Heytea drinks were wonderfully refreshing. You can walk in and place your order at the kiosk. The place appears clean and minimalist. You must have patience as drinks are all made to order. There's ample staff but it still takes about 10-15 minutes for it. I ordered the coconut mango boom and the grape boom. The bits of fresh fruit and high quality ingredients really make the drink. Sooooo many people in line for this tea -- I had to try it! Placed my order at the kiosk and waited for my number to come up. It was an assembly line of teas coming up and the staff calling out numbers. There was a constant flow of patrons coming in and out. The ambiance is pretty minimal and sterile. Such a large space, all white, felt like a facility. My order came up. I ordered tea and well...it was tea. Nothing special or particularly significant. The teas here are consistent. I ordered online for pickup on a Saturday early afternoon. Even ordering online, there was a 20 minute wait for pickup. And then when the drink was ready I had to wait again to actually get the drink. At least 3 people in front of me trying to pick up were told their drinks weren't even ready yet, so the whole pickup process was just chaotic since there's not that much space to wait for pickup by that counter. There needs to be more order and someone help people with the pickup process instead of having everyone congregate in one spot even when their drinks aren't ready yet. read more

Obsessed with this little spot! I actually stumbled upon HeyTea while walking down the street. Intrigued by a few of the drink offerings and clean modern, all-white aesthetics I decided to poke my head in. The drinks looked intriguing and I absolutely loved the design of the cups they were being served in. I opted for Cloud Coconut Blue which is "coconut water and custom coconut milk, tinted with blue spirulina, layered over handmade coconut jelly" and topped with match cloud. If all that sounds exciting to you, then amazing - because even without knowing all of those elements, the visual itself (combined with my love for coconut and matcha) pretty much sealed the deal for me. I decided to try the triple Matcha and I added Sago. It is very good. The matcha has a strong profile and the foam is creamy. The matcha pudding is also creamy. Woah how did I just discover this place?! Ordered the triple supreme matcha. It has 4 different layers of matcha and wow. How do I explain this texture experience?! On top of that I ordered brown sugar tapioca and wow. They sure knew how to impress me. The perfect chew in tapioca. Flavorful matcha jelly. Perfect cheese foam. It may be a reason why Starbucks is reportably struggling because U.S. consumers are having more alternative options to high-end drinking experiences. What's so different about HeyTea(喜茶)? I learned that it's its unique sensational signature tea styles. It incorporates fruits, milk and natural sugars that adds twists to a tea experience, as compared to its traditional bubble milk-tea with ice. Teas are blended from fruits and topped with flavored matcha and magnolia foams (often advertised as fluffy clouds) on high quality tea. HeyTea also offers rare or limited editions that include mulberry, mango, coconut and other fruit flavors. Not only it is different than most traditional American chains, it is new, innovative, but also healthier as it uses no low-quality tea, coffee, and artificial sugars. A cup of HeyTea costs anywhere between $7-$10, which is comparable to a cup of Starbucks drink. I've tried the jasmine and coconut and mango blue. I did not find it immediately impressive. As I do not like to mix juices with tea. The mango bits were a bit chunky for me. Though I enjoyed the simplicity of jasmine tea topped with foam - it felt like a cherry on top - not to mention that I did taste the quality difference. My friend who oftens the Grand Street location recommends the mulberry and yumberry booms. Overall, many of the locations are decorated as mordern with a minimalistic feel. The wait at the Grand Street location is usually long and crowded. I highly recommend people download the HeyTea app and order in advance. This way, not only will you get the coupons/promos that come with the app, but you'll also skip the line. To sum and to leave some "drinks for thought" - What do you think? Love this location! At the heart of Chinatown, close to B/D trains at Grand St station. This store is HUGE and has a lot of seating available. The interior is kept clean by staff and has a lot of space for you to wait for your drink and walk around as well. I'm a huge fan of the Passionfruit blast! If real seeds are not your thing, maybe avoid this drink though. I got this drink with less sugar and it was just the right amount of sweetness for me. (I live for sugary junk food though!) I would come back here again, whether it's to meet up and chat, hang out, or to grab a drink on the way to somewhere. 10/10. read more

My friends also tried this one because I told them it was my favorite. They enjoyed it, but still preferred the grapefruit version since it has a bit of a bitter flavor mixed in. I'm a fan of HeyTea chain, but wow... they are popping up everywhere. I like the fact you can mobile order and save some time and not wait in the crowded space. Almost all the HeyTea branches, are always crowded... and the space is not huge either. At least this location on Grand Street, has some seating... and standing area. This corner locating is a lot bigger than the Lafayette location. I was overjoyed when I saw the Yayoi Kusuma cup on display at the counter only to have that emotion turn to dismay when I found out it's no longer available. It's a display only. Another customer thought they got the jackpot, until I told them I asked already and it's not available. On the plus side, I got to try the matcha which a friend told me to try. I decided on the matcha zen and it's delicious. The employee made the twisting cap turn so easily and when I tried it wasn't until I read the instructions (heh!). You need to lift/squeeze the twisting part corner and and turn. Not the most convenient if you have only 1 hand available (think grocery bags that you have to leave on the floor). Truthfully, I could have saved the environmental street since the cover opening is sufficient. The employee was nice to show me how to open the cup . You can order from the counter or the self-serve kiosk by the entrance. Listen to your order number, since they take the receipt in order for you pick up your item.
