I wear Silhouette frames because they are practically weightless. I took four Silhouette frames in and ordered prescription lenses. A slightly tinted pair that I wanted in orange, but were made rose, an everyday pair, reading, and sunglasses for a total cost of $3,270.80, with discounts for ordering multiple lenses. I do find them very pricey, but I thought I would get what I wanted. I'm a senior and this is a lot of money for me to spend and as it turns out, waste. I'm happy with one pair out of the four which I paid $700. for. The licensed optician who I ordered from did not listen to me and with the one exception, didn't order the shapes i wanted. The first pair, tinted, I apparently ordered incorrectly and they remade them, but still not to my liking. However, after the reading and sunglasses were not what I ordered, I question if i did get the tinted lenses wrong. The optician was very pleasant, but I would have preferred to get what I actually ordered. The reading glasses were supposed to be basic, but the price increased by $300. with no explanation. I wanted basic rectangle readers, but got designer lenses which were the same shape as the tinted lenses that I didn't like. I asked why the price difference, but instead of an answer, I got emailed and printed copies of the invoices. I'm stuck with readers I don't like, and having to replace the tinted lenses and sunglasses. Lastly, the multiple pair discount was supposed to be on three lenses, but the invoice only shows a discount on two pair. Initially the optician tried to tell me that one of my frames should be replaced with no explanation as to why they were inferior. Once she discovered that I was ordering four pairs of lenses, the same frames were good to use... This was a long and drawn out process, where I had to go back and forth a number of times, full of frustration. I do not recommend buying your glasses at Mount Pleasant Optometry.

She was…read more conscientious, didn't rush through any processes and after completing the new prescription allowed me to look at the photo results of both eyes pointing out the areas of concern. She is a gentle, soft spoken doctor with a lovely kind manner while maintaining a professional approach to all of the eye issues (retina detachments and laser surgeries) that had altered my vision. The optical center of the lenses ended up being off which caused me eye strain so I had to go back and get them re-done. The contact lenses that I got with it were also not exactly what I asked for (same brand but different curvature). I wanted them to match the same ones that I had fitted by my optometrist at Mount Pleasant Optometry. If you have more complicated eye issues like astigmatism (like me) I would suggest going to an actual optometrist so they can account for that kind of stuff. There are no optometrists at this place. Basically I'm just frustrated that the time wasn't taken to get them done properly the first time and I had to go out of my way to go back there again.

The day I went to the Main Street location for an exam was very busy with about 10+ customers. Staff were swamped and perhaps feeling the pressure of needing to attend to everyone without making them wait too long. I didn't wait too long and felt confident in the optician who did the examination. The person who helped me with frames did not rush me, was focused on what I needed despite all of the other customers milling around and was super friendly, helpful and efficient. Main Street can have a bad rep of being a bit snobby, but this was the friendliest shop I've ever been to on Main aside from Red Cat. It was actually disarming how friendly and unpretentious they were. The Manager was also so helpful, professional and very knowledgeable and I could tell he was totally on top of things and knew how to operate the business with the technical knowledge for the type of business it is. It felt like he actually cared about his staff, customers and how well this location performed. Superb job in a very challenging time when staff are hard to find, retain and keep happy. I'll admit that I originally went to another location where the staff looked through a big manual to answer my questions and I left not ordering anything because I didn't feel confident in what they were telling me. I had broken 2 pairs of Prada glasses and had wandering around without being able to see for almost…read morea year. I had a few other pairs of Prada frames kicking around, and I wondered if I could use them to fix the ones that had broken. I also had some sunglasses that were either loose, bent, or missing nose pieces. I walked in to Opticana and was greeted by 2 friendly ladies. They were able to take my broken Pradas (both pairs) and use my other Prada frames to give me 2 fully fixed pairs of eyeglasses! They also fixed my designer sunglasses (4 pairs). This was all done i less then half hour. I knew they were closing soon, and I offered to come back the next day, but they insisted that they would finish. The total for everything? ONLY 27$!! I was floored! I tried to give them a tip, but they wouldn't take it. This place is awesome and I certainly will be back!
