Excellent service! i was impressed! Most corporate businesses do not allow the user to use their own old frame for a new prescription. Thus increasing costs to the consumer. However, On Time Optical replaces lenses as an alternative to buying a complete pair of glasses. In addition, they are a local business and have their own lab in the store which allows them to make your glasses within a week vs 3 weeks offered at most places. My progressive lenses cost $360 instead of $500. I love this place and will return again and again. Highly recommended! read more

I had a pleasant interaction with Zuheir Merali today Monday 21 Oct 2024. Zuheir seems very knowledgeable and was very patient while I tried on several different pairs of glasses. Unfortunately what spoiled the experience was a Texan man who was only there to pick up his wife's glasses but stayed to have an extended conversation with another person who works there. Apparently his wife has to work in BC to maintain her license once a month and it seemed from how he was greeted he was a long term customer) Talking about where he is from he loudly complained about the situation in Vancouver and that like here and in Texas "they" are taking our culture (his white one) and complained how in Texas there were too many Mexicans "who are different from us". As I am of south asian origin hearing that made me turn around and looked pointedly at the person who worked there but he seem to be enjoying the racist conversation that was taking place. I find it extremely strange considering the cultural background of the people who work there and the fact that other customers there at the time who were not white. Zuheir Merali was helping another couple who were of Asian origin at the time and wasn't involved with the conversation. I had really wanted to buy two frames from this place but ended up walking out telling Zuheir I will comeback later.. This was the first time I had ever stepped into this store and honestly after hearing this customer and the way in which the person who was working there was just agreeing to everything this guy said, I left feeling disgusted. I just couldn't stomach any more of the conversation that was taking place and it made me not want to purchase anything from the store. read more

I had two objectives in visiting an optical store: 1. Find out how bad my eyesight had gone in the last 2 years since I last got my prescription tested. 2. Find a new pair of cool frames to go with new lens prescription. Still newish to the Fairview area, I wasn't sure which optical store to go to but I went to this one after seeing it received about half a star higher rating than another one I was considering and I'm glad I did! I had great service and an awesome deal on a new pair of Michael Kors frames for about $180, not including price of lens or taxes. The staff was helpful and attentive in helping me pick out a pair of frames and waved the eye test for me since I ended up waiting! It was really generous of them to wave this fee for me. Beyond the personal touch in providing suggestions on frames, this gesture went above and beyond my customer expectations. It was extremely considerate, and still highly appreciative. I also didn't bring my prescription but Mr. Zuheir let me take the test and said that I can always email the last prescription in so that we could compare the difference in eyesight. On-time optical is generally great - it give quality at a good price. I would advice going in the week-day when the gentleman, who is the owner, is present - he is professional with great follow-on support. I went in the weekend, where there is a lady with an atitude, that makes one feel fleeced - and the follow-on support from her is not great (she makes it feel as if it's your own fault); kinda like that condescending aunt you always had, the one that made you dread Christmas family reunions, and was excellent at putting every one down. I would give the place 5 stars if not for the service from some of the staff; go on week days and you will have good value and better customer experience. read more

My wife and I have been going to On Time Optical for close to 10 years. The value and quality has been very good and above expectations. Recently I went back after an extended absence and order a pair of prescription glasses. I paid ~ $255 which seemed like a good price for the frames/lenses ordered. Two days after receiving the glasses I noticed that there was a gap on the top rim of the glasses. I went back with the glasses, thinking as a long time customer, and with previous experiences of service, it would be a simple case of simply applying glue to the top rim in order to seal it (aside from unattractive, it seemed like a bacterial trap). I was very surprised went the optician was very brisk and tried to convince me that the frames are shipped like that and there was nothing wrong. It looked very obvious to me that the glue holding the top rim had come apart and I was taken back when she tried to convince me otherwise - aside from being an old customer, I was appalled that she would have such bad customer service. I left my glasses there and followed up again by telephone on when they could be repaired - I was again aghast to be told that such defects were normal and I should expect it; her tone was unfortunately condescending and bordering on being a bully. I can't believe that I was treated in this manner and I do not pay vendors in order to be insulted - I pay to get quality items and to be treated in a positive manner. To cut the long story short, a couple days I was called that the replacement frames where in the store. I subsequently went to the store to transfer the lenses - the new frames did not suffer the defect of the previous pair; but again I was very disappointed with the atmosphere where the owner and his staff seem to be very cold and as if I was inconveniencing them. This is not customer service I would expect and I will take my hard earn money elsewhere in future. read more

There are a dozen different eyeglasses stores in the Fairview Slopes area, but On Time gave me the best price by far. I was looking to replace the lenses in two of my glasses, and because I did two at once, they each cost me $80 to replace. (I opted for the coating, but not the special thin lenses) This compares to $90-140/pair of glasses in all the other stores in the area. Service was very polite and friendly, and my glasses were available for pickup the next day! When I picked them up, I was even offered a spare hard case for free, since I had been shamefully putting my second pair in a fuzzy sock. Overall, nice, and quick service! Wonderful service, and great products! Also can have eye exam done on walk in basis. However there is a large lady there, who is very rude and has mood swings! Sometimes she is : "ok" other times she looks like she wants to spit at you. I go in on days when she is not there now. I wonder if the wonderful owner is aware of how bad she can be? read more

I came here to get some information since I broke my best friends glasses, however, haven't replaced 'cause he needs an eye test. They had a deal with $89 single vision, however, had to read the fine print and found out that it really wasn't that much of a deal. Small store with decent frames, many over priced. If you are looking for service, on time optical is your go to place. The team is great - with Zuheir, Dr. Merali, and Bev all on deck. What I really appreciate from the team is that Zuheir patiently listened to my needs, and put my best interests first and foremost, in advising me to refit a new prescription with old frames rather than recommending me to buy a new frame. His willingness to do what's best for me made me choose on time optical as my go to place. Furthermore, when I was wondering how to use my funds wisely, he kindly recommended that I try out the new pair he refitted, and come back and see if contacts or a back up pair would be best. I have in the past come in with a serious problem, needing to get glasses fast to finish a lab project that would have been impossible with an eye infection and unable to use contacts. I came in to On Time 25 years ago for inexpensive eyewear and they've been my choice ever since. They nice have frames for whatever their lowest price is and the only time frames have given up on me is when I've sat on, stepped on or lost them. The salespeople are friendly and patient.
