The staff are very friendly, caring and professional. You can tell that they really care for their residents. Dinara, who was giving us the tour knew all the residents by name and was very interacting with them. My parents made the difficult transition from living alone to Brandywine. Although my dad needs much more "help" than mom, they are both finding things they can do together. The weekly trips are a wonderful enrichment for them, as well as interaction with the other residents. Happy hour is also a favorite for them and they look forward to that every week. It's great to know that they are in a safe and nurturing environment.

I met with Dinara who showed me around. I knew fromthe start that my Mom would be very well cared for. Dinara is very knowledgeable and very caring. Brandywine is very lucky to have her And I truly recommend Brandywine to anyone looking for a clean, safe and caring home for their of their names

during the last weeks of my husband's life, they called to tell me I would not have an aide that…read moreday and I would just have to deal with it. Someone called out and they had no replacement. That is not acceptable. I was a wife, not a trained caregiver, and my husband suffered as a result. In addition, while a few were very caring and kind, some of the caregivers were decidedly quirky and a couple of them brought their Bibles. I'm a Christian, but I respect all spiritual paths and felt that was inappropriate. One shooed my cat away (Shoo! Shoo!)when my the cat was a major comfort to my husband. Another dislodged a kidney tube that resulted in an ambulance trip to the hospital. I would never use them again,

I was trying to get an aide for my mother for years. Finally she agreed on 8/4/2017. I called Zena…read moreand the next day an aide came for an interview. The aide began that Monday. Zena worked with me with the Long Term Care Insurance company so that billing was direct to them. My mother was a very difficult, demanding, stubborn person who could be very nasty on any given day. She smoked two packs of cigarettes daily. The aides Zena provided were compassionate and as helpful as could be. I live 1200 miles away, but trusted the care that was provided. Zena was immediately responsive to any issues, or concerns that arose. Mom began with a 3 half day a week aide. It increased to 4 half days, then finally 7 days a week before she passed in December 2018. She made things difficult for everyone, often cursing at the aides, or sending them to the store so she could be alone. Zena provided daily flexibility when Dr. appointments required an aide on a non scheduled day, or required more hours. Zena provided invaluable advice and was a good listener because I had never encountered this situation before. I highly recommend Zena and her agency. The gift of long life is often accompanied by failure of many parts of the body, most notably, the brain. At times a son can feel extremely lonely in an effort to provide his mother with quality care toward the end of her life. The aides at Helpers certainly made my situation more manageable and Zena is an angel. Steve Throne

I hired a live in caregiver from Towne for my father upon his discharge from the hospital. The home…read moreattendant, Edmund, was unhelpful, messy and not trustworthy. My father's longtime, part-time housekeeper needed to clean up after the home attendant, who left dishes unwashed, trash in the car, etc. The attendant would direct the housekeeper to clean up after him and do things that were part of his job. Most troubling, my father was seriously deconditioned from his hospital stay. We asked Edmund to keep a close eye on my dad, and Edmund had a whole spiel about how we cared too much for my dad but needed to give my dad space so he could learn to be independent. This allowed Edmund to spend most of the time in his room on his laptop, door closed, while my dad's housekeeper would fetch water and food for my father, help him to the toilet, empty his foley bag and check on his vitals. It was she who alerted us that something was wrong -- it turned out that my father had a serious infection and needed to return to the hospital, where he stayed for another month before discharge. I believe the home attendant would have left my father suffering and deteriorate for days. The people who run Towne make a great sales pitch but ultimately, I don't think they do a great job of vetting, and it's ultimately still up to you to interview and find the right caregiver.
