She showed us some of his unique designs and use of precious stones from all over the world. We were then introduced to Araksi, goldsmith who was working on a piece prior to its mailing to a client and closing of the Alaska stores for the season. While Arlee was talking with Mr. Lambros, I wandered around the various display cases and was immediately blown away by a handmade ring that had tendrils wrapped around two beautiful Opals that were "full of fire." I casually asked Rebecca the price. While it was a little beyond our means, I suggested an offer which she took to Araksi. Much to my surprise, he agreed as it was the end of the season and he wished to move his remaining in-house stock. Since it was my wife's birthday within the past two weeks, I made the purchase. Arlee was ecstatic as she loves opals. They are so delicate and yet full of fire like she is. He is Greek by birth and brings that old world charm and design influences into his jewelry pieces. Out of the 15+ shops we went into, this was the best by a landslide. Kristina was extremely patient and sweet. She worked with my fiancé to make a custom ring design incorporating all of his favorite things across several different types of rings and in total it came to $2,300. We felt no pressure which was unlike any other store. While we ended up staying hours there, they treated us to snacks, drinks, and later a comped dinner. A Very Disappointing Experience with Monarch Jewels -- Buyers, Beware…read more My experience with Monarch Jewels was extremely disappointing. On May 21, 2026, I purchased a custom pendant while on an Alaskan cruise. When I received it, it was NOT what I had ordered. The pendant was substantially smaller and thinner than specified, the stone was dramatically off-center--approximately two-thirds away from the intended center--and the piece had multiple visible scratches. These were not minor imperfections but serious flaws in the design and craftsmanship of a $1,650 custom piece. Monarch Jewels acknowledged the problems and apologized for allowing a piece with such poor craftsmanship to reach a customer. On June 17, 2026, they confirmed receipt of the returned pendant and agreed to remake it according to the correct specifications with a professional finish. Unfortunately, that promise was never fulfilled. After waiting another two months, I received no meaningful updates or communication, and the promised replacement never materialized. With no product in my possession and no resolution in sight, I finally sent a formal demand letter advising the company that I was prepared to pursue legal action if necessary. Only after I sent the formal demand letter did Monarch Jewels refund my credit card. There was no accompanying message, apology, or even a basic acknowledgment that the refund had been processed. After months of waiting and repeated attempts to resolve the matter, this was an extremely unprofessional way to handle a customer complaint. I paid $1,650 and spent more than five months without the product I had paid for. Although I eventually received a refund, it should never have taken this much time, effort, and escalation to resolve a problem the company had already acknowledged. A reputable business should stand behind its products, take responsibility for its mistakes, and communicate professionally when problems arise. In my experience, Monarch Jewels fell far short of these basic expectations. All talk and no action. After promising to make things right, they ultimately stopped communicating and left me to pursue the resolution myself. I saw that on Google, Monarch Jewels has many positive reviews, which I have a hard time believing. Yelp reviews seems more accurate. Nonetheless, one customer's experience may not tell the whole story, but the way a business handles a problem says a great deal about its customer service. I would not recommend Monarch Jewels based on my experience. Please see the attached photo of the pendant I received. This is the actual custom piece made for my $1,650 purchase. The visible scratches and severely misaligned stone setting speak for themselves. I find it difficult to understand how this piece was considered acceptable to deliver to a customer who paid for custom jewelry. The craftsmanship did not meet the standards I expected, and the subsequent handling of my complaint only made the experience worse. I am sharing this review so other consumers can make a more informed decision. Please do your due diligence before trusting this company with your money.
