For starters, it is one of the only historic homes I've visited where majority of the framework, fisxtures, furnishings and finishing are the originals from when the home was constructed. It costs $10/person to view and you have free reign to walk about the entire house to see and learn about the different aspects of it. The house was deeded to a preservation society and there are volunteers in each room waiting to enlighten the visitors on the house's history. It was fully decorated for the Christmas season with lavish trees and ornaments everywhere. It was a lot, but very tasteful. If you're into history, decor, old homes or antiques, you should definitely stop here if you're in Abilene. Oh... they also have cookies!
