I had heard service of food and wine was so efficient that we decided to play the "order as we go" game and was not disappointed. A lot of our ordering was done based on what the waitress recommended and I was surprised that things which sounded not bad were outstandingly good - probably due to the freshness of produce. My recommendations? - Order wine by the glass, there is plenty of it and you can pair your wines with the share plates. - Get the Kingfish sashimi in coconut milk with coriander and the pepper crusted barramundi wings, soy, chilli, shallot dressing as minimum for starters. - Get Blue Swimmer Crab Parpadelle. It is better than my Italian in-laws make being light, melt in your mouth strands of joy and the crab wasn't overloaded in the dish nor was it sparsely disappointing. You probably won't feel like sharing that dish though! Every dish is made to share, so you don't end up fighting over 3 arancini balls nor wondering where the rest of the meal is. The dishes are fresh, quick and bit sized, this is a wonderful place to spend time in on a winters evening with a cosy, candle lit atmosphere suitable for a group of sharing, caring friends.

Their menu caters to the sharers amoungst us with a small and large option on pretty much everything. We ordered 4-5 sharing small options and were completely stuffed by the end. My favoutrite......the dumplings......or maybe the thai beef salad....... Each dish was more delicious than the last. The wine list didn't have alot of wines I knew as Im a big fan of SA wines but with advice from staff we chose the French rose. Oh my was it good. I highly highly highly recommend a visit to this beautifully set out small restaurant.

Although the upgrade occured about 6 years ago now, it jumped from the category of old dive (which I define as 'character') to overly priced trendisimo spot. I wont rip into the place too much, as it is still a good bar and actually has a good feel to it when it isn't chocka block full of pretentious knobs. The menu is decent, with a couple of dishes that seem to be returning to popularity. Although it is a bit over priced for a pub, the quality is good, so It isn't too big of a deal. Your pocket really gets hit by the beer and fancy drinks (with and without pretty umbrellas). Don't be surprised if you don't get any change back from a 20 for two pints of imported amber goodness. All in all it is a pretty good bar, but I tend to enjoy it more on the off peak times. Do make sure you are cashed up if you intend to have a solid session on the turps though!

I will title my review three things: Suitable for sharing-…read moreif there is only two of you eating... Everything is recommended' (according to the wait staff...). Don't take your vegetarian or vegetable loving friends here. Ok once you get past the decor of this place the food is ok. But very meat heavy, hugely lacking vegetables and serving sizes are very light on especially as they suggest on the menu that things should be shared. Any restaurant that suggests that you share wins my heart. And this place does exactly that, however how you share those dishes is a little beyond me. The entrees would be pretty easy I guess, although the 'classic beef tartare' is very light on and is missing acid and a dash of spice and cornichons (and 50g of meat) and served with clunky, thick, white baguette croutons (NO! classic tartare has wafer thin potato chips). The duck pate would be suitable for two - three shares (again served with the same croutons). The crepe with langoustine and prawns was perfect to share and if a butter, cream hit is what you're after here you go! But I liked this one (i love butter). The prawn special was good but again nice and buttery. So what I'm saying is expect a lot of butter. They REALLY push the sides. Don't do it. When ordering you get the choice of 4 types of potato sides and two 'greens' being beans with almonds or a very dull salad. The beans are $8.50 and you literally pay $1 for bean (there were 8 sad beans on the tiny dish) and 50c for 6 slithers of almond (equating to 1.5 almonds) and they throw in the butter for free. The chips are $6.50 and you get a tiny little basket with the not very apple flavoured aioli. If you need chips go across the road to the burger place after. On that, let's talk about service. The whole ordering process was very rushed, interrupted and just invasive. We had two waiters 'competing' to take our orders and I think they came over to or table and interrupted conversations every 2 minutes for the first 15 of us being there. The girl was particularly bad. So at the 12 minute mark (#3 are you ready yet) we said yes and my mum talked through the whole menu with the waitress who now had 10 min + wait whilst everyone sat there and decided. On asking for recommendations 'everything was good' and she basically listed off every item being recommended. Mains were very vegetable lacking, meaty and heavy. With not quite 2 beans per person to share between the five of us, the micro green garnishes on each plate did not quite cut it. I had the duck salad with lentils and apple. The sauce was quite sweet and I will take that because I should have known with 'apple' on the menu. The chicken and lamb were all meat heavy. The corn puree was one of those 'corn smears'. STOP 'smearing' unless you are a degustation restaurant and the meat is three bites because there are 7 other courses to come. And the lamb needed something more. All meats were cooked perfectly. If this was a review on cooking meat they would get 4-5 stars. The decor is black, it looks like 'fashion dead taxidermy rats' hanging from the ceiling and just too much. I don't get the pictures and the toilets, for the price that you are paying per bean, are dreadful- especially the foyer bit just before you workout that the toilets are unisex (no signage) is messy and just dirty. I couldn't find anywhere to put my jacket as the window what we sat in was really really dirty, dusty gross. I hope the kitchen is cleaner. Wine list good. Missing some price points of 40-50 for the reds. Beer list sad.

