OMG i love this place...good thing it isn't close to me or I'd have a real problem and turn my backyard into a greenhouse. I got my first tropical hibiscus about 12 years ago from the Oakland Farmer's Market and I was hooked by the beautiful blooms it produced. Whoa! Once you see them, you'll know what i mean...nothing around here like it and seeing them grow brings you to that tropical nirvana and zen. Of course, i have ordered many plants from HVH and have killed many (RIP Moon River, Cosmic Dancer, Bon Temps, Acapulco Gold) from not being knowledgeable of these gorgeous plants...too cold, frost, too hot, overwatering, underwatering, pest etc as they are more temperamental than regular hibiscus you get at your chain store Sometimes, i do wish they were close so the "hibiscus doctors" could make house call to nurse my sick plants back to health....dreaded wilt disease! They're retired from selling flowers but they still sell care products. I ordered some of their special hibiscus fertilizer and at first I was worried because I saw that they retired but I didn't realize they had only retired from actual plants. My fertilizer came a week after ordering, I was notified when it shipped and provided with a tracking number, the shipping free which was awesome and the price for quantity/quality is great. This review is for plants I ordered on line. My three plants arrived in perfect condition and were much larger than I imagined. Upon arrival I read all the instructions and I am very glad I did. My first impulse would be to immediately plant them in larger containers, or in the ground, upon receipt. But I realize now, that would be unwise. These have a wide variety of hibiscus plants and colors. And a few are actually for sale. The rest are always out-of-stock or sold out. They claim they will tell you when a particular style is avaiable. I'm still waiting to be notified. Aslo, if you are trying to see what a certain variety looks like, you're out of luck un;less that style is in stock. Virtually no pictures of OS plants. I ordered four plants. Three survived. Instructions call for eventually replanting them in pots no longer than 6 inches and letting them get at least four feet before replanting in the ground. That may work in most places, but inCentral Florida they become spindly and unattractive, and a four foot plant in a six inch diamter pot tends to fall over with the slightest breeze. Still, this is the best selection I found by mail order, and HVNA does have some varieties that I cannot get locally. Have only dealt with their mail order business rather than locally. Hit or miss. When they hit all is well, larger than average plants. When they miss they really miss - plant was not ready to ship and died almost immediately. Having years of experience with hibiscus and being a repeat customer, I contacted them. Perfect 10. I've read so much about Hidden Valley over the years and always used their web site as a guide on how to take care of my hibiscus plants. Their plants and flowers are so beautiful and unique, that I find myself checking their web site frequently just to check out the pictures. If you don't believe me, try their web site. See if you can stop yourself from looking at all those gorgeous blooms. It's truly addicting. Anyway, I placed an order, early this week for two hibiscus plants. One a 1 gallon, and the second, a two gallon. I have to add, there were so many beautiful gorgeous plants to choose from, it was agonizing to narrow down my search to two plants. I received the order in less than a week and I was shocked how great they were. The packaging, the size, health, and quality of the plants far exceeded my expectations. Normally, the online nurseries, show a picture of a big plant/tree but when you get your order, they are pencil size and so small. Not with Hidden Valley. What I got at one and two gallons were much bigger than a 5 gallon I would get at Home Depot or any other nurseries around me. Well worth the price which I already thought was very reasonable. To me the whole experience from their web site to order processing to getting the plants, showed these people love the product they sell and how highly they regard ad value their customers. Ordered 3 plants, two of them died shortly after, wrote desperate emails trying to get help saving them, one got answered (requesting photos of the dying plants) then ... silence. There's no way to get ahold of them over the phone so I kept sending emails, my plants died and still didn't get any answer. Ordered 4 plants. 2 arrived distressed. I contacted hidden valley and was told the plants were end of the season and thus no guarantee. They were not advertised as "no guarantee". The customer service desk tried to convince me the dead plants must be my fault. Steer clear of these people. You are better off shopping at Walmart. read more

I've had 100% good experiences with Hidden Valley Hibiscus. I've gotten a ton of plants from them, and they are always green and healthy, plus they grow really well, and the flowers are gorgeous. I had one order where one plant arrived in bad shape. I sent them a photo and they sent me instructions to help it pull through. But after a week when it still didn't look good, they shipped me a new plant of my choice. They do say that you have to contact them soon after the plants arrive - you can't wait and contact them months later after you have been growing the plant for a long time and it died under your watch. I've ordered from other hibiscus growers and gotten bad bug infestations. But Hidden Valley Hibiscus always sends clean, healthy plants. Have been dealing with this company for about a year, all started well and then came to a bad ending. Like the previous review stated "hit or miss". I had various issues with my last order from last fall and was continually told it was all my fault. They sold me different medicine remedies to try and fix my problem, but to no satisfaction. I offered to buy larger plants if they would be so kind to credit me for the smaller dead ones, but the owner said, no way.
