Leaving this review for informational purposes. The two stars is because that's what their average score currently rounds to. If you want to go to this business, be aware that they have some aggressive signs in the window saying that face masks are required to enter. Maybe I was overthinking it, but I went planning to try them since New Members Cleaners in Courthouse closed and then didn't feel comfortable entering without a mask, but I didn't have one with me (it's 2026), and they didn't seem to be offering to provide them. If it were still 2020, that wouldn't have been a problem because I would have had a mask with me. And it would have been fine, if a little odd, if they provided them at the door. But, they don't, so if you don't regularly keep a mask with you, be prepared to stop somewhere else first to buy one or to feel very unwelcome. read more

I decided to come here since it was convenient and easy to park. It was about $18 for a two piece suit and it was dropped off Thursday before they closed and it was ready the next afternoon. It was quick and easy so I would go back for my dry cleaning needs. read more

Charged me full price....didnt get any stains out of my shirt. I brought this up to lady at register and she just shrugged her shoulders. Definitely will not be returning. read more

I've been using this dry cleaner for almost 10 years and never had an issue. They do a good job removing stains and the service is always good! read more

Extremely attentive staff, willing to go the extra mile for you. I drove from Bealeton, Va just to get some hats cleaned, they did a wonderful job would recommend 100%. read more

Do not get alterations here! Not even basic ones. Quality is not good. They will claim to be able to patch a clothing item up, but the work is shoddy. Pricing is ludicrous too. No joke: they quoted me $40.00 to sew a belt loop back on a pair of jeans, went to another place, and they quoted only $4.00. read more

I've been using Hi-Hat for the past 5 years and even though I now live much further away than I used to, I continue to go back. They are quick, curtious, and do quality work! The times there has been a problem with any article of clothing (which is rare), they fix it immediately, with an apology and you'll have it the next day. Also, on two different occassions, I've had to ask them to stay open a little later than 7p because I was stuck in traffic and they've always been happy to accomodate. Just remember, if it's under $10, they definitely prefer that you use cash and not a card. Great spot! read more

Hi-Hat Cleaners - Laundry Services Near Me - Arlington, Virginia

Brought three pairs of pants and two were just for pressing. I'm usually good at pressing but due to carpal tunnel, I can't do it as well as before. The woman said it's $ 4 a piece for pressing and 55 plus for dry clean. Hurriedly left the place not looking at the receipt but found at later she charged me 5.50 each and almost $7 for dry clean. Paid $17 for 3. When I tried to talk to her she answered with an accent and pretended did not know what I'm talking about. NEVER NEVER set foot again . It's just 5 bucks overcharge but I don't like the DECeIt. Don't ever go there people. To those who say they're courteous, they're NOT, to their fellow Asians. I say this because I'm one. read more

I had the worst experience with Hi-Hat Cleaners today. The background is that I have been taking my clothes there for 4 years and have had a few problems over the years. Most recently I gave them 6 shirts and got back 5. When I told the guy he said there was only 5 and I miss counted. Within a few hours he called back to say he found number 6. Last week I picked up shirts and two pants (I only own 3 pair) and when I tried one pair on they did not fit. They were not mine. They were snug and a different shade of black, but the were similar. I went back right away and a part-time worker said "No one returned yours yet, these must be yours" (UGH) I hoped someone would find mine and make the trade. They called and asked me to come by so this morning I did. The woman owner was there. I asked her policy for lost pants and she would not answer. She asked me to try them on, so i did and they were tight, a bit too long but not much. She insisted they were mine. She said perhaps I picked up a friends or guests pants and had a few other reasons why this happened. I did not experience her hearing anything I said. She said the worker gets it right 99 percent of the time, to which I said this was the other 1 percent. Nothing. My complaint is not only that they lost my pants but their constant arrogance and refusal to believe anything is their responsibility. And that they did not hear me or believe me was troubling. I have no need to spend time with this. If they would have apologized for the error, held the pants and said lets wait a week or two to see what happens I would have been much happier. The pants cost me $140 and I will replace them. I am going to give the unknown pair to charity and NEVER use Hit-Hat again. Stay away from this cleaners. If you never have a problem, it is all good. I have been Ok with their work for the most part. But when they fuck up, forget it, they will turn a deaf ear. The woman who ownes the shop is self-righteous and stubborn. read more

