I went to Homers a few weeks ago and purchased Channel Orange by Frank Ocean. When I got home, both…read morevinyls skipped (A and B side of each skip). I went back the next day and the person at the counter seemed confused when I told him that they skipped. I advised that I wanted another copy. I suggested he test the vinyl and let him know that I wouldn't come here like this if I didn't have to. I really wanted the record. So after a few minutes and him talking to another employee, he provided another vinyl. I get home, same exact thing. Skips in the beginning. I went on Reddit and learned that others were having the same issue. I go back to Homers about a week later and was looking for Blond by Frank Ocean. When I asked the employee (different person from before) if they had it in stock, he tells me that any Frank Ocean vinyl I see in stores are most likely bootlegs. Says his records sell out online. I was a bit stunned. I didn't consider Homers to be a store that sold bootleg records. I always thought their reputation was a bit stronger than that. Needless to say I was very disappointed. They do not allow refunds and the record I received was a $60+ dollar bootleg. I took an L at Homers. Why not just put that you don't have any in stock? I'll be shopping elsewhere. I've added images of the official from the site and the bootleg I received. You can check Reddit and others provide their experience with this bootleg vinyl. Same thing.

The worker (who I suspect was the owner?) was kind enough to box them up for me so they wouldn't get damaged on the flight home. Yes please.) There are vintage clothes, cool posters, sports memorabilia, and nostalgic toys. There's even a little area where a vintage style TV is playing old movies. My favorite part of the store was that there was a SHOP KITTY! She was so adorable and I'm guessing sweet (she slept and purred the entire time we were there, so she's at least chill with strangers anyway). Every corner and end of this shop is packed to the gills with neat things, so you'll for sure find at least one thing you have to have. We definitely did (an interactive Iron Man helmet LOL). Before you head into the center of Benson, definitely make a stop at this shop to check out their awesome wares!

I was excited to visit the new and used book store that recently opened in Bellevue. It's been a…read morelong time since Bellevue had a book store, so this is a welcome addition. The vibe in the store is noticeably peaceful. The tasteful music, lighting, and comfy seating is immediately welcoming. The space has room to grow, and a glance in the back room with its stock of books indicates that growth will be coming. As it is now, the shelves are organized by genre and alphabetically. I noticed a lot of familiar authors in the fiction books and many interesting titles in nonfiction. If my tbr pile was not already so large, I would have been tempted to buy more books than I did. I had a nice conversation with Fearless, one of the owners. He's a great listener as evidenced by how he listened to my motor mouth go on and on. He's a prolific reader, so if you want advice about your next read or just want to talk books, he's your man. Fearless says they are hoping to make the store a place where people feel comfortable enough to hang out and have a cup of tea or coffee. There are tables and chairs for working or just sitting and talking. The website indicates they sometimes buy books, but also accept donations. If you're wanting to support a local book shop, give 2 Dads a go.

I kind of don't want to even tell you how awesome Mothership Comics is, but I won't gatekeep - it…read more is. awesome! My husband and I have been comic collectors for years, so we are always on the hunt for when new shops open or shows are in town with comics. I randomly searched one day and saw a new result pop up - Mothership Comics. After a quick chat to a fellow collector about them (singing their praises), we were off to check it out. When we walked in the door, we knew we were among friends, and my husband went off talking forever to the owner, Adam, about anything and everything they had in common in their collecting. The interior is so nostalgic. It reminds me of the old comic shops we used to go to. Like Dragon's Lair when the they used to be on 80th and Blondo by Treasure Mart (I am dating myself, here). I loved that Motherships has the classic comic store vibe inside. Like, I literally felt like a little kid again! They had boxes of comics galore, but also some really cool graded classic ones behind the counter. They had comics, obviously, but also collectibles, Pokemon things, compendiums, posters, mangas, and even a whole room of music items too - like vinyls, CDs, shirts, and concert posters. Both of mine and my husband's favorite things - comics and music! And the prices are very fair. We even did a trade in for a graded comic we wanted that was on the wall. If you're looking for a certain issue or have some to trade in, this is the place for it, definitely. We were so excited to see a new comic shop open up, and after visiting Mothership and their awesome proprietor, we will be return customers for sure!
