I've been coming to Hickory weekly and typically have had great experiences. However, Friday night, my wife and I sat right in front of the kitchen door, so we had full view of them preparing food. To our disgust, we observed the assistant kitchen manager placing his bare hands on top of food to apparently check the temperature. He also was grabbing fries with his hands, after wiping his nose. We brought our concerns to another manager and he subsequently put gloves on. read more

Convenient location having just been to the movies. Food and service were ok. My boyfriend and I both had lobster rolls. I should know better but was excited to see it on menu. I'm from Boston and its impossible to get good seafood here. Prep of lobster was off, way too salty. Server wasn't attentive, but polite. read more

The wait times at Hickory Tavern make no sense. We were a party of 6. They separated 2 different sets of tables that were already set up for 6-8 people to sit smaller groups that came in well after us. A 30-45 min wait when there are many empty tables in the place is crazy. read more

The service is horrible in this location. Please do not waste your time stopping here. I normally do not leave bad reviews but after multiple attempts this review is well deserved. The bartenders are horrible. They willingly ignore customers. The manager walks around clueless to the mannerisms of his guests. I waited 40 min on a cheeseburger plate to go. Other customers around me were complaining about the same issues! One bartender told the manager about a complaint from a customer and he refused to talk to the customer. Instead he walked around smiling as he watched TV's. Absolutely the worst experiences at any restaurant. read more

I was skeptical when this place open...I was thinking...great...another Buffalo Wild Wings wannabe. I was completely wrong. Yes, the theme is the same, but the food and service took me by surprise. Our server was so attentive and friendly. The wings were cooked perfectly...juicy and flavorful. I got the lobster roll and the portion was plentiful. I will definitely be back. read more

Was surprised this place is open till 2am on Fri and Sat, haven't seen that around the area. The place was packed on a Friday night, and the outside patio area is nice with TVs. Food is good, nothing spectacular. Had the shrimp tacos and a side saad, both were good. The beer menu is good, but not overwhelming like you find at ale houses. read more

Hickory Tavern - Shrimp po boy - American Near Me - Cary, North Carolina

We have eaten here before several times and all were really pretty good especially closer to their opening, but tonight we came specifically for beer and crab legs . While the beer didn't disappoint the crab legs did . Crab legs would've been great with good butter but imagine dunking your crab legs into movie theater butter ... Horrible ! We also weren't brought a pail, claw crackers , or small forks . We asked and received all but the forks . He manager brought butter for 1 of us ( despite us both having crab legs in front of us ) fixed it.... But our food was well below par . After asking the manager for the small forks he returned with 1 again . Nothing was comped and that was all we heard from it . Lesson to take away ... Don't expect too much from the manager, butter, or crab legs . But the beer hasn't let us down yet ! read more

The food here was not great.. I ordered chicken nachos and they came out cold and completely stuck together. My grilled chicken sandwich was not seasoned at all. The waitress was nice that's about it. I don't see myself ever returning because of the food. I came in hungry and left hungry. read more

I'm a fan. Went during the game a day ago and whilst it was packed, the bartenders seemed to be distracted? You had to really shout or wave a hand to get their attention and that's when they weren't doing other things. Now the food was really good! Drinks were meh, and I'm not quite sure the bartender (male, black hair, gauges in his ears?) really knew what he was doing. The girl wasn't any better because she seemed to never want to make eye contact with ANY customer. They weren't mean, but maybe just not experienced. They never checked up on anyone unless someone called out to them, even when the bar slowed down after the game. Our bartender was more concerned with cleaning and shutting down the bar? We tried to order the crab dip but they were out - sad! But when we questioned about nut allergies he seemed confused and almost tried to brush it off like, 'I don't think anything has nuts in it'. Food allergies aren't something to mess around with and I can understand if you are unsure, but to be on the safe side, it's best to say, I can't give you that answer, or they MIGHT. Overall food was good, crowd was good, it's a nice environment. Service needs to perk up but it won't stop us from coming back! read more

Lunch today was our first visit. Host was friendly and we were seated quickly. And then we sat...and sat. There were at least 5 waiters/waitresses working in our section of maybe 12 tables that were not all seated, but nobody acknowledged we were there. I finally went back to the host and he looked to see who our server was and went to get her. At least 5 minutes later she arrived to get our drink order. No "sorry to keep you waiting", nothing. The food was good but there are too many other places serving good food to pay for bad service. read more

My family and I stopped by here tonight. It was our first time here and we kinda came in looking for bad things based on the reviews we read. I'm happy to report that the food was great. My wife had the buffalo chicken sandwich and I had the El Diablo burger. She enjoyed hers and kind was fantastic. I'm really going to recommend that the folks reading my review disregard some of the negative reviews you see. Hickory has a clean restaurant, friendly staff and great food. What else do you want? We plan on coming back and probably make it a regular stop for us. We were in and out in about an hour. Thanks Hickory Tavern for a pleasant dining experience. read more

One poor review is for one meal. Wonderful place, stepped it up, great food and great times. Go there or use DDash!