One of the best culinary experiences in my visit to Adelaide!…read more We ordered escargot, pork, beef cheek, duck, French fries and the lamb to share between 4 people. Sharing of the dishes is polite suggestion of this restaurant and it made for a great experience. We were all very satiated by our meals. It was all simply to die for, the flavours were rich and the meat was well cooked and tender. Such attention to detail. There was a bit of a mix up with our order and the staff rectified it and adjusted our bill as a gesture of good will. Very focused on customer service and it pays to do so, I will be back. This place is a mere hidden gem of North Adelaide. I loved the mushrooms severed with the lamb, that could have been a meal on its own! The prices we very reasonable for the quality, the 4 of us ate for just more than $145 combined which is good considering we had 6 dishes between 4 people. LOVED this place and it's cute artwork and Parisian street art decor.

This is a place to take someone special if the game is to impress and indulge…read more As a veteran to the cafe, it remains as one of my favourites. Through the "Festival of Food" program was how I discovered this gem many moons ago. It has a fantastic view and is situated at the Windy Point Lookout, as the suggests. The service here keeps the bar high in the hospitality industry. Everyone appreciate that friendly and knowledgable staff is worth their weight in gold and this establishment gets a tick from me. We were here for the Festival of Food preview, the official program kicks off in May. Our food journey begins with the housemade ciabatta with red pepper butter. Our entree tasting plate comprised of crocodile chipolata with a sweet potato harissa, thornby lamb shoulder, ras el hanout, saag aloo with a spinach puree. They were all good except for the lamb. Not a fan of red meat, I gave my share away. The main attraction arrived and they were beautifully plated. I had the barramundi with battered mussels accompanied by a fennel and orange salad. The skordalia paste completed the dish. The barramundi was perfection. Simply melted in my mouth. The salad contrasted nicely against the heaviness of the battered mussels and the richness of the fish. The other girls both had red meat. One had the kangaroo and the other had the steak. Both were happy with how their meat were cooked. We ordered some fat chips to share and did not regret our decision. They were super crunchy and filled a void on a cold Autumn night. As part of the Festival of Food, our dining experience was completed by the arrival of petit fours (French for small oven, is usually a small confectionary or savoury appetizer). Ours included nutella puffs and lemon, lime & butters marshmellows. Interesting take on the original marshmellow, however I could have lived without it, personally. The puffs were average, nothing of note here. The girls did opt for desserts as well. One enjoyed the tasting plate immensely. The other not so much. The consistency of the panna cotta was too hard, not well executed it seems. As Meatloaf would bellow, "two out of three ain't bad". Despite the disappointment of our desserts, our entrees and mains were spot on. The desserts will not deter our return and we are happily looking forward to our next treat at this fabulous establishment.

Great food, amazing service and a spectacular view, windy point cafe is a dining triple threat!…read more I came here for my 21st and was very very happy with my night. I made a booking through the festival of food which gave a particular deal which was $31 for bread, Entre, main course and a dessert tasting plate (such good value). We had the one waitress for the night and she was very friendly, asking us with every course whether we were happy with the food and giving a description of each course. I didn't even mention it was my 21st when I booked but sure enough when dessert came out they had a birthday message written for me. The Entre was comprised of three delicious bite sized portions, crocodile chipolata, thornby lamb shoulder and saag aloo. The lamb shoulder was particularly good and just melted in your mouth. Following on from that really all the meat served to us was cooked to perfection, at our table someone had the kangaroo which was done well, a steak was ordered which was asked to be medium well done and came out just as they wanted and the chicken breast did not have a hint of dryness to it. Afterwards we were asked if we wanted to order dessert but the mains were so big that we didn't have the room! 10/10 windy point cafe is definitely worth your money!
