Janky, mismatched lights. Hard to apply makeup in poor lighting.
Katelyn B.

My family and I stayed in a Vacasa unit during our Spring Break vacation. We want to start by thanking Vacasa for making it possible to have a place to stay away from home. The location of the unit was stellar to accessing the beach and pool. While the location was great, we didn't find many other aspects to rave about during this visit. Please know it is not in our nature to write in with complaints. We do travel a lot and recognized too many areas of opportunity not to share this feedback seeing as we paid a premium price for this stay. Upon arriving, the musty smell was overwhelming. The floors were filthy with black and sand immediately sticking to our feet. As we entered the bedrooms, we discovered the furniture was pieced together and really just beat up from an aesthetics perspective. The bathroom carpets were terribly worn too. It was tough in the bunk area not to have storage for clothes all week. When it came time for dinner, we quickly discovered there was not quality cookware along with bent mismatched silverware. At bedtime, we discovered the water head in the guest bedroom was leaking and didn't provide full strength water pressure. When brushing our teeth, the sink in the master bedroom backed up very quickly and took an extended time to drain. There were two different colored lights above the sink that just seemed janky and annoying that they didn't match with one being bright white and the other soft white. There was also a ball of hair in the shower. When drying our clothes, there was a terrible squeaking noise. We did not continue drying in fear something else was wrong with the unit. Lastly, overall, the unit did not have any amenities for the beach. In the past, units have provided an extra chair or two along with toys and other items that make the beach more fun for the whole family. We recognize this is a corporate-owned unit verses owned by an individual. Therefore, we let it go and went to buy these items. We reported the most pressing issues of the floors and sink clog with maintenance and cleaning coming that day to fix the issues. We appreciated the quick turnaround time. However, while on vacation, we weren't expecting to accommodate having repair people in the unit. We didn't feel safe with them there while we were gone. In addition to the repairs, Orkin stopped by and asked to spray the unit for pests while we were relaxing. Again, not something we expected while trying to enjoy down time.

Cockroach

Late July 2024 unit A422. After anticipating this for a year, we excitedly checked-in Saturday afternoon and used the pool that evening. It was crowded, which wasn't surprising, but the lazy river wasn't great because kids were jumping in and swimming the wrong way, people gathered and standing along the side so that you had to try not to run into them each time around. Not exactly relaxing. The next morning was horrifying - we found 10 cockroaches within 3 hours of waking (adult and baby, coming out of a wall outlet and in drawers). Management offered to relocate us to a unit at Miramar but I asked for a refund (and had to argue to get a full refund after spending my first day killing bugs and on the phone with management). I found a beachfront hotel close by, and the rest of my week was amazing. A lot of people love Waterscape, and maybe the units owned by individuals are better, but I won't book anywhere through Vacasa again.

Horseshoe setup. 0/5 stars

Let's talk about the beach... I'm currently staying at Waterscape, Day 3, the room I'm staying in is unimportant to this review because it is wonderful and I don't want this review to reflect upon the condo owners. I will review them separately with a full 5 star. This resort however, could use some work. Prior to my check-in I had received several emails regarding rules and regulations of the property, never once did they include a map. They should. This place is a labyrinth. Not a set back, but an easily corrected oversight on their part. Next: The fees for this resort are ASTRONOMICAL with cleaning being a huge one. Including cleaning fees like that (nearly the price of all 4 nights) I would expect daily cleanings like one would receive at much cheaper hotels, not the case. You won't have your room cleaned unless you're leaving. All of this could be easily swept under the rug by a beautiful day at the beach, YOU WILL NOT RECEIVE THIS HERE - I REPEAT YOU WILL NOT RECEIVE A BEAUTIFUL BEACH DAY YOU WILL STARE FIRMLY AT YOUR NEIGHBORS FACE AND YOU WILL CHASE THE SHADE ALL DAY BECAUSE OF CHAIR SETUP. I have been coming to Destin/Sandestin for 15+ years and never have I seen the "horseshoe" set up like it is here. There are 3 large horseshoes of chairs that face each other. I will include photos. Day 1 we came down to the beach at 10am, I know the game, first come first serve but I was shocked at the horseshoes. "No matter", we said, thinking we'll get up at 8am when the beach service opens and get better chairs, AGAIN not the case. Day2-3: Not sure how the entire first 2 rows (which is about 6 sets of chairs) that actually face the beach were already reserved with not a soul to be found at 8am. Super frustrating. Wish I would have known about the garbage horseshoe setup before spending thousands of dollars to stare at other people & their personal setups in the middle of the horseshoe. If you're looking to spend some time at the beach, genuinely, go somewhere else. This ain't it. I'll never be coming back here again. Ps- the owners setup is not in horseshoe and enviable. You will not be allowed to replicate it.

