Edit: Spoke with owner and bumped review from 1 to 3 stars due to their accountability and desire to provide a good experience for their customers. I did not have a good experience but I hope my feedback can help contribute to a better experience for future customers. This unfortunately was the worst dining experience of my life. We drove up to Mariposa to visit some friends and check out Yosemite, and ended up stopping at Hideout Saloon for lunch. We were served by Ron, who was pleasant, but definitely took advantage of us once they confirmed it was our first time. My partner and I both ended up ordering their breakfast burritos, which per the menu contains 3 scrambled eggs, fries, and cheese. Cool! We both added tomatoes and bacon, and I added avocado and a dipping sauce as well. Little did we know that these toppings would make our $12 burritos set us back $21.95 and $17.75 respectively! Yes, the menu says to check in with your server about the prices of each topping, but there's literally a whole page on the menu dedicated to toppings. I'm not going to sit there and go down the list of toppings asking for each price, and I shouldn't be expected to anticipate that 3 toppings will double the price of the burrito I ordered. Feels predatory to not even let the customer know what to anticipate when you've confirmed it's their first time at this establishment. We had maybe 5 bits of bacon in our burritos, and I had maybe 2 bites of avocado in mine. If you thought Chipotle was a scam with their guac prices, wait till you check out this place. Not only did we get charged an obscene amount of money for what we got, our burritos were packed with onions and bell peppers, which surprise surprise, were not listed as being in the burrito on the menu. My partner doesn't eat these things, and would have ordered something else if we knew this would be in the burrito. For an establishment that nickels and dimes you on every single ingredient, you'd think they'd be sure to list exactly what comes in the burrito. As noted on another review, the owner would rather I call directly to inform them about my complaint versus leaving a review. Fair enough, I call the establishment a few hours after I leave, as there was a decent amount of locals inside at this time and I didn't want to make a scene. When answered, I tell them that I wasn't happy with my experience, and that I'd like my concerns forwarded to the owner. They reply by saying the owner isn't here, and when I ask when they'll be in, they told me about calling back at 1am and then hung up on me? Like are you for real? You could have offered to forward my complains or something but instead here we are on Yelp. Save your money, check out the lovely folks at the Subway or Pizza Factory instead if you're looking for a food fix. read more

We had an early dinner at The Hideout after a long day at Yosemite. Ron was super kind and friendly. He helped us decide what to order and made sure we didn't have any food restrictions or allergies. We ended up having the dipped steak sandwich and bbq chicken sandwich. Everything was made in house and you could tell. They were both delicious in their own way. A hidden gem! We absolutely loved this place! Beer on tap was fantastic! We had the Solid Ground Kolsch Lager. We actually visited all 3 nights while in Mariposa to visit Yosemite. I had the baja shrimp tacos twice! They were unbelievable! My husband had the French dip both times! So good. I came home and tried to recreate the tacos because they were that good! Highly recommend for the great food and relaxed atmosphere. My 9 year old daughter even contributed to the dollars on the wall! Wish we had something like this in our hometown! read more

We stopped in on a Monday when they opened. The French Dip is definitely a hit! If you sit outside it smells amazing the smoker is out there and will definitely build your appetite as you wait. The bartender was super helpful. Forgot my glasses and he helped me figure out which beer since I couldn't read it. It's dog friendly on the patio. Our Malinos gave the French dip two a two paws up. If you want an old school type bar experience with amazing food it's worth checking out. Even you only want a drink it's worth stopping in for a beer and the customer service! read more

The smoked chicken sandwich was out of this world good. Incredible value for what you get and the quality of the sandwich was fantastic. Some of the best smoked chicken breast I've ever had. This place is so cool kind of reminded me of a speak easy. The vibe downstairs was so fun too especially seeing all the one dollar bills taped around the room. The tacos were surprising good for a place so Inland in California. They were however pretty different than ur normal street tacos you're probably used to. The seasoning on the chicken one really reminded me of tandoori chicken and warm Indian spices which I did not mind at all. The shrimp was big and juicy and also nicely seasoned and worked really well with the salsa verde. If I'm back in mariposa will definitely hit this place again! read more

