We've been sending our dogs to Hidden Acres for years and have had nothing but outstanding experiences. Each of our three dogs has their own eccentricities and could not be more different. When my wife was pregnant we had Hidden Acres "on call" for us to drop the dogs off when she went into labor. Our dogs are always excited when we pull in to drop them off and exhausted when we pick them up. Everyone at hidden acres truly loves dogs and that is evident in everything that they do. They also go above and beyond in terms of customer service, they are pleasant and take the extra step to make sure that the customers needs are more than met. read more

Do NOT bring your dog here if you value its health and happiness. Problems at Hidden Acres include: 1. Being really unresponsive - if you call to make an appointment to drop off your dog, or even to just learn about the facility, you may never get a call back (I ended up going somewhere else the first time I tried to use Hidden Acres, because I NEVER got my message returned). . 2. Being really strict about pickup/dropoff times. The dogs have to stay much longer at the facility than necessary, because they can only be picked up during certain windows (two 2-hour windows morning and night). In the summer there is two night minimum on the weekends, which is ridiculous. They also stress "Please do no just drop by the kennel without an appointment". . 3. Overall lack of monitoring of the dogs leading to dangerous situations - a problem that is prevalent throughout the owner's businesses. Please read the filtered reviews both for Hidden Acres and for the other facilities he runs/ran (Tall Tails) to get a picture of how they are operated. Last time one dog ended up with a huge gash on its side, which we only realized upon getting home - the staff hadn't said anything, and we have no way of knowing if it was caused by another dog or by a fence. read more

A very unsafe place for your dog. I used to take my dog here two years ago and this was my experience: There will only be one person ever working at a time no matter how many dogs are inside and outside. I was always a little nervous but it seemed ok until one time my dog was returned to me with a huge cut on his side that needed to be stapled shut by the vet. (I added the photo). I understand dogs can get cut, no big deal but no one had at all noticed and it was a gross mess of new and dried up blood. The vet said the cut was likely 48 hours old. The owners paid for the vet bill and were very apologetic so I took my dog back one last time. I had scheduled to drop him off and when I arrived there was literally not a single human on site and the dogs were unsupervised out in the woods, in the rain. Not only had that forgotten my appointment, but I called the number which transfers to the owners cell and he explained they had just left and would be back later THAT EVENING. Crazy. Again, he was very nice and apologetic and I'm sure it's costly to fully staff a place like this but just seems very unsafe to me. read more

Hidden Acres is as good as a dog kennel can get. They offer pick-up and drop-off to my home in Boston, they charge one flat rate that includes LOTS of outdoor play time, and they regularly update me with photos of my dog playing in their huge dog run! They are also incredibly flexible, and allow me to pay with Paypal and make boarding arrangements via text. Most importantly, they are caring and friendly. They know my dog's name and habits and take great care of him while he stays. He always comes home clean, exhausted, and happy. Disappointed Long-Time Customer I have been bringing my dogs to Hidden Acres for over 10 years and they have been awesome until this last visit. I noticed that Jordan was not present at all which is strange because he was always there. My dog came back with an injury to his face but more concerning he was extremely dehydrated and drank 2 full bowls of water immediately when he got home (only 5 min away from the facility). I understand dogs have altercations and maybe don't eat like they should when boarded but it is unlikely an animal will refuse water. He also has been crying since he got home and seems nervous and unsettled. I hope that he was not actually abused while there but I will never know. This seems like a classic case of a great place gone bad. Its unfortunate but I will be looking for a new place to board my dog. Beware of the good reviews, I picked up my dog 8/26/19. read more