Never stayed at a condo before, but I loved it. My girlfriend however has and she said in comparison the best one she's stayed at. Super nice inside along with the staff. The pools and lazy river were great! Very convenient to the beach. Stayed on the 5th floor and had a good view of the ocean. Family friendly for sure. I would definitely rent again. Decent priced, we stayed Friday through Monday. And it's a great place to see the sunset

Stayed B-314 2-bedroom July 6-13, 2019. Place is awesome for families. Had 6-adults and four young grand children. Two adults used bunks and worked just fine. Half bath at bunks. Great pools and worlds best white sand beaches. Now why only 4-stars. Booked through Best Beach Get Aways. Wyndham rents 200 of 300+ units. Our fridge went dead Sun. 7/7 and not fixed until Tuesday. Holiday weekend, but real hassle with baby milk, etc. Wyndham would have fixed by Monday! Unit B-314 looked nice but carpets seemed soiled and porch mold dirty. Moms not happy with two crawling infants. Furniture might be newer but worn. Of course any rental, to be expected. A fan didn't work and struggled with some kitchen ware. Another pet peeve, no extra towel hooks. I highly recommend, but keep in mind, very large place with solid grand parents-parents - and kids-kids-kids. Would not go back, but everything as advertised. Really enjoyed with family!

We stayed at Waterscape Resort last year for our annual family vacation and were very pleased with the property. We rented unit B616 from Kimberly Lang Rentals which we were also pleased with because of their easy booking, guest service, and the discounts they offer returning guests. Waterscape is a very nice resort; it's super big. Be forewarned that Waterscape is a family friendly resort and there are LOTS of kids here; not a place if kids get on your nerves . *Beer helps :) The resort offers great amenities like 2 pools, a splash pad, 2 hot tubs, a lazy river, and access to the beach. The resort grounds are kept very clean; from the grounds to the public areas. Because we rented from a private company we didn't deal with the staff very much, but there were occasions we bumped into workers around the resort and they were always super nice. The location of Waterscape is great! It's on the beach and a short walk to many restaurants and the Okaloosa pier. Across from the hotel is the popular AJ's Seafood that's good for drinks and live music, but the food is sub par, there is also Old Bay Steamer across the street that's a little expensive but well worth it for steamed seafood, and also across the street is several other restaurants and business including a liquor store and gentleman's club (lol). The pier which is a short walk on the beach from the resort also has several restaurants and shops and an aquarium.

Stayed here for Spring Break 2019... unit B503. The unit is awesome... very good sized 2 bedroom plus sleeping area. 2.5 bathrooms. We had 6 people total and it was just right for us. The condo is very tastefully decorated, the beds are fantastic, and they had very nice artwork. Gulf views from the patio were incredible. Management team clearly are professionals... Resort is wonderful too. It's right next to a lot of attractions on the strip. 3 different pools to enjoy. Awesome beach service by great staff. Grills available for cooking on. Overall, just an outstanding property for a family beach vacation. I will be happy to give this one 5 stars

The amazing ocean and pool view from our condo

Went on an all "Ladies getaway with the Kids," which is an annual event for us. We usually reserve a 3 bedroom condo during Memorial Day weekend. The room was definity comfortable and spaceous for our group of 11. The kitchen was fully equipped with every thing we could possibly need to make breakfast, lunch and lite dinner. The room was ocean view, however, from a distance. But you can still hear the waves crashing ashore. Along with beautiful sunsets. Of course you don't travel to Ft. Walton Beach to stay in your room allday, we explored the beach, which was absolutely clean, soft white sand. We were about 5 mins from Destin, 10-15 mins away from the nearest supermarket and 30 mins from the outlet. Such an amazing time...looking forward to next year.

