Saturday was our first time ever. Pulled in at 11am, pretty empty as they were just opening. Walked in and was surprised by the entry and waterfall. Seated after a few moments. The lunch menu prices were reasonable. Ordered 2 kids meals and 2 adult sandwiches along with 2 sodas for the kids, the adults had water. Came to about $45. I had the chicken teriyaki sandwich with sweet potato fries. The chicken was over cooked. It tasted pretty good-cooked then nuked to reheat for the sandwich. The sweet potato fries looked amazing, but undercooked and soggy. My son's grilled cheese was soggy and the cheese looked pretty gross. See picture of what I mean. The interior, after moving on past the entry was pretty worn and it had been awhile since under the tables had been scraped, ours was loaded with gum. I could get over the decor. We had high hopes for Hi-Way Harry's. Let me preface my review by saying we are the people who usually let things go, especially when dining somewhere for the first time. Beautiful entryway with waterfall, dark, old-time supper club look in the dining room. Loved the rounded-backed booths, (though ours had clear adhesive tape covering tears in the material. Red flag #1.) I ordered the twin 8oz. Boneless Pork Chops "smothered in gravy" with mashed potatoes, and my husband selected the 14oz. Ribeye steak with "loaded" baked potato. When our meals were placed in front of us, our server explained to me that they had run out of the gravy for my pork chops, and she "hoped that would be okay." My husband's "14oz. Ribeye was MAYBE 1/2" thick, approximately 25% fat, and more like 8oz. His baked potato was loaded - with bacon & cheese - no butter or sour cream. Our fault. Should have been more specific. We asked to speak with the kitchen but our server had the manager - doubling as bartender - (Red flag #2) come over to speak with us. She was very gracious and quite wide-eyed when she saw my husband's thin, grizzled steak, and offered to discount our meals. (I got the feeling this may have been a frequent occurrence.) We did have some of what was served, as we were quite hungry when we arrived at the restaurant, but the food was mediocre at best (potato dishes dry, flavorless), and the kitchen should be held accountable. I simply cannot in good conscience recommend this restaurant. Very disappointed. read more

This place is a pile of crap! The inside was deceiving because it's beautifully decorated. The waitress was completely spaced out and forgot a quarter of our menu items. I ordered a purple rain martini and it came out grayish blue! I will never go here again. The food was so bad, my wife and I laughed about it all the way back to Madison. Easy order - potato skins and the fish sandwich "special". Ordered the soup as a side. Soup arrived as a congealed lump in the bowl, looking like it had been scooped out of a left over rice casserole. Wasn't particularly warm, but nothing that came later was either. Managed to make it through the so-called soup (I was really hungry), when the rest of the food arrived. Potato skins were lukewarm with sketchy salsa on the side. Cheese wasn't really melted, so not sure how that got messed up. The fish sandwich though, was a real gem. The waitress (pleasant and prompt), placed the plate in front of me, apologizing that the sandwich had fallen over. It did that because (as she said) the kitchen ran out of buns, so they used French bread instead, so "it'll be okay". It was not okay. There was a big slice of processed cheese gluing a few things together (scraped that off as best I could), and there was no tartar sauce or anything else on the facsimile of a sandwich. I flagged the waitress down to please bring something, and she did, though it took a while for the tartar sauce to arrive, and she apologized for taking too long because "she had to dig it out" (your guess is as good as mine). I was able to choke down the small portion of fish with the help of the tartar sauce, and left the bread, cheese, and sad lettuce to exit with the plate. On Sunday we went to Hi Way Harry's at 11 am, the place wasn't too busy. By 12:45 pm we only received one appetizer (note we only ordered one other dish) so asked for it to go and received a bill for $70 (lobster ravioli and risotto croquettes, and 2 coffees). Waitress didn't check on us, apologize nor comp the meal at all. I went to the restroom and there was no toilet paper either ‍ I used up all my patience for the day and was embarrassed for them. This always a fun place to stop on our way back from Madison. My mom loves this restaurant. We stopped here recently on a Saturday around 5pm. There are so many options to choose from. I narrowed it down to the pesto chicken with strawberries and my mom got the ribs. Both our meals came with soup or salad, choice of potato and veggies. You also get warm bread before your meal and it is so good. The pesto strawberry chicken was amazing. I hope to recreate it at home. My mom enjoyed her ribs. We splurged on dessert. They bring out a tray of options which is always fun to look over. We went with the carrot cake. It's not pictured because we quickly gobbled it up. Our server was attentive and friendly. This restaurant is also really cool with a raised bar area, a water feature, and very nice bathrooms. read more

