Greeley is fortunate to have this tremendous trail system! Walk or ride all the way to Fort Collins. Well maintained and clean!

Missile Site Park - Missile Site Park, Greeley CO

Not sure if this park is still open for business? This was a very quick unplanned stop. The gate…read morewas open so, I decided to scout it out. This review is based on my quick stop back in April, which was likely their off season, but there was no one around-and it looked like a ghost town. There's the namesake underground missile silo site at this same location, which is what initially caught my attention, however, this part of the park was gated off and closed to the public. There were still ominous signs and relics posted about from the Cold War era warning would be trespassers of Deadly Force Use Authorization and attack dogs on patrol. Although, I don't imagine there's anyone around nowadays to shoot on sight any trespassers, suspected Soviet spies or other violators-I wasn't about to test this premise. I was told there are guided tours available at certain times of the year-so I'll try to find out when those are offered and I'll post a follow up the next time I revisit this part of Colorado. As for the R.V. park, the sites looked okay, but nonetheless were very Spartan. Most or all are gravel, not exactly well maintained, in my opinion and there were very few trees or little shade. The location is on a sort of promontory that gives a command view of the surrounding area and landscape. So, maybe this is intentional so as not to obscure views of the surrounding area. If I had had more time, I would have liked to check out some of the hiking trails that were posted. There were several picnic tables about the area as well as some portapot lavatories. So this might make a great place for a family day picnic and hiking or bike riding adventure. Additionally, there is a RV grey/black dumpsite with water hydrant for wash down or refilling water tanks (I'm not sure if the water was potable though, so perhaps check other reviews before assuming). I suppose they go by a honor system because there was a cash drop box adjacent to the septic dump. Unfortunately, I didn't have time to do a thorough check out of this location and its amenities, but I'll leave that for other Yelpers, or a future visit when time is more permitting.

Great area in town for hiking, running, or to connect with the Poudre River Trail that now runs…read morethrough and connects to other side of I-25. Especially pretty in fall.

Came here for the first time this week. I didn't know it was here after all my years living in…read morefort collins. If you park at the main parking lot. There are dog poop bags available and also trash cans spread along the trail. Please do bag up your pups poop and deposit it in a trash can. Saw several bags just left along side the trail. Also folks left some garbage off the trail. Please do make sure you pack out what you pack in. Dont just leave your garbage there for someone else to pick up. The good : 1. There were not a lot of people. 2. There was a mix of dirt trails and paved trails, which was nice depending on what type of excursion you would like to have. 3. There was a lot of birds out. It seems like it would be a great place for bird watching. 4. There were a lot of various places you could park to get onto a trail? not sure if this is good or not. Some off road parking, over at the harmony park n ride, the main lot - which is not super large but seemed to accomodate the number of people that were there. The not as good : 1. There are a lot of bugs out. Bring your bug spray! or spray up before you head out here. 2. There are a lot of places to park?? It was a little confusing on where the trails go and where to start at. Maybe i just needed to do more research. I thought I was meeting up with some other ladies but i went to wrong lot initially and never did find them. Overall as far as natural areas go, it was good. I prefer hikes. BUT this was good for a nice walk.