We came to stay in Mariposa for a little getaway in between visiting Yosemite. We stayed right across the round from here. It's the cutest little way to get into this place. Small and definitely had a lot of personality. Reminds me of a cleaner version of a bar we have back home. Has TouchTunes, good cold beer on tap and the food was amazing! The staff was so friendly and helpful. We ordered the chips and 'da'dip' with the red salsa and it was SO flavorful. We then ordered the NightClub Remix Sandwich which tasted so fresh that came with potato salad, again tasted very good and fresh. I ordered the Nor'Easter ( I think that's what it's called) pizza and it was AMAZING. It's all from fresh ingredients and cooked in a pizza oven. Everything was absolutely AMAZING! This is definitely the place to hide out! Actually, I just like to hang out here. No need to hide-everyone who works there is friendly and down to earth. Their food is a hit every time, no matter what one orders. Their menu is full of ao many different items, and they aren't opposed to suggestions if you want some food or any changes made to your order. I son't know where they come up with some of their ideas foe the different dishes they offer, but their motive is far from dull and boring! I highly recommend this establishment to the 2- and over crowd. read more

Was in town for the week, went to Mariposa park and played some tennis. Kids were hungry and wanted Chipotle. Unfortunately, the Oakhurst one has not yet opened. Upon checking Yelp, saw the good reviews with 10% promo and less than 5 min drive, thought to give this local pub a try. The vibe was interesting with $ bills sticking over the walls at this little pub. We were there at around 4:10 pm and apparently a little group arrived shortly before us. Waitress/Bartender came and took our order within 8 mins. We ordered a lemonade, onion rings, 3 shrimp tacos, 3 tri tip tacos and a fish and chips. The 10 oz glass of lemonade was with 1/2 ice filled. The waitress was always on the other side of the pub while we were waiting for our food and not once informed us of the expected wait time. After we waited for more than 30 min and the other small group has finished their meal, I walked about 15 feet over to the bar area to check what was going on in the kitchen behind it. Apparently, the waitress and a young man were in there preparing. I walked back to the table and waited for another 5 min before the first food item came. The tacos came and they were decent in look and taste. The onion rings then came but the order was small and burned. When the waitress brought the fish and chips over, we informed her that the onion rings were burnt. She simply said they are made with air fryer and they are all like that. After all, she did take it back. The fish and chips were ok, not great and thought they are a bit expensive at almost $22 for its quality and quantity. We asked the waitress if the lemonade was refillable and she replied that it was not as it is hand made although it tasted as bottled and very small portions with lots of ice. After all the wait time and minimal presence of the waitress, I forgot all about the Yelp's check-in discount. read more

Such a fun place to experience--really local flavor with the dollar bills everywhere and old stone walls. Loved the pool table and games available too. A great spot to hang! We love dive bars and always look for new ones when we are in a new place. We stopped in for lunch and wow are we glad we did. The food, service, ambiance, and cocktails were all absolutely incredible. The meats are all smoked in house - one of the best French dips I've ever had. The fish and chips was great as well. This place certainly has some character. No need for reservations. There are plenty of gluten free options on the menu and the waiter was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. He mentioned that a lot of the food was prepared in an air fryer or cooked in coconut oil. I loved that as an option. I had the Cajun shrimp and although it was a bit spicy for our two year old, I enjoyed it. Others got pizza and a sandwich. The pizza had a nice thin crust and the sandwich was big enough for at least two meals. Check this place out if you're in the mood for elevated bar food made a bit healthier. read more

After a long day at Yosemite National Park and checking in, my SO and I were starving. Because Mariposa is a small town and restaurants were closed early, this was our only option to grab dinner... this would probably have to be the worst experience we've both experienced at a bar. FOOD: We were limited to menu options since they stop serving most at 9. We ordered a Philly Cheesesteak and Pizza, both were sad/mediocre and almost took and hour to get our food. We had one of those moments in which we just looked each other in disgust and just decided to force feed ourselves since we were hungry and ran out of options. We were most disappointed in the Philly Cheesesteak.. I wouldn't even consider it Philly Cheesesteak since the bread was all soggy, covered in cheese that almost seemed like nacho cheese and you could hardly taste any meat. On another note the batter from the onion rings was nasty and the ranch or bleu cheese was super watered down. As for the pizza, it was super small and bland. For the amount of time we had to wait it did not make sense how the food was so bad. With that being said, you could say the trip to the restroom after was not pleasant haha! Hideout definitely has a different vibe to it than what we're used to... but we would not recommend and will never return. read more

I was lucky enough to stumble upon the Hideout. It is certainly hidden from the main street downtown but once you step into this charming friendly space you will know why it is so special. The food is fantastic and the bartender was friendly and full of suggestions. Locals trickled in and joined in conversation. I just love this place.