Waterscapes provided every amenity desired for a relaxing, enjoyable, and entertaining family vacation. We traveled with a large group of families that traditionally vacation here every year and I truly understood why they always return. Waterscapes offers a variety of 1-3 bedrooms with fabulous views of the pools, courtyard and ocean. It has several pools, hot tubs, splash pads and even one lazy river. There is a beautiful private beach with a fishing pier close by. The water is clear, a rainbow of emeralds to turquoises and white sugary sands. The resort and beach is clean and very well maintained. Beautiful flowers and plan trees. There are also plenty of dining experiences from seafood, Italian, Mexican and Irish menus. Waterscapes has a variety of condo's that can be view on VRBO, Resort Quest and even on Airbnb. Check them out and book your next trip. You will not be disappointed!

Been here a total of five years and will continue to come back. Fun for all ages especially children though. The have four different pools: two kid areas, one adult, and one lazy river. The best part is you're right on the beach. Every time I've gone I've tried to get a nice beach view. I've stayed in different units each time and they were all lovely. You have the convenience of a nearby Publix for groceries, liquor store right across the street, free movies and unlimited sunshine! Plan your next trip here. You can also walk to many nearby restaurants via sidewalk or even via the beach! With the units you will also get beach seating provides for you with an umbrella. Any issues you may come across during our stay, the front desk is SUPER friendly and will help you resolve it.

Make sure your hotel has an appropriate size fridge before you buy your grocery's if you use this resort. Room 624

Ask the Community - Waterscape Resort

If you rent a jetski for the day, where can you park it when staying at Waterscape? I saw the property says no jet ski parking.

You can rent a spot to park it at Adventure Marina, across the street.

Does anyone know what the daily schedule is at the resort? I was told Friday nights they have fireworks and I also heard of a movie night but I wasn't sure what day

Fireworks are usually on Wednesdays at the pier. Last year we didn’t have them. Covid got in the way of our routine. I’m not sure if they are doing fireworks this year or not haven’t heard. Thursdays there are normally fireworks at the Destin…

The lazy river was nice,…read moreand even though they have limited floaties, I felt we always had a chance to use them when we wanted them. If you go to the beach, you can rent beach chairs and umbrellas from a third party, however it was pricey so I would suggest bringing your own if you plan to go multiple days. They had fireworks on the beach off the pier which were nice to see. They had activities for the kids by the pool, however they do charge extra and are not included with your stay. Only a few minor complaints that aren't deal breakers such as the bathroom sink sprayed water everywhere, sit down breakfast took a long time due to crowds, very slow Wi-Fi, and outdoor showers didn't have enough water pressure to get all the beach sand off adequately. The only pain point I can say about our stay is the website states the parking is $15/day and the hotel staff indicated upon checkout that they now charging $20 and have been for several months. Even though there is nothing indicating the price increased and that they are aware that the website contains the incorrect amount, they refused to honor the $15/day parking price. Although the difference is only $5 (or $7.20 after taxes), this adds up daily. The hotel could have easily accommodated a price match since it is their own website stating a lower amount.

