I went back the next day and the person at the counter seemed confused when I told him that they skipped. I advised that I wanted another copy. I suggested he test the vinyl and let him know that I wouldn't come here like this if I didn't have to. I really wanted the record. So after a few minutes and him talking to another employee, he provided another vinyl. I get home, same exact thing. Skips in the beginning. I went on Reddit and learned that others were having the same issue. I go back to Homers about a week later and was looking for Blond by Frank Ocean. When I asked the employee (different person from before) if they had it in stock, he tells me that any Frank Ocean vinyl I see in stores are most likely bootlegs. Says his records sell out online. I was a bit stunned. I didn't consider Homers to be a store that sold bootleg records. I always thought their reputation was a bit stronger than that. Needless to say I was very disappointed. They do not allow refunds and the record I received was a $60+ dollar bootleg. I took an L at Homers. Why not just put that you don't have any in stock? I'll be shopping elsewhere. My husband and I have been comic collectors for years, so we are always on the hunt for when new shops open or shows are in town with comics. I randomly searched one day and saw a new result pop up - Mothership Comics. After a quick chat to a fellow collector about them (singing their praises), we were off to check it out. When we walked in the door, we knew we were among friends, and my husband went off talking forever to the owner, Adam, about anything and everything they had in common in their collecting. The interior is so nostalgic. It reminds me of the old comic shops we used to go to. Like Dragon's Lair when the they used to be on 80th and Blondo by Treasure Mart (I am dating myself, here). I loved that Motherships has the classic comic store vibe inside. Like, I literally felt like a little kid again! They had boxes of comics galore, but also some really cool graded classic ones behind the counter. They had comics, obviously, but also collectibles, Pokemon things, compendiums, posters, mangas, and even a whole room of music items too - like vinyls, CDs, shirts, and concert posters. Both of mine and my husband's favorite things - comics and music! And the prices are very fair. We even did a trade in for a graded comic we wanted that was on the wall. If you're looking for a certain issue or have some to trade in, this is the place for it, definitely. We were so excited to see a new comic shop open up, and after visiting Mothership and their awesome proprietor, we will be return customers for sure!
