This park is awesome and beautiful! There's a fun splash pad, cool paleontology themed playground, beautiful lake, lots of green grass hills and more! It's well maintained, clean, and huge! The littles had a blast climbing up the rock walls, cooling off at the splash pad, running down the hills and walking around the lake.

    Great sunsets

Fossil Creek Park is a gem in the Fort Collins crown. It has everything you could want and then some. Basketball courts and tennis courts are on the east side, south of the dog park. Baseball fields are on the north side, west of the in-line hockey rink. Because the heart of any park is all about playing, the awesome playground is in the center. In the summer there is a water park next to the giant lake and in the winter, the large hill serves as a sledding hill. They even put hay bales around possible obstacles like trees and metal poles of the picnic shelter. I love the idea that these efforts keep people from getting hurt. There are two very large picnic shelters that can be reserved. The little touches that point towards caveman days make this park a fun place for everyone. Today's adventure included some ducks, a really strong dog who, perhaps on a dare, took a swim to go after the ducks, a gorgeous sunset, a wooly mammoth tusk shelter, and a very sassy, cold-shoulder when it was time to go.

My husband and I attend this park regularly. It's a great dog park with lots of space for the dogs and some shade. There are lots of toys for the dogs as well. :) it's a great park in the area! The people are always nice and typically clean up after their dog. We attended this park REGULARLY as in 2x a day, and the park was always clean, there was always great company. Bring water in the winter, as the city shuts it off, but otherwise great park and dog park! The views of Longs and Meaker are beautiful too!

Awesome park in the summer. We are visiting from San Diego and was so happy to bring the kids here. Great playground trees and kids water park.

    A pretty cool bridge.

I love, love this park. They also have a hockey rink here, basketball court, trail for bike rides, trail for running and cool spots for picnic with the family. The dog park is pretty cool too, away from the playground. Oh and I almost forgot, they also have a skate park here. Great park in the So Foco area. One of my faves!

Awesome park for kids of any age. Playground equipment that challenges every age group, and nature to explore. One of our favorites!

I stumbled upon it a few months back while looking for a place to have breakfast with my daughter (ended up at Silver Grill Cafe). After breakfast, we decided to wander around a bit and check out the area. The square is beautiful! In the middle, you'll find a stage that is home to a lot of live music in the evenings, and a fountain/splash pad for the kids (or adults and some dogs I've seen), to run and splash around. They have a piano for the public to play, a fountain to make wishes in, and some interesting local art. There is plenty of seating to sit and watch the kid's play or have a small bite to eat. The fountain/stage are surrounded by a large number of local boutique shops and delicious restaurants. A bonus, a Ben & Jerry's ice cream shop! It is a great area to spend a warm day. At Christmas, all of downtown and old town are lit up with thousands of lights in the trees, on the buildings, etc. It is absolutely stunning! Back to my earlier comment that it truly feels like a Hallmark Christmas movie. They set up Santa's workshop in the middle of the square for kiddo's to meet him, sit on his lap, and take photos. He was such a kind man and was wonderful with the kids. Right next to this, is a skating rink. This unfortunately was disappointing. It's not ice, it's some plastic stuff that is physically impossible to actually skate on. Honestly it felt like a lawsuit waiting to happen with how easy it was to fall. It was uncomfortable and not very fun, we only went two laps and gave up. It was free, so at least we didn't waste any money. It's great for "looks," but don't recommend it. Overall, this is truly one of my favorite places in Fort Collins and I love spending my days here with my daughter.

The water had been up to the rocks near the parking area at the South Bay swim area. In the late summer, it had more of the expected high desert vibe. It's nice that they have a no-wake area for paddle boarders and swimmers. Although it is a reservoir, the ugly wall is not a prominent visual feature like ie: Cherry Creek reservoir. I enjoy how this one is situated in a valley surrounded by mountains. Next time, I am absolutely bringing a paddle board. This time however, I was amused and inspired by one man who was not immediately deterred by the fact that he fell off his again and again. When he finally gave up, he had the same problem with his inner tube. The bathrooms/showers were not disgusting but I wasn't so sure how sanitary those children's diapers were in the water. .

Trails around the reservoir were fun and varied from rocky beaches, to steep grades, to rocks you could boulder or climb. The trails were well kept and they were not crowded. I'll have to check it out on a warmer day. There were a few people doing photo shoots while we were there also.
