a few rattlers in the area as of late! After about two miles, the incline begins. While it's more of a moderate climb, it does keep going up with no flat breaks, and you'll definitely break a sweat if you don't take a time to catch your breath! I recommend keeping right on the trail at the second fork so you have a better view once you crest. After a few corners, and a few false summits, you finally reach the top which overlooks the north end of the reservoir, a large valley and the Noosa yoghurt production facility. The descent is a little dusty and rocky, but you get to enjoy the view of the sun shimmering off the water and all the boats dancing around if you're willing to look away from each footstep. This trail also joins with the north end of the Foothills Trail on the descent, which you'll want to avoid unless you'd like to turn this into a double digit mileage hike! Study a map beforehand to plan your turns, then after your hike, head up to the Howling Cow Cafe for a refreshing ice blended coffee, a breakfast bagel and locally-made Noosa yoghurt to refuel and rehydrate after!

You can get your hike in and be done in a couple of hours if you are short on time 6. There are bathrooms, dog poop bags, and trashcans at the trailhead 7. Nice view at top Negatives : 1. Zero shade 2. Zero water 3. Snakes. They are out and about now so be on the look out and listening for them. This is their home! They are frequently hiding in the low bushes or tall grass. If you are bringing your dogs or young kids you really need to be aware of this 4. Summer is a rough time to do this one be cause of all of the above. Be sure to pack out what you pack in and pick up your dog poop bags if you bring your dog. Too often just see them left by side of trail First stretch is flat and then you begin your ascent. It's nice to have something so close to town but would save it for spring or fall.

Length: 18.4 miles RT Elevation Gain: 3,330 ft Route: Out & Back Lost Lake is rated as moderate in AllTrails. I don't think so. For day hikers without a heavy backpack maybe. But the length of the hike and add downed trees and snow covered trail and off trail adventure it really turns out a difficult trail. I've been here about four times and I'm making this my last time. This is a 9.2 miles fairly isolated lake. This past weekend we were the only souls that was determined to reach the lake. Runners and say hikers turned around because of the reasons mentioned above. Rain was a constant this weekend. Heavy downpours. At this point sometimes I wonder why don't I just stop doing this? It's very hard on your body and even harder when the backpacking food that we chosen to bring with us failed miserably! But we love backpacking. Can't stop. Won't stop. We've seen incredible sunrise, awe inspiring sunsets and jaw dropping frozen lakes and so much more! No frozen lake this trip but still pretty. Lots of grey clouds.

There are a few options of routes to go -Summit trail out and back -meadow trail to the summit and down the summit trail -summit trail to summit - down the meadow trail This area was unfortunately impacted by the High park fire around 11-12 years ago and sadly the trees are mostly dead and burned for most of the hike. No matter your experience, your goal, what you ride or where you ride you'll walk away from the weekend safer, more confident, and with some awesome stories to tell friends. I will absolutely keep coming back! Danny attracts an an amazing group of people to help support this camp, he's amazing himself, but this group that supports him really knocks the entire experience out of the park. I walked in Saturday barley knowing how to start a bike, and left Sunday confident in riding on the streets. Not to go race everyone and be an idoit, as Danny would say "nnnooooo" I'm leaving with confidence in my ability to react to road conditions or anything "spectacular" that might come in front of me. I have to give a special shout out to Robbie for staying on me all weekend, never letting up! His coaching was out of this world!! Hunter's constant encouragement/positivity kept me going when I was frustrated with myself. Hunter was pumped at my progress after the final day, it was everything hearing him screaming behind me at the end of day two!!! Carter's patience/coaching was beyond amazing. These 3 really invested so much time in me personally over the weekend but ALL of the coaches are just beyond words. They ALL CARE about your success and DO NOT get frustrated with you when you are frustrated with yourself. They keep pushing you, keep encouraging you, and keep you laughing the entire weekend. I don't think I've ever worked harder and laughed more in a single weekend in my life. The people are what make this camp. Do yourself a favor and sign up now!

We only did 5.5 miles today because of time constraints, but definitely want to go back. The trail starts off in the open and then gets you back into a wooded area. The views are pretty stunning and there were some fall colors popping in various parts of the hike. There is a lot of elevation gain. I believe i saw the trail has over 3000 feet of elevation gain from start to finish. In the first 2.5 miles we did 1500 feet of elevation gain. Parts are fairly rocky. But the trail is clear and well worn. Dogs are allowed but need to be leashed. It says that mountain bikers are also able to use the trail as well.