This place is super inconsistent. It's only charm is that it's convenient location. Other then that... they are not the best.. They even lost my pants and told me that I never brought it in... Additionally, they staple tags right into shirt tags/pants tags instead of wrapping around the tags.. which ends up sometimes ruining the tags and you get fly aways which makes the back of your neck itchy! read more

I've been taking my clothes to Hi-Hat for about 4 years. I have never had any problems. My clothes are always beautifully cleaned and pressed. I've never had issues with overheated ironing, any other damages, or lost items. They let me know up front if they won't be able to remove a stain. Their seamstress is amazingly talented (and sweet). I've used other services (which are quite good as well) but I always return to Hi-Hat, particularly with my more expensive items. read more

Here's the thing - I always assume that when people rate something low that there might be a little bit of rage behind it and so I try to take everything with a grain of salt. So, I'm writing this review when I'm a lot less angry than I was originally in hopes of being fair. I've used these cleaners before, and while I find their prices to be slightly exorbitant, they're close to my apartment & that counts for something. I dropped off a stack of shirts, took my ticket & went on my way. When my husband returned to pick up his stuff - he noticed a large stain on the pocket of one of his shirts. When he saw it - he told the cashier who said, I don't know what happened - we'll try to clean it, come back for it. Fine. That was satisfactory to me because I knew the stain hadn't been there originally (my husband NEVER carries things in his pockets). A day or so later, someone from the cleaners called me and attempted to explain to me what had happened. This conversation was definitely a struggle because of the language barrier. She was saying that they never even cleaned the shirt, that it had just been placed on a machine of some sort, so something had to have been in the pocket already. We kind of went back and forth until she finally said she would just talk to my husband when he came in. Oookay. We BOTH went back the next day they were open, they produced the shirt with the stain again. It honestly looked like the fabric had melted onto itself or if there had been gum in the pocket. My husband doesn't chew gum, so I knew that was out of the question. AGAIN, after going back and forth that the stain/burn hadn't been there originally and the cashier taking it to the back to consult someone (I'm assuming the same person who had called me previously) they said they would try to remove it. I returned AGAIN to pick up the shirt, gave the ticket I had been given and was told my ticket was invalid. Say what? So they look and I spot the shirt and when I point it out to her - the lady goes back and forth with me for about 40 seconds saying that's not my shirt but after she looks me up in the computer - realizes that it is. I note the presence of the stain which she blames on us and I say fine, thank you - prepared to leave and never return. She asks to explain, and I listen - we didn't clean the shirt, it was already there, you did this. Okay, I've already heard this story and it still stinks. So, having said all that - i can't endorse them. I'm mad that first things first - they didn't clean the shirts. They had been laundered when I dropped them off but since I was told that the price was the same to clean or simply to press, I asked to have them cleaned again. I am angry about the shirt because even IF there had been something in the pocket, would a cleaner not do something as simple as check a garments pockets? If only for the sake of their equipment? So, hit or miss. In my 3 times dropping something off - 2 were good experiences, but this 1 was enough to sour me on them for life. Proceed at your own risk. read more

I can't speak to the other reviewers' experiences, but I have had nothing but GREAT experiences with Helen and the staff at Hi Hat. They are very prompt, courteous and always have my clothes ready with no problems at all. It's truly a family business! Prices are competetive, and they have much more of a personal touch than Bergmann's or some of the other cleaners in the area. There is always plenty of free parking and the location is great...right off Lee Hwy, near 66 and VA Square/Rosslyn/Georgetown metro areas. Best of all, you can stop by The Italian Store (!), Starbucks, Giant or CVS on your way in or out of Hi Hat. What more could you ask for...visit Hi Hat!! read more

We like Hi Hat because the people who run it are always super friendly. Same day service is easily available and regular service is usually only a day or two. They give you a receipt with a barcode when you bring in your items so it makes it quick and easy to check out when you return. We go here two weeks or so (suits, dress pants, and shirts) and everything is returned quickly and well cleaned. I had a pair of khakis hemmed here and they did a great job for $12. read more

These guys are dishonest in a very sad way. I have been a client of theirs for the last 2 years- using their services every 2 weeks at an avg of $70 each time. I recently got 1 dress altered there and trusted them enough not to try- well I had the misfortune of finding out they did not alter the dress at all. When I brought it back and told them, they questioned if this was indeed the dress. Mind you this was a $20 alteration...when I asked them how they think they can fix this they responded they didn't know. Anyway they can keep the $20 and I'll take my business elsewhere. Beware! read more