The folks here are warm, friendly, and genuinely caring. I really love the daily photo Updates that they send as it makes me feel comfortable about leaving my best bud here when I travel. I also love the large outdoor "play" area and the fact that my big girl can romp with her fellow fur friends! Our dogs have never been boarded before due to always being around family and friends that were available to take care of our dogs however when we moved 2000 miles away from our friends and family we needed a place to board them. We found Hidden Acres Kennel here on Yelp and decided to give them a try. When we picked our dogs up after a long weekend you could tell they had a blast! They slept for days because they are not used to being able to play for hours on end with other dogs and the pictures provided by staff throughout the weekend really put my wife and I at ease because you could see the smiles on the dogs faces as they played. My wife (still feels weird to say that!) and I boarded our pup Dougie here for 16 days during our wedding/honeymoon. We haven't had the little guy for that long, and we were a little worried how he'd react to being boarded for such a long time. The one thing he goes absolutely crazy for is dog park time, though, so we knew we had a good shot of success with this one. Boy, were we right or what?! Jordan runs a brilliant operation over there. Martha and JD sent us several pictures daily of Dougie at play (and a few of him laying in the dirt from pure exhausted bliss). We just got him back on Sunday. Martha warned us that Dougie was probably going to sleep for a week (Day 3 and so far she's right on). Theres been zero adjustment back (in fact, he's been a happier dog!) and it's obvious by looking at him that he got a great workout for 2 and a half weeks. We will absolutely use Hidden Acres again for all of our overnight boarding needs, and maybe even some doggie daycare as a special treat! As an aside, the roughest adjustment we had to having Dougie back was right as we picked him up. He cried in the car until Hidden Acres was out of sight. If that's not a dog who wanted to stay longer, I don't know what is! read more

Love, love, love this place! My dogs come back happy and relaxed....none of the usual "transition" time they used to need coming home from other boarding facilities. In fact, when I drop off the dogs they don't even give me a second look, they just go running to play with their friends. We boarded our pups there for a week while we went to Disney. We took them to our vet to be health cleared before being boarded- and they were great! Well during their stay (when we were on vacation) one of our older pups apparently got sick. They never told us or did anything about it. We came home from our trip and went straight to pick up our pups. One was acting really sick and couldn't even pick up his head to kiss us hello. They told us he'd been throwing up the whole time we were gone. We went right to our vet...but he died that day. We were on vacation and got engaged, while our pup was dying. I can't describe how much guilt I have. Our vet wrote Hidden Acres a letter saying that if they'd have sought treatment days earlier, our pup would have lived. Pls don't bring your animals there. I'm sure their intentions were great- but they didn't act responsibly and we lost our pup because of it. Don't take that chance. I wish I'd researched this place before bringing our animals there. Absolutely love this place! I love the open play time that the dogs get everyday, the truly caring staff, the perfect prices and the unique setting of this dog kennel. My dogs have even been fully groomed by their groomer whom I'd also recommend. This I the best kennel I've ever used and one I would drive an hour+ to use if needed. I recommend highly! I'd never boarded my dog before as I was always nervous that he would never be the same after - I have to say, Hidden Acres completely went beyond my expectations. Although not thrilled to be left, my dog clearly felt okay in the environment and didn't seem scared at all. They photos and text updates that the staff sent over the week were priceless - totally made me feel good, and quelled my stepdaughter's fears that our dog wouldn't be safe or happy. We have been bringing our standard poodle Rowan to Hidden Acres when we can get away for Labor Day weekend. He is 70 pounds of high, intense energy, and he loves his time at "camp," rampaging with the pack. I don't think he even misses us! I can't imagine taking him to a place where he's penned up. We have complete confidence in Jordan and his crew. This time we had to send Rowan with medications and these were all handled well. We have boarded our dogs here for 5+ years and our dogs love it at Hidden Acres. They are athletic dogs so the outdoor space at Hidden Acres is a game changer. It could have been natural causes but there were too many suspicious incidents following for me not to question if it was negligence, including the staff member being fired the day after and the fact that no one even called the 4 emergency numbers left, which was never explained. We boarded our dog Goose here for almost two weeks and couldn't say enough good things about Jordan and his staff. We toured the facility in July and Jordan gave us a great tour of the facility. The area the dogs sleep in was very spacious for each dog and very clean. Having a fenced in acre of land for the dogs to roam free is just about unheard in the Boston area. We could tell Jordan loved owning and running the kennel and cared for each and every dog and we felt very at ease boarding our dog with him and his staff. While we were away out of the country we would get daily pictures of our dog Goose playing with other dogs and looking like she had a great time. Our dog is two years post hip replacement and the staff was very accommodating to keep a good eye on her and make sure that she wasn't playing too hard and displaying any limping or lameness. When we picked her up she wasn't even eager to leave and go home! haha. She slept for three days after we got her and we didn't notice one bit of limping, lameness or soreness. we will definitely be boarding Goose at Hidden Acres again and will be recommending it to all of our friends and family. read more

