After being sat we waited for 10 minutes before going to the host stand to ask if we had a waiter. She said she'd send one over. Another 7-8 mines pass and I went up again, at which point a girl said she would come take care of us. Alcohol arrived before kids' drinks and she never checked on the food after it hit the table. She had ample time to do what she was supposed to, because we saw her chatting up one of the male servers in the corner multiple times. We asked for a refill on a kids drink, and it never came. I ended up going to the bar to get it refilled. To top it off, I contacted the store directly and never received a response. The food is okay value, but the service is garbage and we won't be frequenting this place anymore. You shouldn't either. read more

Food is always great but both times I have come the service is terrible. Went on Friday at 1 pm wasn't that busy but our waitress was a ghost. Had to signal her to refill our drinks and took forever to give us our check. Sorry I won't be back. read more

The ONLY saving grace was the food. This restaurant is too big and does not have enough staff. We sat waiting on our food way too long. So long that I just wanted to pay for our drinks and appetizers and leave. Right as I was ready to flag someone down, our food arrived, and it was hot and delicious. No one checked on us or asked if we needed anything. Once we were done eating, we sat for a long while until someone noticed we were just sitting there. Our experience really wasn't that great, but the food was good and hot. read more

Super rude waitress named Sarah, she'd check her apple watch and read her texts when we were trying to order, she'd walk by and leave dirty dishes on the table & I'm would roll her eyes at us ... however super friendly bar staff who make good cocktails & the food is usually pretty good. The chicken wings have a lot of meat on them & the ahi tuna is never over cooked (not sushi level fresh but this isn't a Japanese restaurant or anything). Also y'all... there are no words for how delicious the chocolate cake is read more

Such a great spot!! Melissa and Andrew gave us such a great experience! We've been here several times and have never been disappointed.

The food is usually fairly decent but the bar continued to be a struggle for me. I use to have a issue with getting adequate service but now it's the price of my drink. I ordered a double goose on the rocks. I get this drink at different bars around the triangle. Bonefish- $12 PF Chang's 10-12 Maggianos - 13 Ok ready for it Hickory tavern - 18.94 Now I remember why I don't come here! read more

I made a reservation for 16 for a work group meal. The manager had cautioned me that due to COVID, their staffing was still on the low side, so we should expect that things would take longer than "usual". Food was good (at least my salad was), and service was excellent. It didn't take any longer than pre-COVID to get our food, even though we had a couple of group members who came in late, so I was pleasantly surprised. Wait staff initially brought the wrong tacos to one person and didn't charge us. Thanks for going the extra mile to serve our large group! read more

My family and I went here prior COVID and loved this location. Food and service was always great. BUT beware DO NOT go to this locations. Service was HORRIBLE and unfortunately the Food was AWFUL! The food took 45 minutes and there was barely anyone in the restaurant. Server never checked in to give us up dates on the delay of our order. I had to constantly ask for our server. Hostess was clueless. You would ask her a question and she would say " aaaaaaaa let me check" but would never come back with an answer. My daughter ask if they still had the chocolate cake and the hostess was clueless!! DO NOT go to this location you will waste your money on awful service and food. Drive down the road to the Holly Springs locations. read more

Well, they just lost a customer. Tried to make a reservation for two and was told by the hostess, after she checked with the manager, they couldn't take reservations for two because it was their busy time. Management, just so you know, the way you stay busy is to not treat small parties as if they do not matter. It was just the two of us this time, but we have friends and family we will not be bring to your establishment. read more

Food was ok. I ordered a local beer and after about five minutes they said they were out. Then my wife ordered a mojito. They came back and said they cannot make it because they are out of mint. Ordered barbecue chicken flatbread for app. Could not find the chicken. Service was ok. read more

I have been to this location of hickory tavern a few times and it is nothing extraordinary. The service is subpar, at best, each time. The bar staff is not friendly or welcoming. They appear to be short staffed or just simply not attentive. I will start looking for a different local bar to sone my money on. read more

Waited forever for someone to seat us, watched a waitress stand by water and braid her hair then serve customers without washing hands at the very least. Food was ok, wasnt very warm. Bathroom was disgusting, not a very friendly staff. Many options around, I suggest to go somewhere else. read more

Came here twice since I've been in Raleigh on business. Very good food and service here! Their salads are amazing and loaded with generous portions of meat. The shopping center is also nice and new and has tons of places to walk around and shop! read more

I was visiting this past weekend and decided to give hickory tavern a try based off of the reviews here. I was impressed with the quality of service I received! Gianna was my server and was so attentive to our needs. She was the perfect balance of attentive, but not overbearing (we've all had a server swing from one extreme to the other). The food was delicious-- the chicken quesadilla was big enough for two people to split and the toppings came on the side; the salmon had some sort of nut glaze that created a delicious blend of sweet and salty. In addition, the ambiance of the restaurant was nice. There were tvs all around but it didn't feel overwhelming. This would be a perfect place to go with friends to hang out, watch a game or just grab a drink. If she's working, I suggest asking for Gianna-- I've worked in the food industry before and was impressed with this young lady. read more

ate at the Cary location for a late afternoon snack had hood food and great service from Molly!