My husband loved his Colorado chicken. I would NOT recommend the hot crab dip...not sure if there was any crab in it because all we could taste was onions so much so our eyes were watering...not a fan at all. My "steamed shrimp was wayyyyy over done. The side salads were very good and fresh read more

We have been going since they opened a few months ago and has quickly become a part of our routine restaurants. Tonight we went and had also just also started eating clean today which we told our waiter Michael. He took our complicated orders and quickly noticed our food was not out within a reasonable time- notified the manager who came to check on us. Michael told us that the manager had offered free dessert to which he informed that we were on a diet so that wouldn't be okay. So they comped our meals. The amount of responsibility they took for something that wasn't really that big of a problem speaks so well of them. Best customer service we have had in a really long time. Props guys! We'll be back to see you soon. read more

I went yesterday for the first time with some friends. We sat out on the porch which was not crowded at all and had THE BEST service we have had in a long time! Our waiter, Chris, was on the ball with everything and was really funny to talk to. Normally places are busy during football games and the service can be hit or miss, but Hickory Tavern was excellent! I would go back there in a heartbeat! Highly recommend! read more

I LOVE coming here! The strawberry patch margarita is my absolute favorite. The bartenders there are always awesome and the food is great. It's a really fun hangout spot, exactly what this shopping center needed! read more

My family and I tried this one night for a family dinner. First off the wait staff was awesome she alone deserves five stars. The mood was nice (though if you're outside some other patrons will forget where they are and start screaming behind you to get a friends attention walking by) the food was the only reason I didn't give this place five stars. It's not bad but it's not "omg amazing!" The crispy Brussels sprouts were good, and I was ok with my shrimp po-boy but I wanted more flavor. They do give you a nice portion of shrimp in the sand which though always a plus in my book. So if you're in the area stop in, it's definitely a nice place to have a beer and watch the game in. read more

Hickory Tavern is great! I went with some of my friends for an early dinner and we sat outside. The outdoor seating had a fan which was very nice- as it was hot out. Our waitress, Ty, was so funny and sweet. She definitely made the experience great. Our food was great and didn't take long to come out. Overall, we had a great time! read more

Stopped by for a bit and got wonderful bar service from Evan and Marissa. They are on top of it.

Ty was excellent waitress. Bar b que nachos were delicious!. Try a refresher. My favorite summer cocktail.

Great Lunch! Ask to sit in Tye's section! Best service and great food. She is very friendly and even can offer suggestions of menu items!!

We've been here a few times since they opened. We were really pumped to have this place so close to home. All of our visits have generally been great. Great service, great food. When ordering the chicken salad sandwich once, the bread was broken and barely covered half of the sandwich. I asked for a different piece of bread and they were happy to help. Will definitely have to come back during Football season and try the wings. read more

This is a fun hangout spot with good food and good service. There are plenty of televisions to watch games. The drink menu is large as well. I've been here twice and both times were enjoyable. The place is super clean, including the bathrooms. Victor is a great bartender/server, even with one arm broken! Anytime I'm in the area, I will be visiting here. read more

Sooo good! Left just now and I had to write this because it was so good. Sunday brunch a little hungover I did not want to wait 30 mins to get sat (went to Briggs and the egg and I..long wait) the hostess was super friendly our server Anthony was great and the manager Eric stopped by to say hi. Amazing brunch!!! Baked omelette and the chicken and waffles are soo good :) read more

Open and airy atmosphere...the waitress was very nice, attentive & informative...however, the food took a little long to receive. My son ordered the buffalo chicken sandwich with fries and loved it. I had the fiesta salad and it was also very good. We would go again :) read more

The Hickory Tavern at Parkside is the best sports bar in the area. Multiple TV's and always an accommodating manager or bartender willing to put on the game of your choice. From the animated waiter "Young Fry" who is an exceptionally jovial server, to the consummate professional bartenders Evan, Misa, Eric, and Ashley...the staff is competent, and well above the average local product. Managers Kenny, Chris, Joe and Jamie have done a great job keeping quality talent to front their establishment. The only criticism I would have about Hickory Tavern is their obvious cost cutting measures. While corporate branding is effective in a consistent message and theme to quality, --it is also abundantly obvious that the establishment walks a fine line at nickel and diming itself out of existence. read more

I don't know where to start this was one of our favorite restaurant experiences as a family. I had never been to hickory tavern before tonight. Every Friday our family try's to make it out to eat. Our daughter suggest Hickory Tavern before we went to see a movie. As soon as we entered the restaurant the atmosphere was inviting with the hostess greeting us with warm friendly smiles. Our kids loved the TV that played all the funny videos and of course my husband was in heaven because of the sports. The food was phenomenal. When you think of a sports bar you don't think of steak and seafood. I was hesitant at first but it was a great decisions as the crab legs were out of this world. My husband loved the steak and the kids loved the wings. Management was great making sure everything was good with our service. By far the best part of our night was our server Fry. We eat out at least once a week and he was one of the best servers we have ever had. Energetic, friendly and authentic. Most of the time servers do a great job but it feels like they are going through the motions. In this case I could tell he was genuine and able to carry a conversation our kids couldn't stop laughing. Hickory Tavern will be a place we visit again. Great food, great service, great atmosphere. I would definitely recommend Hickory Tavern if you haven't been there yet. Five Star restaurant. read more

