Great atmosphere, various games on the tvs, they had darts which we didn't have long to wait for, cheap drinks, they ID so you don't have young teens being idiots. Great service, only downfall was the kitchen closed at 9pm, but overall fun "hole in the wall" bar feel! read more

Super cool dive bar. Came here for superbowl Sunday, typical dive bar with pool tables, darts and modern juke box. On this particular day, management showed customer appreciation and made so much food to include, ribs, sausage, phily cheese steaks, baked beans, etc. they also had a raffle. This place is RACIST. I walked in with my two black friends and we had eyes on us the entire 5 minutes we were in there. We were told to "check in at the bar"? When we get to the bar they take my ID no problem but they turn away my friend saying his ID is "not valid". It is valid. He's 41. They continued to come up with excuses as to why we couldn't stay there. We were glad to leave. 0 stars. read more

Someone asked me once if I liked going to the Hideaway and my response was "Does a bear crap in the woods?" There is a certain charm about this hole in the wall bar establishment that has kept me coming back over the course of the 5 years of me being stationed in Jacksonville. Just like any spot you go around with frequency everyone knows your name. It really didn't matter what time I went around there because someone I knew always ended up coming in for a little. As long as you are friendly and make an effort to meet the others that hang out here you will have no problems having your own little new group of friends. Tony owns a great spot here. This is the best karaoke bar in North Carolina. They have an outside bar that is open when there is good enough weather and an inside bar that somehow always maintains the ability to be maneuverable no matter how packed it gets on the weekends. They have a drink special almost every night of the week and free pool once a week on the two pool tables located inside. I've never gotten involved with the dart league they have but there is one available to sign up for. They also have an electronic dart board that my group usually takes over on the weekends while everyone takes turns going up to sing. They do have snacks at the bar and small tombstone type pizzas, popcorn, and corn dogs. From what my experience is they serve until it gets too busy which usually isn't until the later hours. The main bar inside usually has 2 bartenders on the weekends and one at the outside "Paddy-O". I've never had a bad experience or had to wait too long for a drink. As long as you speak clearly and are polite you'll never have a problem ordering. Jaime, Jera, Marilyn, Sheldon, and Charlie are usually the ones working on the nights I go and I wouldn't have it any other way. The parking situation is pretty good but make sure you get there a little earlier on weekends or you'll park in the grass or along the road on the side. That isn't a bad thing but I prefer parking on the actual asphalt. I will be moving out of the area soon and will definitely miss the bar and the community. It's just one of those places I have a ton of memories of friends that have come and gone throughout the years and am glad I found this spot. There is a ton more I can write about this place so all I will say is that you just need to visit. I will say that if you are going for the first time I would bring a friend or two along because you can't go wrong. If you don't have fun it's because you probably just don't know how to. read more

After finally finding this neat little establishment we were welcomed in since we were definitely from out of town. After getting our membership we proceded to drink the excellent nectar called Busch light and Jager Bombs. The bartenter was very nice and she kept our drinks full and provided us with some conversation. Karaoke was interesting one of my friends isa huge fan so he was sold. went to the hideaway lounge for the second time today. I decided to leave earlier than expected when the owner came by to tell me "we have a policy here, if you're going to eat you better spend some Damn money" I understand his concern...but he could have been more professional to learn I was waiting on a group to join me before I started drinking...or asked if I had purchased some of his raffle tickets...or had purchased cash in the tip jar (I did). And then he turned off my game while it was in overtime! As the owner he should not treat customers like this. He will never see my business again. I called my group and told them not to come out. This place is a typical Jacksonville business, doing its best to take advantage of people. My bar tab was over double what it should have been. If I leave with an almost $300 bar tab I shouldn't remember walking out of the place. My tab was charged with shots and drinks that I didn't order. I ordered a few jäger bombs and I was charged for 18. As I'm pleading my case with the bartender she kicks me out and tells me to F$&@ myself, which was shocking cause she had been nice all night. I then spoke with the owner and he pretty my said the same thing and did nothing to correct my tab, even when it was obvious that I hadn't ordered everything on my tab. This place doesn't even deserve one star. If you're planning on going to a bar for some drinks, don't waste your time or money at the hideaway lounge. read more
