I was referred to Jessica Luther at Higdon's by one of my best friends when I moved back to Denver about a year ago and could not be more happy with the service, availability, and results from her efforts! This salon is located in the (eastern)Highlands area near I-25 and 15th. Very close to Ale House if you are familiar with the area, lots of fun spots! Jessica takes the time to get to know you as well as what your concerns and expectations for your hair are. She never tries to up-sell or recommend products that you don't need, genuinely wants you to look your best and has an eye for detail. Most of the time I just say "I need color" and let her work her magic! She considers your skin tone and natural hair color before making any drastic changes. Offers advice where warranted and honestly will make you look like a million bucks by the time you walk out of here. All of the salon professionals here are great but I personally would recommend Jessica due to the past year of awesome results :) when looking for a new hair salon, do consider this place! Maria Rodriguez is an amazing hairstylist. I've been through several different haircolors with her and she nails them every time! Not to mention this is the longest and healthiest my hair has ever been in my life, and I've been trying for YEARS to get it in good condition! I love this place. I particularly love Jessica. After my usual salon closed I bounced around from place to place until I met Jessica out and when she said she did hair I was so into how friendly she was so I decided to give it a try. Perfect. Literally every time she does my hair it is perfect and exactly what I want. No blotches, no off-color, none of the things I had associated as just part of being blonde. I love her, she will make you feel so comfortable and well-cared for. If you are considering making a switch definitely check her out! As far as Higdon's itself it is located in an older restored house in the highlands which gives it a really cute, quaint feel. They always grab you a drink and it is very well maintained. Tracy is masterful! I went to Tracy for the first time yesterday. She was highly recommended to me by 2 bosses, and they were spot on with everything they said. I'd received a less than desirable haircut from a distracted stylist, and 3 weeks later gave Tracy the task of "fixing" it. When I moved to Denver from NYC I had a really hard time finding a hair stylist to compare...until I found Jessica at Higdon's! All of the girls are professional, talented, and welcoming, but Jessica is a shining star. Not only that, but she has come to be my saving grace between my Brazilian Blowout, my color, and my cuts. I wrote a review for the haircut I received by Jessica in January, but do not see it here any longer (?). It was not the worst haircut but was the worst salon experience I ever had. Had I read reviews of Tracy, I would have gone to her. I am re-entering the review because after many months of letting Jessica's haircut grow out, I contacted Tracy. She is seeing me today and has offered to not charge for today's cut - very professional. My original review from Jan. 2013 was one star. Pending today's outcome I will re-evaluate but the fact that she offered to remedy such a bad experience is at least worth three. Tracy did the cut @ no charge and gave a discount on a styling product. I was impressed she did this since I waited so long to contact her - very professional! Jan. 2013 When I made the appt. with Jessica, I told her the name of who referred me to her. Upon arrival, Jessica told me she had not cut that woman's hair in a very long time and knew who had. The time to tell me this was on the phone since that cut is why I called. While washing my hair, Jessica tried to fix me up with a cop friend, which I declined. I was only there for a cut. While some stylists ask a few questions about products you use/how you care for your hair, Jessica interrogated and judged me. She made snide comments about where I was purchasing my products from (the internet). At the end of the cut, I asked for a comb to check the cut. As I was checking it, she became obviously upset that I was checking it and how. She began to raise her voice, and as she disputed my technique, she took a piece of hair (more than a few but less than a handful) and chopped into the section without measuring - just clearly expressing her offense that i would check her work - and said, "You just tell me what to cut and I will cut it!" as she randomly cut the piece. At that point, I became fearful of how emotionally irrational she was behaving with scissors in her hand. I stopped and immediately attempted to calm her down, saying everything was fine. I left her a large tip just so I could get out of the salon safely. Not only was the experience with Jessica unprofessional, it was unsafe. read more

I am here on vacation from NC. I had very thing, long curly hair that had been fried and thinned out due to coloring disasters at a salon back home. I simply just had not been feeling myself and could not find an appointment open before I came to Denver. The place I am staying at is right beside Higdons salon and I just happened to meet the owner and Erin on my first day here. Not only did Erin fit me in the next day, she gave me a huge discount out of the kindness of her heart and knowing how I felt and what I had been through. I will be honest I didn't know how to trust her at first that it was actually found to turn out right and I'm sure she felt that. After going through a drastic change, it's the best color and haircut I've ever had. She pulled it off plus some. I don't feel like my old self, i feel better. Like a new, refreshed person. And that is what their job is all about and she met that expectation plus some. You will not regret going to see Erin. She is honest, hardworking, and passionate about what she does. read more

I had a haircut with Jessica for the first time, and after reading the reviews for Tracy, I wish I had gone to her. Someone referred me to Jessica, and part-way through the haircut Jessica told me she had not cut the hair of the person who referred me for some time and was aware the person had been going to a family friend instead - something I would have appreciated being told when I made the appointment and mentioned the referral because I wanted to have my hair cut by that person - that is what a referral is for. She asked if I was coloring my own hair and what products I used, and then offered unsolicited criticism for most answers - "I guess you can buy anything on the internet" was one of her comments. At the end of the cut, I asked for a comb and proceeded to check the haircut for symmetry. She became defensive and said, "That isn't how you check it." Although I did not ask her to adjust anything, she said, "Just tell me what to cut and I'll cut it." She then pulled a piece of hair on the right side of my head without even checking it, cut it, and did not check it at all - total lack of maturity or professionalism. I would never return. After I left, a professor at a beauty school checked the cut and found several errors that I was told would require additional cutting to correct, in addition to areas that were cut and blended properly. A positive note - I was almost ten minutes late and she still took the appointment, although now I wish she had not. read more