I went today with a friend for lunch. I ordered a burger. They asked me how I wanted and I said medium. When they brought the food I realized it was well done. I mentioned to the server and I order another medium burger and after waiting for a while she brought me another well done. I was doing intermittent fasting and I didn't want to return it and wait again so I ate it even though it was not the way I like it. The manager Jamie showed up and explained me they make it pink or well done and I mentioned to him that was not even pink. I was very disappointed because He didn't give me any credit and charged me twice for the bacon. I definitely not going back because the food and customer service was below average. It is a shame bcs that is one of the restaurant closest to home... read more

I came here for a quick lunch and everything was great! The beer was ice cold. The bartender was very friendly and attentive.

My wife and I got a burger, and fish and chips. The food was bad. My tater tots were basically raw, and the burger had no flavor aside from grease. Service wasn't bad, but not great. They were busy-ish, so I wasn't upset about that. I could imagine coming in for a drink to watch a game, but wouldn't recommend either of the dishes we got. read more

Our apartment community decided to use Hickory Tavern to host our Happy Hour. These guys were great! The staff called a week out to help us plan the menu and then printed out a menu for our group. The event was such a huge success and Hickory Tavern was a big part of it. Their wait staff were very attentive to our guests. We couldn't have asked for better bar food - burger sliders, chicken tenders, quesadillas, hummus platter and chips and salsa. If you're looking for a corporate luncheon or dinner location, I couldn't recommend them any higher. read more

This place sucks. Not Hickory Tavern in general (I've been to several), just this specific location. Tonight was my third attempt to give this place the benefit of the doubt, but the service/management is sorely lacking. Every time we've been, there has been an extremely long wait for our food (40+mins after placing the order). The restaurant is never at capacity, so something doesn't add up. I would save your money and time and go somewhere else.....perhaps the Bad Daddy's across the parking lot or even the Hickory Tavern at Park Side Town Commons.....just not the one here read more

The service is Terrible! Sat at the bar and the bartender straight up ignored us for a solid 10 mins. He Walked back over and over took orders from those next to us and just skipped us. Would not make eye contact with us. This Has happened to us the last 3 times. We will not be coming back anymore. Worst service and the bar was not even busy! We used to come here regularly love the food but over the last 6 months the service is declined so bad we won't come back. We watched other at the bar also get ignored by the same bartender. They always have 2 bartenders working at a time and neither of them wanted to take orders or drinks. read more

So, today is National Nacho Day and our go to Nacho place is Hickory Tavern. Their BBQ Nachos are the best here! OMG!! You don't need anything else except maybe a beer or mixed drink! I chose a $5 mojito! The nachos are loaded with grilled chicken, several different cheeses, chives, sour cream and drizzled with a generous pouring of BBQ sauce! Served piping hot!!! Our waitress, Katarina, was amazing and today was her first day! Very attentive but not overwhelming. I counted 35 TV's and those were only the ones I could see! Great game day hang out spot!! Great food and great beer selection menu, also! Check it out if you are near this side of Cary! Almost forgot to add that they give you a hot towel service after your Nachos and wings! I mean......whaaaaaaaat? It doesn't get better than that, am I right? Such a great ending to your meal! read more

Went here for a business dinner. The atmosphere was very nice with a little bar chatter and TV's everywhere. The service was very good. We never really waited for drink refills. The food was above average bar food. The wings were very nice. Crispy with a lot of flavor. We tried several different flavors and all were pretty good. I had a mushroom and Swiss burger as my entree. I do not recommend that particular sandwich. The bread was soaked in butter or some butter like substance. My stomach did not agree with all that grease. I did the duck walk into my hotel if you know what I mean. Very close call. I would go back for the wings, fries and dip. I will get my burgers elsewhere. read more

I went here today for a team lunch for work. There were 10 of us, and they treated us very well. The service was great, and the food was good too. I've been trying to stay away from carbs, so it was a little difficult to find something on the menu that would work. I got the smothered chicken with the balsamic glazed brussels sprouts and asparagus. It was all delicious! They didn't overcook any of it, which I did worry about. It wasn't especially busy, but it was hard to hear people at the other side of the table. So, if you have a large group, don't expect to be able to talk to everyone. But the general atmosphere was nice and comfortable. read more

