Once again, dart throwing by a dermatologist. Called hi tech, very thorough on the phone , before setting up appointment. Don Dailey called 30 minutes before appointment. I will start off by addressing the company's assumption by guaranteeing I am not in a bad mood, nor having a bad day. I am actually floored. It's honestly saddening to personally witness an ongoing hierarchy of poor customer service from a local company. As the company likes to remind everyone, they are a service-based company. That being said, you would think that their insight to customer SERVICE would be better than it is. Instead their lack of ability to take constructive criticism is astounding. For potential customers, I encourage you to read the google poor rated reviews. The poor reviews are not just measly, tiny company errors, but an accumulation of customers' opinions that have experienced completely awful customer service and unacceptable behavior. Keep in mind that a lot of unsatisfied customers do not want to waste any more time on a company that they are not giving their business. So, the fact that they took the time to write out their experience must say something. After you read the review, proceed to read how the company responded. Your jaw will hit the floor. I am not sure who they have responding to the google reviews (I certainly hope it's not the owner), but I am completely floored at their responses when they hear something they do not like. It's these responses that could really make or break the customer experience, but in almost 100% of these situations, they add fuel to the fire - which is just appalling. This is a company that immediately blame shifts and contradicts the customer which is the exact opposite of what they should be doing. Addressing empathy and understanding is Customer Service 101. If I were the owner of this company, I would not condone or excuse this type of behavior. In fact, I would be devasted to hear of any employees conducting service in a negative way and would highly reevaluate employment. The right employees make the difference and you need to ask yourself if these employees help or hinder the company image. Nowadays, its not enough to just say your company can do the job. You must set yourself apart by delivering excellent customer service. Instead of evading the situation and pointing fingers, educate yourself on how to properly address indifferent opinions. I say this because I do want a local company like Hi-Tech to do better. Sure, the company may be doing fine. But every bad experience directly leads customers, much like me, into the arms of a competitor. If you do the math, can your company continue to survive losing these customers? Maybe. But could it flourish more with improved customer service? Absolutely. I encourage you to demand more out of your employees and more from yourself. Because it starts from the top. It goes without saying that you are not going to satisfy every customer. That's just the way it goes. Your company may be great at some things, but unfortunately that is not my experience. We were experiencing a yellow jacket infestation in the garden window of our kitchen so we called Hi-Tech Pest Control. They were able to fit us in their schedule quickly. The man who showed up at our house immediately gave us the impression that he meant business and knew what he was doing. He asked us questions to make sure he understood the issue and then sprayed the area. The cost was very reasonable and it came with a guarantee. When the issue wasn't solved a week or two later, they quickly came back out to address it again. After their second visit the bees were gone. I've had Don spray my house and exterior property for carpenter ants every year for several years. They're an annual occurrence where I live, and he has always been thorough and willing to come back for second applications. When I've had hornets' nests (more than once) he has removed them successfully and gotten rid of any remaining hornets for a reasonable price. Overall, I've been quite happy. He is a one-man outfit, though, so occasionally he might get hung up on a given job, which might delay him at subsequent jobs that day. It happens rarely, and I've never felt that was an unreasonable inconvenience. read more

We called today to have them come out and give us an estimate on bug removal. The guy showed up 2 hours late, walked around my house and hardly looked at anything. Told me it would be around $1100. When we tried to ask him what process he was going to use to eradicate the bugs he talked in circles saying they used industrial machines. He bashed Orkin saying they didnt know what they were doing, that his company was the number 1 company in some paper back in 2006 (10 years ago). When asked again what his plan of action was he didnt answer our question he again talked in circles saying again they used some machine and how you wouldn't get the same service from Orkin. Which may be true, but what exactly did you want me to pay for? Beware I think they are scammers. read more