Definitely the worst dry cleaning I've ever had so far. I Just picked up my clothes and they still in the same exact condition I dropped them off in; I wonder if they ever cleaned them, who knows. Anyway I'm never going back there and don't recommend them to anyone! read more

Wish I could select no Stars... I have been using Hi-Hat for over two years now, and just encountered my first problem; which they are not taking responsibility for since the item is a "Luxury" item. I brought my designer T-Shirt in for cleaning of a stain, which they tried to remove using chemicals, and died part of the shirt completely ruining the shirt; and still not able to remove the stain... they are not taking responsibility after the owner said I am one of the best customers spending over 3,000$ in the past two years on dry cleaning at Hi-Hat. I have confirmed that this was an issue with how they laundered the shirt. Shame on them for loosing a customer! read more

I was in DC for the weekend and needed dry cleaning done for a special event. The clothes came out cleaner than ever before. Stains that didn't come out with previous dry cleaners came out when these folks did my cleaning. They are AWESOME! read more

I've had hit or miss experiences with local dry cleaners and have to say Hi Hat has always been above par. My only caveat is to ask the prices before committing to alterations (or cleaning of non-everyday items) read more

I have had some BAD experiences with dry cleaners in this area, but luckily (knock on wood) this place has been consistently good to me. The prices at this super tiny shop are probably considered average for the area, but I've paid much more at Bergmann's and Hert Cleaners which are only right down the street. The service is great here. They work quickly. And I love the woman who does alterations - she does a great job and is super sweet to boot. Besides, it's right next door to the Italian Store (my favorite place in the world) which allows me to get my pizza fix on the way out. read more

I had a very bad experience with both the dry cleaning and alternations and I will never go back. I had a pair of jeans hemmed, granted not an easy alteration, but they looked horrible. I had to get them altered by someone else before I could wear them. They misplaced one of my sweaters, and I didn't feel that my items were properly cleaned. read more

The arrogance levels on these people of hi-hat cleaners mentioned in other reviews are through the roof, for one. The 3 times I used them I was also unimpressed with the cleaning/pressing (for example, when I asked about a stain that didn't come out--just asking about it--I got a flip of the hand and a "not happening"). I also tried to pay for both the cleaning of a sweater and the cleaning of the interior of a purse at the same time with a credit card. Apparently, all purse cleanings have to be paid by cash (for what reason, I don't know). So, even though the total was above their $10 limit for credit cards, they held my stuff hostage until I gave them cash. I suppose because they are in a good location and get plenty of business that they feel that they can treat people however they want. I just think that's a real shame. read more

Terrible customer service. Their hours online state they are open until 6:00 PM on Saturdays, but it turns out they are actually open until 5:30 PM. When I got there at 5:25 PM, all the lights were off, but I saw someone still inside so I waited for her to come to the door. She informed me they were closed. I told her that their hours online stated they were open until 6:00 PM, but the sign on the door said 5:30 PM, but it wasn't even 5:30 PM yet, so it was very confusing. She started yelling at me and said that she only closed a couple minutes early and that I shouldn't have come so close to closing time and that it was my fault. I will never go back there again. read more

Destroyed the shirt buttons on the sleeves on a brand new shirt from Hugh & Crye the first and only time I went there. The buttons are all cracked and crumbling as if someone sat there and took a hammer to them! read more

I have gone to this place twice to get a pair of boots resoled and reheeled. I was disappointed both times, but unfortunately, it's convenient to my house and I'll probably be going back (masochistic?) Basically, just ask for the prices before doing anything (the woman that works there will probably try to not give the prices to you, but really insist). She's super spastic and fails to listen to anything the customer says, as other reviewers have pointed out. I think part of it is the language barrier thing, but the other part is just general poor customer service. I guess she's never heard of "the customer's always right." read more

I think these guys do a so-so job on cleaning. I am not going back because of the sticker shock I got the last time. The cashier asked me to count the shirts while she checked in the ladies' garments. They charged me $6 and up for very plain women's shirts and sweaters. She will not discuss any prices with you unless you specifically ask her. And she pretends to not hear you. They've also ruined a new shirt but after a lot of back and forth, we finally spoke to this guy who is there only on the weekends. They reimbursed us for the shirt with no trouble - just took a while. I am definitely going to look at other options. read more

