We wanted to stay in unique places and I feel so incredibly lucky that I saw this place!! The entire experience started off so nicely when Kim (one of the owners) called us the day we were arriving to ask about our arrival time so her or her husband Mark could be there to welcome us, and she also offered to make us an early continental breakfast since we were leaving before 8am the next day. It was so kind, but we declined because we were good to grab food on the road so we could get home. But that level of customer service and genuine kindness was a perfect example of our stay! Mark met us and gave us a tour of the BEAUTIFUL house, told us about the history, showed us historical photos they got from the granddaughter of the man who first built it. He offered us wine and coffee and the best banana bread I've ever had (seriously I need to email them for the recipe), and he even let us meet his puppy which made my daughter so happy! The house itself is incredible. Mark and Kim did an impossible task renovating it from abandoned nightmare to a breathtaking home that feels luxurious and so special. It really would be perfect for a small family celebration or wedding! Our favorite parts were the atrium in the center of the house that still had the 100+ year old birds of paradise plants that the original owner brought there from Guatemala, and the fact that their beautiful Christmas decorations were still up. We were extra lucky to be the only people staying there, so we really had the run of the house and got to hang out in their gorgeous living room to enjoy the Christmas decor and watch a movie together on our tablet. Everything was clean, the beds were so comfy, the amenities were awesome, the owners are SO SWEET, and Mulberry Manor is one of the most beautiful places I've ever stayed. We've been home a few days and my daughter is still talking about it! If you get the chance, I cannot recommend it enough!

See that Yelp page for reviews on the RR. Coliseum was A-OK. Dirt floor, so that tells you what most events are, i.e. events with animals that have hooves. Given the size of crowd, the facilitates were kept clean. I was a bit surprised at the liquor options. Of course I expected beer, but there were quit a few liquor options too. If I can find the picture, I'll upload it. Not sure if that's the case for all events, but it was for the RR. Bottom line: I really can't imagine being back in Sweetwater. It was kinda a fluke that my brother and I were driving back from Big Bend National Park, and the timing was right to swing through Sweetwater.

Cotton Creek Barn had my review removed stating it "depicted an experience not at this location".... I have dozens of photos to prove that we were at THE Cotton Creek Barn in Tahoka, TX. The food was awful: the chicken was dry and tasteless, macaroni-and-cheese tasted like a box mix, definitely not homemade, scalloped potatoes were bland tasteless (no salt/pepper shakers were available), cupcakes were dry. Definitely the worst wedding food we have ever had. We talked about how bad it was all the way home. The servers wore cut-off blue jean shorts & t-shirts, for a wedding. They started picking up the table runners before the wedding was even over, which caused a drink that someone had left on our table to spill all over my glasses which were on the table. We were standing right there, but she did it so quickly that we didn't have time to even offer to pick them up. Then when she saw that they were ours (we picked them up and were shaking them off), she just kept going like it was our fault. No apology.
