Great park with variety of trails some wide open some more narrow and challenging. Very clean area with beautiful views. We really enjoyed getting out and hiking about. We went at 730 am on a Sunday and it wasn't too crowded though there were a lot of bicyclists and everyone was very polite.

We enjoyed hike through Lory near Arthur's rock taking about a 3 mile hike along with western ridge of horsetooth reservoir.

My wife bought a groupon for this company for our anniversary…read more My wife scheduled a ride for Her, I and our 2 kiddos for June 9th, 2019. We drove an hour and a half to get to the place and we of course showed up an hour early, met with Mike one of the wranglers and he invited us to take a stroll while we waited for our ride, we did all the paperwork and got the kids helmets picked out, went for a beautiful walk and returned for our ride. Sadly Mike almost in tears says we were not on his schedule, said it happens quite often and hes left as the face to be the bad guy, we tried calling the office line but no answer, we were turned away to drive an hour and a half back home, great anniversary right? So not a single call from anyone in the office to appologize for the error, we contacted Groupon and got a full refund but still, not even an apology from the company for basically ruining our planned anniversary! Mike was great and it wasnt his fault clearly and the fact he got emotional made it all the easier to walk away friendly even tho my wife was really upset and my kids disheartened. I sure hope this company has more people like Mike and realizes they have very poor customer service to at least reach out to a customer and apologize for the inconvenience but I guess they just dont care. I wont ever schedule with this company again, and surely wont ever recommend them to anyone because of this situation. I'd recommend people to just go a few miles to Estes park and visit with Sombrero rather than deal with this irresponsible company. Thanks again Mike for your empathy and I hope you have nothing but great rides and the very best in life, you clearly deserve a great life.

My daughter is an experienced rider and she enjoyed it. I was simply along for the ride. We had to change our day and time due to an injury, but were so accommodating and changed everything for us. No fuss about the change. You don't see service like that anymore. The trail is along a path and you get as far as your time allows. We didn't get too far because we had some slow riders. I would highly recommend the for beginners. If you have a larger group you'll have better luck at setting the pace and get farther along the path. It's not the guides fault if folks are slow. Keep that in mind when going. Be on time as this activity starts at the parking lot of the head of a trail. We enjoys the horses and the guides.

Multiple horses have had injuries on the cable fencing in the turn outs and stalls. The owner of the ranch is too cheap to hire another stable hand, so the poor stable hand has to clean an almost full barn all by himself in 12 hours. There was a leak in my horse's stall the other day, they fixed it but didn't even bother to clean up the soaking wet stall. The owner said it would be cleaned the next day because there was no more shavings. Needless to say I was there throwing out all of the drenched shavings and pulling what was left of the dry shavings in her stall to cover the ground. They have fed poor quality hay which has caused health problems for some horses. They do not give boarders notice when there is a problem, disease, or anything going around the barn. I was just informed by a fellow boarder yesterday that there had been a horse with Pigeon Fever. The owner of the ranch, Dave, knows nothing about horses and should NOT be running a boarding facility. I do like the fact that there is an indoor arena, but the dirt is of poor quality and gets compacted in their feet. I love the size of the outdoor arena but again the dirt is of poor quality, lots of rocks. Every time after I ride my horse has a rock shoved in her hoof. I know a good amount of people that just are no longer happy with the care they provide our horses and are looking for new places to board.

It was 3 of us, including my 8-year-old son, and the conditions couldn't have been better--just a little snow, some mud, and plenty of opportunities for big splashes (which my son absolutely loved). We did a 5-hour rental, which felt like the perfect amount of time to explore without feeling rushed. The equipment was in great shape, and even the truck used to haul the ATV and trailer to the trailhead was well-maintained--everything felt professional and dialed in. The team really made the experience stand out. Everyone we interacted with was fantastic, and Andrew in particular was a superstar--he handled both checkout and check-in, made everything easy, and clearly cares about making sure customers have a great time. We'll definitely be back, especially to experience the trails in full snow. Highly recommend all around.

Everyone working here was friendly, informative, knowledgeable, and provided excellent recommendations for what trail to choose. They suggested we log in to CoTrex so we had access to the off road trail, which was very helpful. They also had us scan a QR code with directions to the trail, which made the whole process very seamless. We got a side by side for 3 hours and went to Pole Hill. It was a lot of fun. The trails were great and it also had amazing views! We also saw a fox on the trail. You can tell that everyone working there loves the outdoors and that they all truly care about giving all their customers an amazing experience! Highly recommend this place!

What a great place for hiking! I'm from near Boulder, so getting in the car and driving an hour up…read morethe front range just to hike,we'll, we have hiking here too. But I was very impressed with the size and scope of this mountain park! Sitting right next to Lory State Park, you can really get a lot of distance done on these trails. It's a nominal fee to park, and there's maps and bathrooms at the trailhead. I found there to be parking much of the day. However, the waterfall attracts many folks on weekends. I would start with an ascent of Horsetooth Mountain, if you feel able. Even if you can't get all the way up, the views get better and better. There's lots of side trails to customize your adventure. However, don't get lost! The final few steps on the peak are a big rock scramble, so be careful! It's worth it though. I then went down to the cove and had a nice private lunch. Plenty of bikers use the trails on the lower half, so be aware. I found hiking before 10 am was best, and encountered few bikers out that early. This was a fantastic place to hike, and I got nearly 15 miles down. There's a beautiful section on the Stout Trail, and it leads down to a cool waterfall, so I'd definitely at least recommend that section!

That being said, I can see how the parking lot would be full on a busier day or the weekend. Facilities: There are toilets and water fountains in the parking lot, as well as maps and a covered picnic table. There is a apy station at the entry to the hike as well. There is a bug posted map as well as some paler maps for you to take. Hikes: There seemed to be 2 major hikes according to the posted map. You can hike to the falls but make sure to check if they have water ahead of time. Since there wasn't water when we went, we opted for only doing the hike up to horse tooth itself. The trails are very clearly marked which is really appreciated! Each trail is marked by a color and there are colored arrows showing you which way to go on your chosen path. The hike up to horsetooth itself can be strenuous! Not being used to the elevation should definitely be something taken into consideration if you're new to the area. It's consistently uphill for the first half (and downhill for the 2nd half of course). The views are absolutely amazing the whole way with a great look over the huge reservoir! You may also run into some wildlife - we passed by some very calm deer right on the trail and met some very cute chipmunks who came right to us. There's also some benches along the trail to take a break and take in the views. Once you get to the top of the trail, you can climb to the top of horse tooth - and I mean climb! You definitely don't have to have rock climbing experience but you do need to be ready to use hands and feet to get up there. This trail is dog friendly and you will run into people with dogs. Leashes are required.