My wife, Juliann, and I just enjoyed our first-ever weekend getaway as a couple without the kids,…read moreand it was exactly what we needed. Let's start with the resort itself. The property is beautifully maintained, clean, and updated. From the moment we arrived, the front desk staff was efficient, friendly, and welcoming. Throughout our stay, the housekeeping and groundskeeping teams were incredibly helpful and, most importantly, genuinely proud of where they worked. That pride was evident in the care they put into every detail and the joy they showed while interacting with guests. The pool area was absolutely gorgeous, and the lazy river offered fun for guests of all ages. One of our favorite features was the waterfall--it created a peaceful ambiance with its calming sound that made it easy to relax and unwind. Beach access was convenient, well maintained, and just steps away. The breathtaking views gave us the perfect opportunity to slow down, reconnect, and enjoy some much-needed time together. A special thank you goes to the staff at Riptides. We highly recommend having breakfast there! Raelynn and Crystal both went above and beyond to make every meal enjoyable. Crystal provided outstanding service and was warm, personable, and attentive throughout our visit. During one lunch, a storm rolled in unexpectedly, and Raelynn made sure we stayed dry, helped us get settled, and quite literally saved our lunch date. Her kindness and quick thinking didn't go unnoticed. We also have to recognize Joe and Diego at the Tiki Bar. These two are true masters of their craft. They were friendly, engaging, and consistently made outstanding cocktails that kept us coming back throughout our stay. We even took advantage of the hot tub and fitness center to start each day refreshed. But as parents, we discovered something important: you go into a vacation thinking you'll pack every minute with activities, when in reality, the greatest memories come from slowing down. At this beautiful Holiday Inn Resort, it was the peaceful moments, meaningful conversations, new friendships, and uninterrupted time together that made this trip unforgettable. Thank you to everyone who helped make our first kid-free getaway such a memorable experience. We can't wait to come back!

Over all, we would stay here again because of the cleanliness, friendliness of staff, convenience of in house restaurant, food truck, outdoor bars and two pools as an option, and walking distance to four other restaurants and souvenir shops and the location was perfect! Everyone has expectations of their own in how they "think" places to stay should be, but, there again, we were very fortunate to be able to book this place and would stay here again. Cons: 1. Did not know that they would put a hold of 445.00 on our credit card for any other charges 2. Phone in room did not work the whole time we were there and notified staff 3. Air conditioner would not go below 68 for sleep and when you were there it would heat up to 74 and very humid in the room as well. 4. Washer Dryer only takes credit cards and not cash 5. Could not check out on the TV as indicated ( really not a big deal, but would have been a convenient factor) 6. There were two front desk employees there, one was finishing checking in a family, so we went to the second, Shade. We were not greeted or even looked at in the eyes, she even yawned in our faces a few times. We checked in around 2pm, but were treated like we were an inconvenience. The only time she smiled at us was when her coworker mentioned she would be next to go on break, then she smiled and laughed with the coworker. We get it, we also worked customer service, even at hotels, so this must have just been an off day for her. When asked how to avoid the smoke fee (as listed in previous reviews) when blowdrying my hair, her advise was to blowdry my hair in a closed bathroom. I could not do that as it was way too hot, so I just didn't blowdry my hair the whole vacation. For the amount we spent for a double room suite- beach front, I should have been able to blowdry my hair in my room without concern for a $250 smoking fee. The next day after we finish up breakfast, we went to the front desk to ask about a late check out on our last day. Shade is there, so we go up smiling and ready to give her another chance. When we ask for a late check out she says and repeats the phrase "you will need to ask day of" about 3x. We understood the first time, but we were asking that IF it was available day of, what time would late check out be? Would it be 12pm, 1pm, 3pm, what was the policy at this specific hotel? "you will need to ask day of". very rude and blunt. That same day, we head to the beach where two chairs and one umbrella cost $60 for the day plus tax (should be included for a "resort") we get a call from the front desk asking us to come back to the front desk because our keys will no longer work for our room. Its my moms birthday, so I tell her to stay and I go from the beach to the front desk (about a 10 minute walk) and speak with a manager. The manager then asks what time we checked in last night because they had us as a no show. The only reason they knew we were there was because housekeeping saw us leave the room that morning. This means that anyone could have checked in our room that night or that day because we had been improperly checked in. I told her we checked in the afternoon (2pm), Shade was there so the manager asked her what happened. She then blamed us for checking in with a "large group". It was just me and my mom, the people before us were checking in with the other front desk employee. There were no apologies, there were no concessions offered, just a "here are your new keys" and that was it. The "resort" is a no smoking resort, but the smell of marijuana was everywhere. We saw a carton of cigarettes floating in the water at the beach on our first day. Even the bands that were hired by the resort were smoking during their sets. The room was cleanish, but really out dated. there were no closets or robes as any other "resort" would provide. The AC worked but it was so loud I was woken up many times by it. We stayed during the fourth of July, and because we were ocean front, all the illegal fireworks on the beach were going off until around midnight. One of the fireworks set off on the beach actually caught the tall grass in front of our rooms on fire. We weren't able to sleep until they stopped. I do not recommend this "resort" in any capacity, but especially for the price. Go elsewhere if you want a relaxing beach vacation

Nothing about this place justifies the price. The lobby is newly renovated and the website paints a beautiful picture. But what's behind those doors tells a completely different story. This place is the definition of catfish. For $528 I could've stayed somewhere truly five star. Never again.