We met my sister & husband here for brunch on a Sunday and really enjoyed the meal. I had the Crab Benedict and the portion was more generous and I really liked the flavor. All the ingredients were fresh and I like the fact that they added fresh spinach. We got there before my Sister arrived and our server greeted us right away and we were able to able to enjoy a Bloody Mary while waiting. And a $3.00 bloody at that!. Used to be a great place to meet up with friends from Madison. Last Tuesday's experience was horrible. Dried cold buns for overcooked hamburgers that were $17. Some dirty dishes and silverware were given to us for appetizers. One server - who was host, bartender and server in the entire restaurant. Lots of flys bothering us at our table near window. Cold, overcooked cheese stick appetizers. The server was kind, forgiving for the food and flys. Clean bathrooms and use to be an awesome place. Don't bother. Went for Easter brunch. It was packed, as expected. Luckily we had a reservation. Always love the interior as it's quite unique. A new twist on classic supper club. Tried to go into the room where buffet items were 3 times. Once was told by staff to move because the line was out the door & I was one of those people lining up outside the door. Second time they ran out of plates. Third time huge line again & when I finally got to the hot pans 3 of the 5 were empty. Of the 2 items I tried, the turkey was very good & the prime rib was dry & tough. We were told wait staff would come around & serve several breakfast items to your table. We were there an hour & it never arrived. We asked our wait staff when it would arrive & got an obtuse response so we asked for our check. We went there on a Thursday evening. We had heard it was good and wanted to try someplace we hadn't been before. It's deceptively nice inside!! There is a waterfall in the main lobby and the interior makes you feel like you stepped into a different place altogether, not a restaurant just off interstate 94. We had Jeremiah as a server. He was attentive, knowledgeable, and checked on us numerous times throughout the meal to make sure we had everything we needed to make our meal perfect. We started with the mushroom chips with marinara. Highly recommend. There was a very generous helping served and just the right amount od breading on the portabella mushroom slices. I felt maybe a ranch or smoky cajun ranch might go better with the mushroom texture and flavor. I ordered the cowboy burger. It was juicy and cooked just to my liking. The barbecue sauce was a bit to heavy and sweet and overshadowed the burger. The fries were typical beer battered fries and were seasoned nicely and served nice and crisp and hot. My companion ordered the 5 cheese gourmet mac and cheese. It was tasty and obviously made from scratch. However the bechamel was slight lumpy and the texture coarse for a sauce. Still, the flavor of the sauce was outstanding and the texture of the macaroni was perfect. It was served with soup or salad, and my companion ordered chicken noodle soup. He liked it so much he drank the last bit of it. We shared the chocolate peanut butter torte for dessert. It was tasty and the peanut butter mousse was on point along with the chocolate chips in the dessert. The cake portion in the middle was slightly dry and I would have liked to see some freshly whipped cream on top with a chocolate leaf garnish perhaps. Definitely add whipped cream. read more

It took over an hour to get our food, and then when the food showed up it took a further five minutes to get the final plate, which was not to have tomatoes in it because of allergies . No apology. Offered salad bar which we took. Then let us know on the bill she had taken off the food we sent back. Salad bar was on the bill. We have eaten with friends here a couple of times in the past year, but yesterday was the worst experience. When we arrived for lunch the parking lot was empty. The menu items were on the expensive side with each entree going for at least $18. I splurged and ordered the sirloin steak. What I got for $28 was a burned up piece of meat that looked like they char-broiled somebody's shoe leather. It did not look as though it was 8 ounces as advertised on the menu. New Year's Eve dinner disaster! Cafe style table set with no silverware, napkins or water glasses. Cigarette lighter falls out of a wrapper silverware napkin. Two(2) hours after being seated, searching for management. Instead, I found several servers/bussers vaping off the lobby area. Entrees arrive cold and undercooked. Waitress had no idea who got what, it was a "switch of the dinners" game. Found a piece of hair in one of the dinners(see picture). Again, looking for management, found him at the bar enjoying his dinner. Showed him a picture of the hair in the food. He said, "I'll make a note of that." Very busy night for this establishment. Poor service, food arrives before drinks, orders taken and dinners arrive at different intervals. One plate was not at table until everyone was almost done eating, after we reminded waitress. As waitress set the plate down and zoomed away she was called back to be reminded to bring a beer that was ordered at beginning of service. First time visitor. Interior felt like a Vegas lounge, which I was into. Menu had a lot of tasty sounding things. Better half got a kiwi martini, very good. However, the killer...food came out Luke warm. I'm fairly certain they let our food sit until a nearby table's was done too so they could come out of once. i'm not sure what the discrepancy is on these reviews. Our experience was good we have to consider most servers are staying home to collect government pay. This gave us a more peaceful and less demanding approach. The server was kind, we received what we asked for all food took a bit of time, our hot and warm dishes came out hot and warm. We're in Wisconsin so we mostly ordered food that is based in Wisconsin this way it might be fresher than food that is based outside of Wisconsin. We started with the wonton/eggroll outside mozzarella sticks they arrived with marinara on the side and parmesan flakes sprinkled on top the combination was good. I'm used to a bit more salt when there is wonton. I then had a garden salad with the house ranch it was delicious. He ordered the clam chowder, fully acknowledging clam chowder would not have been fresh in Wisconsin. The chowder must've been made somewhere else it was very tasty a little salty. Main course was a 16 oz prime rib, if we were in Florida we might've ordered the crabcake sliders for fresh ness or the fish but we did not. We added the mushrooms and onions to the top of the prime rib with sweet potato fries on the side, it also came with cooked vegetables, a tartar sauce and another dark likely steak sauce. The prime rib was delicious. For dessert we decided to go with the cheesecake with raspberry drizzle. I'm kind of a berry girl. It was pretty good, he ate most of the cookie bottom ;-) I would recommend Hi-Way Harry's for a nice relaxing evening. it looks like they had an outdoor patio with lights and umbrellas. Service was super slow. As in it took 1.5 hours for all meals to come out and only 2 of our 3 meals came together. When we arrived there were crumbs on the tables and chairs from the previous night-we came in exactly at 1 pm their opening. Super happy I was able to direct other potential diners to other locations as this is not where you want to go. We previously had a great experience there but will never go back. Go to the Pine Cone. The French onion soup was supposed to be baked and it wasn't-just onion soup with cheese thrown on top-cold at best. We ordered Mozzarella sticks and they are probably the best of anything we received. No kids menu was offered and as I have a special needs kiddo it would have been needed. She ordered the Ravioli, but it was not up to her standards. Our server was super horrible-she dropped our credit card on the floor and then I picked it up.
