food waste policy
John P.

I've been here many times. Nothing special. Last time I went there I threw up. And now they got a new food waste policy. I had gotten the check, and when I went to pay it, the price was different. I asked for the original receipt, but they wouldn't give it back. Not coming back here again!

Meh. Your usual chinese buffet where you can fill up on your standard chinese food at a very cheap cost. Overall, the place feels kinda icky- but that's pretty much the norm for all buffets now. Some foods were hot and others were cold- again, like most buffets. The salt and pepper shrimp was pretty good as well as the soft shell crabs, while others like the dumplings and fried foods were cold and bland. The sushi are like sushi bites- very small and not worth your fork. The meal was going pretty decent until I got to the end- I found a piece of saran wrap in my fruit!!! Now I know I shouldn't really even being getting fruit at a buffet, but finding the saran wrap made rethink about all the food I ate. All in all- this place is worth the occasional visit to get your cheap chinese food every once in a while- but it's definitely nothing special.

"Big new buffet/ sushi/ hibachi in Durham" This place has been "coming" for so long that, no joke, the first set of Coupon Clipper coupons for it expired before the restaurant opened. This used to be a really awful Chinese buffet many years ago (Panda Inn), but this revision is pretty good. I compare it to Durham's "China Buffet" mile-long-buffet, given the obvious resemblance and close proximity. Along with buffet food (discussed below), they have a sushi section and a hibachi section. In the latter, you prepare a plate of food with meat (your choice of steak, chicken, shrimp, & imitation crab meat) and vegetables, and they saute it for you with sauces: a bigger selection than China Buffet's. The sushi was very basic- moreso than China Buffet- and didn't look quite as fresh. You're better off hitting the Target or grocery store counter if you're looking for sushi. On the Chinese food front, the usual stuff: sweet & sour chicken, spring rolls, chicken broccoli, hibachi chicken, sesame chicken, fried rice, dumplings, edamame, black pepper shrimp, and much more. The usual soups, too, like hot & sour, wonton, etc. Pretty comparable to China Buffet, though visibly lacking cooked vegetable dishes (e.g., I didn't see anything with tofu). They had a salad bar, but again minimal on vegetables and some items didn't look especially fresh. The fruits were pretty good, though (pineapple, melons, grapes, etc.). However, on the plus, they had a surprisingly large non-Chinese food selection: fried plantains, buffalo wings, fried squid, stuffed potatoes, coconut chicken (VERY good), boiled crawfish (!), mussels, spare ribs, fried jalapenos, macaroni & cheese, pizza, mashed potatoes & gravy, and much more. They also had an better dessert selection than China Buffet: multiple cakes, jello flavors, and EIGHT flavors of ice cream (moose tracks, cookies & cream, etc.) Service was very attentive- quick refills on drinks, removal of used plates, etc. Price was reasonable: $8.99 for adults, and less for kids 10 and under- overall, less expensive than China Buffet. Overall, pros and cons relative to China Buffet, which I also like a lot. My wife suggested it would be an ideal place to go if some people wanted Chinese food but others wanted something else more like Golden Corral. I agree, but only if you really don't want many vegetables. PS- Loved how the fortune cookie fortunes were in English and Spanish both...

This place is good and has healthy options. The sushi was good and the Hibachi Grill looked good.

The bread was dry and the crawfish to have no taste. Hibachi didn't have that much season on it. I recommend to not go here no more.

It was great Everything they explained to me I forgot just as quickly, but I had my softest meats here Our server was very sweet and quick to make sure that we didn't ever have to wait for anything she explained each sushi individually and where the fish came from They ship everything from all over the world And the dessert was to die for This is dining like a princess This is the perfect place to take a woman on a date low effort on your part outside of needing to have a reservation*** The omakase is already chosen for you by the chef all you have to do is sit there and enjoy and experience the plates together! Extra brownie points if you can score going to M sushi then taking her to killjoy on Tuesday for their live music so you guys can dance or sit and enjoy more craft cocktails, and each each other's company!

The rolls looked pretty nice when they came out -- colorful with different toppings, sauces drizzled on top, and some green onions. The fish tasted fresh enough and the rice was okay, not too hard or mushy. But honestly, the flavors were just average. Some rolls were a bit too sweet from the sauce, others a little salty from the roe. It was creative, but nothing that really blew me away. The place has a nice warm wooden table vibe and the lighting is good for photos. Service was quick, no long wait. Price-wise, it felt a little expensive for Durham -- four rolls and we weren't super impressed with the value. It was fine for a casual meal, but I wouldn't go out of my way to come back just for the sushi. Might try something else next time or their omakase to see if it's better.

I think it is a shared lot because the restaurant was pretty empty during my visit today. i have visited twice now (jan 2026 & may 2026) and i order a decent amount of food for the table to share. Both times, every plate has been room temperature. Thats super disappointing especially since the Korean dishes we ordered are typically served very hot (and in clay pots). It would be fine if my food was even remotely warm, but that hasnt been the case for either of my visits. Our food took a very long time to come out, which would have also been fine had the food came out hot, so i am wondering why it took so long to send out cold food? Also, for some reason there was a strong odor of some sort permeating through the beer hall. I couldnt place what it was but it was not pleasant for me. I feel like i am rarely sensitive to smells but i had to spritz a perfume to mask it. It might've just been a cleaning product or something, not sure. Something to note is that you have to pay for the banchan here. This is typically served with your meals for no additional cost as they are considered 'essential' to your meal. So a charge for them was surprising for me.

It was mostly rice mixed with sad iceberg lettuce ( mixed greens ) and the toppings were skimpy. For $18 this was disappointing. It was supposed to have three proteins. I added radish, crunchy onion and edamame. It was sad. In addition to the toppings I ordered there was a bunch of ginger and a marble-sized glob of wasabi hiding in the mix. Glad I avoided being surprised by that. I took the photo after I'd eaten so you can see how much rice was still in the bowl. The waiter was super sweet. He'd do better at another job. I'll stick to Zen Fish. There everything is fresh and vibrant and the choices are more exciting. Plus, their mixed greens are actually 'mixed greens'.

First of all, the AC was not working on the night we visited so things did not get off to a great start. It was warm in the dining area. The lighting was dark (maybe to not add to the heat). The scallops in the marine couple were pretty tasteless. The owner came by and chatted with us a little bit, which is always nice. We've had tastier food at other local Asian restaurants so we'll probably pass on coming back soon. We wish them well.