1st, let me say I normally don't give mediocre reviews: only crappy or stellar ones. However, this…read morereview will be a mixed one of my experience as well as a few known serious issues other guests were having. Property was clean: not maintained in a "maintenance" sense, especially regarding the elevators and hot water in Bldg C. Our elevator in Bldg D was out twice: once my daughter was stuck in it & 2 mornings later after its "repair", @ our checkout, we had to carry 50+ lb. Suitcases down 4 steep flights of stairs. This building had 7 floors so I feel bad for those checking out above us. In addition, the surfaces that should've been kept relatively dry or cleaned up after (like the elevator floor) was filthy & wet. I realize this is a beach access elevator but it also leads to the rooms & it was slick at times. We reserved our room April 9 2026 in hopes of having a great room. We got a beach view directly across from the elevator (exterior room access btw), & directly above the smoking patio. (Room 427). Besides being extremely loud (bedroom shared a wall & WINDOW! w/ common landing area), the doors slammed constantly by other guests. Furniture was hip & uncomfortable! Kitchen was nice & clean. Tiny coffee pot. I mean TINY. Biggest worry was hot water was out in bldg C when we checked in on Monday. Wed they were STILL checking folks in NOT telling them about the hot water issue (per direct relay from guests and what I overheard at reg desk). Clerk was passing the buck to next day manager. Offered only a shower in another room. Another guest I overheard booked 3 mo in advance for room with a pull out, and didn't get that. She came back to the clerk and he told her I'm sorry this is the only room we have. We have nothing else available. Why? How are they booking rooms that people didn't ask for? Also I asked for an itemized room charge and had a $325 charge for something I or they did not recognize. I asked for it to be removed and never got an explanation for what it was to begin with. I say overall, Take your chances Don't trust the room you ask for is the one you will have waiting on you. If it's broke when you arrive, it's going to be broken when you leave. Good luck!

My room was clean and the beach was absolutely stunning! Pretty cheap rates considering…read more I removed a star because my room was completely stripped after I asked for a late checkout. My pajamas and toothbrush were gone. I was at least able to get the pajamas back, and the maids were very apologetic.

After all, nearly all of them are in a state of despair, often located in buildings from the 60s and 70s that have been neglected for decades. It's frankly a bit of a sad brand story. The Four Points brand was born in 1995 and largely remained in that time since. Yet, this Four Points in Ft Walton did get some attention. The property just finished up a renovation in 2024 and many elements of the hotel are now looking much better. There is fresh furniture in the rooms, a revamped lobby and a decent pool area. There isn't much change to the depressing exterior design. There are smaller things like paint on the balcony that was not redone and thus continues to peel as you lean to take in the ocean views. It's as budget as budget renovations get, but it's still nice to see things get refreshed and the hotel generally looks borderline acceptable at a 3 star level. The upside is that the resort is actually vast, covering large grounds, with beautiful landscaping of flowers and palm trees. There is a bit of that old Florida motel vibe to the whole place and one could say, it's a bit romantic. When it comes to status recognition, the hotel really stands out. There was an amazing upgrade to an ocean front room, despite the hotel being at near full occupancy. There was late checkout. Lastly, breakfast is really solid for a three star properties with different fruit, waffle makers, potatoes and other classics. As a whole, good for the range where it sits. Thus, Four Points is a now a decent beach property with fresh renovations and status recognition alone might make it a consideration for a return trip if the price is right. It has the basics covered, it's clean and while it might be an eyesore looking at it from the beach, the views of the oceanfront balcony are spectacular.