Ordered their Fish and Chips for take out. Mixed experience. The fries were really really good for take out and even better than those I've had dining in at a lot of other restaurants. The fish was another story. There was an ample amount of filets that came in the to-go box, but they were all a little thicker than a washcloth fresh out of the dryer. Plenty of breading and fried just right, but the filets were so thin that you were left with a combination of greasy and dry at the same time. Topping for the fish was Chili-Lime Crema which didn't taste very good on a chip, alone on a fork and especially on the fish. The saving grace that could have pushed the rating up to 3 stars would have been to just serve it with regular tartar sauce and / or some malt vinegar on the side. The only thing that warranted a 2 star rating was the fries alone. I was craving this and ordered it to-go thinking "How hard can it be to do a decent Fish and Chips?" How wrong I was. $15.01 read more

First time we went we had baby back ribs. Second time we went we had baby back rib's and very loud drunks at the bar trying to start fights. Third time was not a charm. The baby back ribs had disappeared from the menu. OK so we ordered something else. We've been more times after this but Saturday was the last straw. I could not find anything I wanted to order. It's not a steak place, it's not a good hamburger place. I don't know what to say, but we're not going back. read more

I was pleasantly surprised as I avoided coming here for several months bc of the mediocre reviews. My husband and I came here on a Sunday afternoon, plenty of room to sit immediately but also the place had plenty of people watching football on the various tv screens. Breathing room....it's what I'm all about these days. The food was great and I was so hungry I forgot photos (gasp) ...we ordered 10 wings and a BYO-salad, which I really loved. They did not skimp, even when I asked for 2 helpings of avocado. (gasp again)... The wings were very good too...not greasy, fried just enough to be crispy and the red dragon sauce was The perfect sweet and spicy sauce. I'll definitely return ...shame on me. Ohhhh...and the crispy Brussels sprouts and bacon bits - nuuuums! read more

Food is a little better than mediocre....however the service....... They dont care about anything except when theyre leaving. And the tabel full of servers who must be off the clock taking shots...but still in uniform... screaming profanities. Made me feel like i wasnt welcome. The worst part is watching the manager doing inventory and intentionally ignoring guests trying to aquire a beverage at the bar. Needs new management and new staff read more

We've been here several times since they've opened and each experience gets worse. Tonight we had a party of 7 so I called to make a reservation. They told me it had to be 8 for a reservation but to come in a half hour because it wasn't busy. We get there and there are several parties waiting to be seated. The hostess told us it would be 20 minutes , well 40 minutes later they finally seat us. They told us they didn't have the regular capacity to seat parties over six without reconfiguring the tables. If that is the case then they should take reservations for over parties of 6. Once seated we were told they were out of salmon and baked potatoes...seriously!!! It was well over another 40 minutes before we got our food. I was so irritated I couldn't enjoy it. My mother ordered the shrimp which was peel and eat - she had to sit there deveining her entree. I was excited to have an American restaurant close to home but it's unlikely we will be back. read more

I had high hopes for this place but was soooo disappointed. Me and my friend went to grab a drink and after seating ourselves at the bar and waiting forever until the bartender finally came up. Honestly we almost just grabbed the menu ourselves because it was supposed to be a quick trip before our movie. When she came she took our order and gave us our drinks but quickly dropped them off and moved on. It honestly wasn't that busy and for some reason took forever to flag her down. We ordered spinach dip and food to go because we had a little time but it took almost what felt like 30 min just to have our dip finally come out. We ate and had already missed the credits so we're trynna get out of there fast ...eventually she came with the bill but no food in sight and we only ordered two things. By the time our food came she had us wait a little longer because apparently we were waiting on fries....we checked the bag and it was already there. I'm just disappointed we wasted so much and missed a lot of our movie for over salted cold food and mediocre drinks :(. read more

VERY loud and, if you are not partaking of alcoholic beverages, service will be slow. The food is "okay" but not a big enough draw for me to return read more

I used to frequent this restaurant, but not anymore. They've changed the menu and certainly not for the better. The biggest turn-off is the service. I waited repeatedly for someone to take my order at the bar and the staff just walked past me numerous times. Additionally they close early before the end of many sporting events, so I don't see how they can consider themselves a "sports bar". It appears that a change in management has led to this restaurant's downfall. read more

Not so great. Looks like the food was made out of frozen food. The veggie burger was much inferior to what I have experienced at whichwich or tribeca tavern. Fries - they don't provide much. We've been here a few times now and each time our server is clueless about drinks. I guess it may be because it is their first serving job or because they are underage they don't really know, but managers...please educate your servers. You have a full bar, they should at least know a few of the liquors you carry. First time our server didn't know what crown and coke was. She served us coke separately...seriously? We had to spell out c-r-o-w-n to her. Next time I came and asked what house vodka was or what vodka they had and server was clueless. After that I've been sticking to beer here. The food is alright. Some things are better than others. Would not come here for wings. But if you want a beer and to hang out and watch a game it might not be bad. read more

Great place to stop by after work or to watch a game. I've never had a bad experience with the food. I usually get some of their wings, or a buffalo sandwich. The draft beer selection is good and the number of TVs keep me coming back. They also have cornhole outside when the weather is nice. I've been here for multiple group functions and they certainly have the room to host larger parties. read more
