Jessie provided us the opportunity to utilize the lobby area during our reunion to view the blue angels practice in July. Our July 16, 2026 visit was spectacular. Up & down 11 floors, it was terrible. BUT, they fixed one of them the next day, so we were grateful for that. Lots of families & children. The pool area was awesome, with 2 hot tubs, 2 pools, lazy river, hammock area, 2 fire pits, music playing, and a bar/resaturant that overlooks the beach. Walking on the beach at night was amazing, and having a hotel where the area stays open after dark was an awesome vibe. Breakfast was included, and it varied each day. It was delicious; very busy in the mornings. Hotel is within walking distance to shops, restaurants, the pier, ice cream, bars, etc. Room was very clean and had a beautiful balcony view. My only complaint about the room was super flat down pillows. Like pancakes. We had to request 2 extra pillows. Would definitely stay again!

As soon as I walked onto the grounds of The Grand Hotel, I got "dirty dancing" vibes. The grounds…read moreof the hotel sit on the east side of Mobile Bay. This allows for an excellent sunset shortly after staff fires the cannon into the bay. The grounds are very spread out so be prepared to walk a lot between buildings. If needed, you can call for a golf cart to pick you up and take you to another building. Tips for the drivers are appreciated. There are good restaurants on site as well. Their food was pretty good. The rooms were comfortable. Many of them have private balconies with chairs and a table to start and/or finish your day. Sadly, you may also find it necessary to sit on the patio to make phone calls because cell phone service inside the rooms was horrific. At least it was bad in the Spa building. Really bad. I did not get to play golf or go to the spa. All in all, I really enjoyed my stay here. I was here on business but would like to return for pleasure and enjoy more of the amenities. Enjoy your stay.

Bliss can be expensive ~ but this resort delivers. History? Check. Views? For miles. Activities?…read moreGot it. Swimming pools? Yep! A spa? Next level! Hubs and I are not complicated people (yeah, right!) I am a Southerner, so I think I've known about The Grand Hotel for a long time. I wanted to stay here for a quick escape from my (albeit wonderful) everyday. I was pretty picky in room selection ~ I wanted a balcony with relaxing chairs (nope ~ not a high top) and a view of water. Our second floor room in the Spa Building delivered perfectly. The Grand has an app listing all the things it offers ~ I can't list them all here. Still the lawn games (bocce, corn hole, ping pong, mini golf) and bicycles merit mention! Don't miss the 3:45 pm history of the hotel and cannon firing! It's expensive to stay here, but it is fun. The grounds do not disappoint ~ the staff miss no detail in keeping this property in top form. Our room was nice ~ but my theory of hotels is that no matter how luxurious the lobby, the rooms are basically the same. Our room is beautifully decorated (calming colors!) and has all the requirements! We so loved our stay!!

This place has 2 advertised heated pools (the outdoor one was not heated), a sauna, a steam room, whirlpool and workout room. The beach is easily accessed with a walk down a long boardwalk. The beach is viewed easily but can not really be heard from the condo. The set up of the room is spot on! Has everything that you would need. These are lovely condos compared to everything else. There's never anyone in the hall. The person that said it was crowded. It's so not crowded. Several people actually live here. There's always parking. There is an elevator for handicap and elevator to take you to your room if you don't wanna climb stairs, the boardwalk is very safe and nice. I love the big decks. That's why I always stay here. The balconies are fantastic for drinking coffee playing cards on the table and chairs. There's always a sitting area on a table and chair area And in the corner there's a sitting area around the corner for the price. They are fantastic. The one we just stayed in 70 one had new furniture a person with us needed a recliner. Everything reclined and I love it was brand new. The kitchen is laid out so well I love the Jacuzzi tub that cleans itself after every bath and they're like that in every room Every condo you won't find a better place to say across the street is the pizza place the wonderful wine bar with French wine across the street down the road is the islander and I mean barely down the road. The young woman…read morechecking us in clearly didn't want to be there and clearly didn't want to give the same welcome speech she had given many times before. She was blazing through whatever she said quietly and at about the same speed as the side effects warning on a TV commercial for prescription meds. I asked her to slow down because my hearing isn't great and she was talking way too fast. She , literally, rolled her eyes and continued to the end of her speech at which time I had a room key and a pink square of paper with numbers on it that I had no idea was for. Not a great first impression. Fortunately this was a one off experience and the remainder of our stay was perfect. The resort is beautiful. The pool area was great. Our room was generously sized and very well appointed. (I still recommend all nice hotels stop buying those packets for the coffee maker with powdered creamer and that horrible pink stuff for sweetener. You're better than that.) The staff, no matter who or where we bumped into them, was friendly, engaging, and helpful. Housekeeping, maintenance, lobby, bars, food service. 100% awesome. The food and drinks in the lobby bar were amazing. We ate there several times because we couldn't think of a good reason to go anywhere else and fight the crowds and traffic for lesser food. We really enjoyed our stay and would certainly stay again.

The location was great, the room was amazing, the amentities were the best part. This is a great place for families as the many pools and water areas are so much fun. They have poolside activities like poolside movies. There is a small tiki bar with a small menu on site as well. They also offer umbrella/chair rentals on the beach in front of the resort. I can imagine without the construction project you have a better chance of walking to the nearby restaurants/attractions, but we opted to drive. The parking is gated as well as the pool areas.

BEWARE AVARI VACATION RENTALS: Condo uninhabitable,…read moresignificant water damage and mold, refund or relocation refused We booked unit A412 at the Waterscapes in Fort Walton Beach through Avari. Upon entering the condo I noticed a musty smell and the condo looked severely neglected- chipped paint throughout the corners and baseboards that looked like it needed to be touched up for multiple seasons, with significant water damage and mold/growth growing around the baseboards and drywall in the bathrooms. Upon brushing my teeth I noticed that the bathroom faucet was completely caked with black and green mold and we ended up using bottled water to brush our teeth. One of the showers wasn't dispersing water properly and it was actually painful to shower because of how much pressure was coming out of the shower head (water was only coming out of half of it, so it was shooting out to the point I couldn't shower my child because it was like pins and needles). Usually high water pressure is great but this was extreme and from obvious neglect. When we got into bed we noticed our sheets were stained throughout the middle of the bed. The condo was truly disgusting and I have ZERO idea how anyone thought it was OK to have guests in it at all. We had to stay there one night because our flight got in super late (we arrived at the condo around 12:30 am) and I had my 3 year old with us so we ended up switching beds to one that looked cleaner and crashing for just the night hours (until around 8:30) before hauling out of there. I was in contact with customer service from about 1-2 am, but was told I would have to wait until the on site property management before I could be relocated or refunded. When I finally got a hold of the on site property manager (after calling multiple times from 8:30 am- 10:30 am) she told me I could not be relocated or refunded. It was after 11 am before I could see her in person though there were several urgent orders put in for her to contact me. We walked through the condo together and I pointed out all the issues above and told her the condo was uninhabitable and to ask again, and I was told the same again (no refund or relocation to a different condo). Apparently if the individual owner doesn't want to refund you your money- it doesn't matter if the place has obvious mold issues and unlivable! As a side note I woke up with a sore throat and itchy/runny sinuses that resolved after leaving, so I will be reporting this condo to the local health department. I truly believe this place is a major health hazard and caution everyone to stay away from Avari- they obviously do not care about the health and safety of their customers.