To piggyback off of what some have said here, they are terrific at not taking any responsibility for damaging your clothes and/or improper tailoring. I have put up with more excuses than I should have from them for the sheer fact that they are conveniently located by my house, and that they were able to make me second guess myself on a number of occassions. Buuuut, after four occasions where my clothes were damaged, and an incident of horrible tailoring, I have had enough. On two separate occasions they ripped my shirt, only to tell me that that was how I dropped it off. On the two other occasions they burned spots into my clothing, then said that the spots were there already. When they tailored my pants they made one too short, and the other too tight in the crotch area. Completely overpriced as well and not worth the hassle read more

They have gotten a little more consistent and the people working there are always really friendly. I think the quality is average, nothing to really complain about and the alterations are good enough. I don't think I'd go out of my way but being that they are close to home, it has worked for the last 5+ years... read more

I recently moved to the area and after researching different cleaners I chose this one. They ruined one of my blouses which had been dry cleaned numerous times in the past at a different cleaners. The material was a heavy black gauze with embroidering and now it's a see through paper thin material, looks like burnt gauze, stretched out on the sides and shorter in the length by at least 4 inches. When I went to put it on, I was in tears as it was one of my favorite tops and expensive. I can never wear it nor would even consider donating due to the condition. If you have clothes you like and want to never be able to wear them again then this is the place to go. I'm not sure how they stay in business. Good luck!ll read more

They are highly disorganized. I have come back twice in 2 weeks for a shirt that they cannot find. Would not recommend.

Pat got it right. I will never take anything there again. Prices are outrageous, charges for the most expensive item instead of the actual (like a sweater price because the shirt had embroidery) They suck at getting stains out. Use bad English as an excuse to not understand your complaints. The one price cleaners put more effort in your clothes than this place does. read more

I had an earlier problem with this cleaner with a lost item, but they finally found it after a couple of weeks. But this was really over the top. They cleaned a coat with a faux fur hood. Returned it totally matted and ratty looking. I had only worn the coat for one season and I loved it. They promised to fix it. After many return visits, since last spring 2010 (!), they finally returned it today. The "repair" consisted of a much smaller piece of faux fur sewed onto the hood. The original was really full and framed the face; it was visible whether the hood was up or not. Really, it was beautiful. I complained and they were quite dismissive, saying "I tried! Thank you! Have a nice day." No offer to refund or pay for a replacement. Needless to say I will not go back. P.S. I found the coat online for $160 and bought it tonight. I love this coat. read more

Staff and owners are generally friendly and they meet the turn around times advertised. They have not lost any of my clothes like some of the other reviews mentioned, but I have had a few random stains show up that I am positive were not there when I dropped them off. I have two frustrating beefs with Hi-Hat Cleaners. First is that despite repeated requests to stop doing this, they continually press my (men's) button down shirts like a women's blouse - with the collar spread way out like a 1970s disco outfit. This happens even the shirt has a buttoned collar. Second is they are mutilating my buttons. Brand new shirts are needing buttons replaced (they're crumbling) after 5 or so trips to the cleaners. And these aren't cheap shirts. read more

AWFUL! DO NOT GO HERE! Conveniently, they lost the most expensive shirt I dropped off. It's not so much about the $300 price tag of the shirt - but dammit, that shirt looked great on me! Looks like I'll be going back to Theory to buy another one. Ridiculous. Infuriating. Save yourself some money and frustration and do not go here. You get what you pay for! Cheap = Terrible. I'm sure this shirt will show up on eBay in the near future. Maybe I can buy it back... read more

I've been here 3 times to have alterations done. I had the waist taken in on slacks and jeans and they now fit perfectly. I also had the sleeves on a blazer shortened. I thought $20 for the waist alteration wasn't so bad but $25 for the sleeves seemed kind of high. The woman here is very friendly and she seems to know all of her regulars by name and even knows some of the kids. read more

I used them for several years and they are nice and polite. After a while I noticed many of my shirts - even those that were just a few months old - were developing small tears near the left cuff. There is something that his 'iron guy' does that results in tears. I talked to Glen who offered to have his seamstress sew them - but would not replace them. Bad news... read more

They are friendly as far as getting your business. Cleaning is adequate and they have a way of adding charges. When you ask about them, they just repeat what the charge is for as if that makes it right. I'm looking elsewhere. read more

Unbelieveable customer service! I have been using Hi-hat cleaners for several years now. Glenn and Helen are amazing people.