I payed over $3,000.00 to one of the nationally advertised pest control companies, and after two months I still had bedbugs. And they wanted more money to continue the process which hadn't worked in the first place! Then a friend told me about Hi Tech Pest Control. What a difference! The technician who came out quickly assessed my problem and described a course of action to resolve my bedbug issues. He was quite informative in describing the method of treating my home, and he guaranteed my complete satisfaction. He did say that it could take 4-6 weeks to kill all of the bedbugs and those who might hatch. Feeling like I had nothing to lose, I gave Hi Tech my business. After 4 or 5 days, I began to notice fewer fewer bites and other signs of the bedbugs. After 3 weeks, all of the bedbugs appeared to have been killed. It's now been 2 months and I'm still bedbug free. Hi Tech Pest Control performed "as advertised"! Don was awesome. He spent a bunch of time with me over the phone when I called, answering all my questions. When I asked if I could schedule to have someone come take a look at my ant problems, he offered me a two-hour window period in the afternoon for the following day. He said the morning was already very full, and he didn't want to leave me waiting. I appreciated that he was treating my call with the urgency it deserved. The following day, we didn't meet until about 45-minutes after the scheduled window. I really think that was understandable and completely acceptable bc it was a very narrow window to begin with (only two hours!) and most companies give you windows like "how about from 8am to 4pm next week?" His estimated time of availability was pretty accurate, which I am impressed by. Don offered me helpful advice, thorough information, relevant anecdotes, a list of trusted resources, and the perfect amount of friendly conversation. I know now that I have found a pest control company that I will be able to rely on for as long as I'm here. Don is a gem - do yourself a favor and call him! It sounds like the people who wrote the one-star reviews were treating Don disrespectfully without even noticing that they were doing so. If you know how to treat someone with respect, and not erase their humanity just b/c you're looking for a bid, you will probably have a stellar experience with this outstandingly well-informed professional! I am giving this company and their representative, Don Dailey, one star, because that's the lowest rating I can apply on Yelp. If it were entirely up to me, I wouldn't even give them that. We asked him out to the home we just moved into in Bloomfield Hills to give us an estimate for eradicating carpenter ants. His pitch consisted of talking in circles while bashing Orkin, Rose, and other competitors while exclaiming "We're the best. What we do, those other guys can't do." When my wife and I asked him to explain what exactly he was going to do, He said, "Too much time. Not going into it. Too much time. I have industrial machines on my truck." It was like listening to Donald Trump rant against the media. He didn't answer a single question, nor would he explain how he intended to apply treatment. Do not hire this company! I set up an appointment with this company to come out and look at a bug that I found in my sister's home. They went out to the home and in the middle of his sales pitch (no pitch needed - I just wanted to hire him) he stated that they're the only company in Michigan to offer a 6 month warranty. I replied that I've actually seen that advertised on other company's websites too. He then told me to go elsewhere and hung up on me! I was in shock. When I called him back he told me that he was too busy and to call someone else! Never in my life have I ever dealt with a company like this. When I called a competitor he told me he knows exactly who I spoke with, because apparently this company is well known for acting like this. I wish that I had read a review before I called them, which is why I'm sharing my experience now. People like this cannot be trusted to go into personal residences. This place is not the best place to use for pest control. We used him for those pesty bedbugs. He guaranteed that they would be gone in one day and its been a week and my household is still being eaten up. To make matters worse, I called him and he basically made my situation sound as if it was nothing and to top it off his location is not even at the address that he has listed. Hi-Tech is the very best pest control service I have ever used. Don just came to my house for the sixth year in a row to address my annual carpenter ant infestation. I live in an area that has many mature trees which come with unwanted pests. I first used Hi-Tech to take care of the spiders around my house. Once Don came, I saw NOTHING; no mosquitos, no spiders, no moths - NOTHING for two years! Then I started to have a serious carpenter ant problem. I had no idea those pesky ants grow to 1 1/2 inches in size with wings! Don came and assured me the ants would be gone within two weeks. He was right! I did not see another ant for the entire year. Whatever Don uses stops them at the door. So every year when I start to see dead ants at the door (whatever Don put down lasts for years!) I give Hi-Tech a call for my annual treatment. Then I see NOTHING. Don is amazing; his prices are extremely reasonable; and I only need one treatment per year. I will never use any other company! read more

We hired Hi-Tech to handle a rat issue at our home, after reading the positive reviews online. Unfortunately, we had a terrible experience! The tech that we dealt with, Don Dailey, was very patronizing and arrogant - first with my 72 year old mother and then multiple times with me. We decided to still hire him because he seemed to know what he was doing, however when I just called him to ask him to come back to the house (its now been 8 weeks since he first set the first station - and we still have rats), he got very defensive and argumentative. I reinforced that I didn't want to argue, I just needed his help eradicating the rats and finishing the job we paid him to do. He continued to preach to me about how long it takes, and how Hi-Tech's methods were better than other companies... I ask if he was the owner, and he told me it didn't matter and that I was welcome to hire someone else. My husband heard him yelling at me and told me to hang up and we will hire another company that is more professional and effective. Unfortunately, we're out $175 and still have an issue that Don did not help solve. I definitely do not recommend using this company. read more

1 man operation. He kept talking about how wonderful he was when all I wanted was straight answers. When I told him I don't care about how he compares to Orkin I just want a direct answer his answer was "I care" and went back to chest puffing. He told me on the phone the bed bugs would be gone in one application and he told my kids that too and then when they weren't he said he never said that and made us wait another week for his two week check up before he came out and sprayed again. So we spent another week getting bitten up. He never left paperwork the second time and when I called to get it he wasn't in and never called back or sent any. My daughter had a hard time going back to work because her boss wanted something saying they were gone or at least that he had come out a second time but he would not return my calls or even his. What good is a six month warranty from a guy who won't ever call back once he has your money. On to the next sucker. This is very short sighted. We deal with slab ants every winter but I will never call him to deal with them or recommend him. read more