This is the first time I've brought my two schnauzers to a kennel rather than a friends house for over night stays and just like most people, I assume, I was a little nervous! I stopped by a few weeks ahead of time to check out the facility and I loved the fact that there was a ton of shaded outdoor space for the dogs to run and play. My dogs love to be outside so I surely didn't want them at a place that would require them to be in an enclosure most of the day. I was told that they would spend a lot of the day outside interacting with other dogs and well supervised during that time. The prices were great and made it much easier, financially, to leave my two dogs there. During the three days away I sent a few emails and they were returned quickly and they also sent daily pictures and updates which I greatly appreciated because I was a nervous momma for sure!! I honestly didn't worry at all after the first update/pictures so I was able to enjoy my few days vacation! I certainly would recommend Hidden acres to anyone in need of a fun, interactive and safe place to leave their dogs even if it's just for the day! This place seems to have generally good reviews, however, my experience must have been an outlier. I sent my dogs there, sad to see them go, and a week later I picked them up and was surprised to find that one dog had a large cut on her eye. Another of my dogs had a mark on the side of her face. The last dog returned sick and had diarrhea. My smallest dog returned at least a pound lighter. This might not sound like much but its a lot for a 9-pound dog. I deduced that it couldn't be exercise, as they were not at all tired, they were actually very hyper and ran around for 30 minutes. It seems that the dogs aren't watched by anyone. I had a bit of a bad feeling about this place at first and I hope I don't have to use this place again. I highly advise not choosing Hidden Acres as your dog kennel. read more

We board our two dogs here a couple times every year. One dog is large and socializes well with other dogs and it's like camp for her. The other is a Chihuahua- not everyone's favorite breed- and they make sure she is happy and safe as possible. Her play time is only with the small dogs and she stays in a kennel with her big sister. The owner is very accommodating as to pick up and drop off. It makes our vacations so much nicer knowing our dogs are happy! read more

Hidden Acres is a great option for dog boarding. I've sent my dog here about four times in the past year, and she loves it. She comes back looking healthier and happier than ever. She gets plenty of exercise in the fenced-in wooded area, and I get frequent photo, video and email updates during her stay. Round-trip transportation is available for your dog, and Hidden Acres also provides baths so your dog comes home clean. Great facilities indoor and out, excellent supervision, daily photos texted to me, payment through Paypal, baths before the dogs come home, and a great owner who's talented with dogs, has always been responsive and extends himself within reason to owners, and is an excellent businessman who's always worked to improve his operations over the 12 years I've known him. I've had 3 dogs during that time who were part of his old daycare operation and then graduated to vacations at his Rehoboth facility. All three (2 collies and a sheltie, with quite differing personalities) loved the experience and Jordan and his staff, coming home content and sleeping for days after all the exercise. Boston pickup and drop-off from home makes this the best outfit I've ever dealt with -- wouldn't send my dog anywhere else. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DON'T BRING YOUR PETS HERE!! I JUST used this place two weeks ago, I just got my dogs back to health. Also never answered when I called to check on them and when I FINALLY got in touch with him he acted like"no big deal" no,"I'm sorry I missed your call" nothing.he kept referring to my dogs as little mice (due to them being very small) 4LBS+5LBS... I can understand "joking" but to literally saying "your little mice" ALOT...I mean come on and lets get to when I picked up my babies (two shih tzues ), the owner had the audacity to SLIDE my babies out of the kennel into the office on their brand new $40 BED, FULL OF VOMIT AND FECES! He just left them there and wouldn't pick them up or touch them , like as if they were too much of a mess for even him to touch! .I'm literally a mess over this.I feel responsible because my dogs trust me to keep them safe and I put them in that situation, they were dehydrated as well as lost weight. One of my dogs had a terrible eye infection. Yes,my dogs have been boarded before so it's not anything new.(I moved recently so I was looking for a place closer) so now the least I can do is to make sure others are FULLY AWARE of this place so they don't ever have to go through this. My boys have been going to hidden acres a few times a year for going on 5 years. Jordan has always been caring, responsive, and very willing to go out of his way to accommodate our needs. They've dealt with giving medications many times. We've left them for as long as two weeks and they've come back healthy and happy every time. They love going there, we usually use their transportation service but have dropped off and picked up a few times. As soon as the dogs figure out where they're going they start to whine excitedly the same way they do when we take them to their other favorite places. The last time I dropped them off they ran to see Martha and headed straight out to the yard with barely a glance back at me. Martha sends us cute texts and we always get daily photos of them having fun. They are clearly very happy when they're there. As others have said, they come home exhausted, which I see as a good thing. Sure they've come home with a small scratch here and there, but that's to be expected when they spend their days playing with a bunch of dogs in the woods.