Everything I've eaten here has been great, and the service has always been just as good. The atmosphere is really nice, very laid back and casual. You can see every game happening from any point in the bar, since there are so many TVs; however, it doesn't have the rowdy, sports-bar feel. This is a perfect spot for after work drinks, watching the game, or simply eating out. They have an extensive selection of beer and other drinks. This is one of my favorite spots for eating out on the weekends. For a casual eatery, I have no complaints. read more

My husband's burger was well done and he asked for medium. The bun was burnt as well. My lobster roll had a lot of lobster, but lacked some flavor. Overall, pretty mediocre to bad. Won't return. read more

Came to watch football. Restaurant wasn't overly busy but as it got busier our service went downhill. Took 15 minutes to get a beer. Asked for side of queso because tavern chips were bland. Had to ask three times. My husbands cheesesteak sandwich was also delivered incorrectly (he asked for no peppers and onions). Took more than 10 minutes to get a new one. Atmosphere was ok just expected more. read more

This place rocks. To be honest they have messed something up each of the four times I've been there to eat, but they handle everything extremely well. Great atmosphere, friendly staff, it will only get better over time. read more

Have been twice. Cool atmosphere, servers I had were great, very attentive. It's a little pricey, but food has been good. Only one issue, a bartender brought drinks to our table and while trying to reach over everyone, instead of going to the person the drink was for to serve a drink, she dumped whiskey all over my phone. She didn't even care, said oops and walked away while I was trying to grab something to wipe it off my screen. It wasn't just a little drop either. Young rude girl. Otherwise decent place. read more

Just OK. Great place to watch a game due to number of TVs. Nachos were great but blackened salmon was very disappointing. It was way too salty. I would have preferred to love my salmon and be disappointed in nachos. Been here twice and was just ok both times. read more

I enjoyed a friendly reception on a pretty busy weeknight and was visited quickly by Stephanie (ask about her favorite salad!) who guided this first- timer through the good sized menu. Eventually I went with a create your own salad. (I know it's a weak selection in a sports bar...but you don't know my Doctor). The Tavern has an incredible number of high quality TVs and they all work...what a concept. Others could learn from this place/ My order arrived in just under 15 minutes...maybe a bit long but the televised Olympics kept me occupied so the time passed nicely. My salad was fresh and the meat was fresh and tasty. The presentation was right on target and it was a good sized entrée. The place was terrific: Personable, well-trained server, a clean restaurant with a spotless bar, a visit by the manager and the Fabulous Thunderbirds amongst the music selections...it doesn't get much better. I seldom say it but this is a place I'd go out of my way to visit with friends or alone. read more

Am highly disappointed recently. Love this place. Great food. Great service. Love the staff. But.... they constantly run out of the wine I like (6 weeks in a row). And my husbands drink of choice (captain Morgan). Again for weeks in a row What's going on??? read more

Service is so bad. Food is inconsistent. Place is dirty had to get our own paper towels from the bar today, no silver ware to speak of...my daughter had Mac and cheese???? Management is comical. Bartender on duty today was the saving grace. Can't wait till some other places open so we can ditch this place. My daughter had to steal the Rose I was supposed to get for Mother's day. Never received the gift card they advertised. Place is so awful they are just so lucky they are the only pub option now. read more

Nice place for bar food. The decor was fond and typical of such a place. We came for lunch and had salads that were average. There is a good variety of choices some ethnically based such as Mexican or Thai. The service was friendly and she kept our drinks filled. read more

Blah. Another "sports bar" that doesn't standout for any reason. Was a bit disappointed because I hoped this One would be a little different. Waitress was nice enough but this isn't going to last without some additional thought put into this place. read more

All I can say is wow!! From the door being opened upon my entry to the service being super friendly and on point!! I did have a slight problem wit my food but the manager on duty names Jamie took care of so quickly I almost forgot I asked for the change.... the wings tho are a whole nother story and if u come in the right day they give u a duper discount!! Lots of Tv's for all sports lovers and great bartenders I would moat definately Come back here to eat again real soon!! read more

Unfortunately the quality of food continues to decline. We requested extra crispy wings and almost 30 minutes later our wings came out and they were soggy. Both orders.... The tater tots came out cold and were half the amount that we would normally receive. At least the kids hot dog came out okay. The draft beer menu continues to disappoint.... So many taps..... So many domestic beers..... In the era of craft beers, why every variation of Coors, Michelob, Miller, and Budweiser........ The server and manager were great and took one of the wing orders off our menu. read more
