It seems so tiny and yet it packs 'em in. We sat outside on a pleasant day. Tiny there, too, if one is talking the size of table. But it seemed to work. The service was cheerful and snappy and the passing life in Ebenezer Place was lively, lots of people seeming to know each other. There was a lot of meeting and greeting around the tiny restaurant entrance. Waiters politely dodged the impediments. Our snails came with proper escargot tongs in the most exquisite garlic and herb butter. The toasty French bread was a bit too crisp to soak up the butter but it was just as well. My friend had Croque Monsieur which was rich and wicked, bechamel sauce and cheese and a fried egg on top . He simply wolfed it down. My boned and butterflied trout with green beans took longer to eat and every morsel was a joy. The trout was nicely charcoal-seared on the skin side and very lightly cooked on top. The tastes and textures sang together in a light buttery sauce from the beans which were not too firm but just right. It was best trout I have ever had and I am still purring with pleasure. read more

Such a lovely accent. * Design and presentation of the café is so different in a unique way, perfect for Adelaide. With bright coloured seats outside and mirrors with gold framing covering the left side of the wall as you walk in. Gives the café a vintage look but then again a unique look in an Adelaide way. * Serving alcohol in drinks and food for breakfast, brunch and lunch. Interesting! * Large selection of meals to choose from. * Large portion size, there should be a sign of guarantee that you will not leave with an empty stomach! * Service was fast & sweet. And sandwiches are AMAZING! I mean when I think about ordering a sandwich outside of home, I think well what's the point really? But arriving at Hey Jupiter and reading the reviews about their sandwiches, made me grab one anyway. I grabbed the Poached Free Range Chicken Breast which should have gave myself some time to breath whilst stuffing it down my mouth! SWOON - anyone who asks you in a French accent "what you would like today," or "can I get you a croissant?" has me made. I may not have even been hungry when I went into Hey Jupiter but by the end I couldn't resist the accent and just had to eat! This place is a far cry from Tori Amos' depressing song lyrics and it will leave you buzzing on a high from their 5 Senses coffee while giving you a warm soothed belly from their foodgasmic menu of Au Matin Calmé pastries and homemade, fresh ciabatta sandwiches. Do not walk down Ebenezer Place without stopping into this green little hole in the wall. It has been perfectly decked out with a vintage counter and pastry cabinet, big blackboard menus full of delicious treats from breakfast and lunch items and a wall full of mirrors that makes you feel like you've walked into an Alice and Wonderland world. My highlight of the morning was trying their Pumpkin Falafel and Spinach Ciabatta with Goats Cheese - lightly toasted. This sweet cafe really makes you feel like you're on holiday in Paris. I had the continental breakfast which is perfect for indecisive people who cant decide between a sweet or savoury breakfast. It consisted of two slices of bread, one boiled egg, ham, cheese and a croissant and jams. Everyone else at my table got sandwiches, and were all very happy with their choices. I was in Adelaide for 2 days and went here twice. Yup, it's a winner. This adorable little cafe has an eclectic fit out, complete with nanna's tableware and doilies. They make some delicious sandwiches. The breakfast sandwich with crispy pancetta, avocado and lemon mayo was super tasty. That mayo is addictive. Coffee is from Five Senses and on the money, but their fresh juices are even better. The fresh orange and pineapple juice was perfectly tart. I was there with a group and everyone else seemed happy with their breakfasts, particularly the continental with a bit of everything on your plate. For lunch, there's another big lineup of sambos and I suspect the pork belly is a local favourite, judging by the tally for kilos of pork belly sold written on the wall. They were over 1100 when I was there. Nuts. While I didn't try the pork belly myself, I can recommend their poached chicken with mushroom tartare on turkish pide. Mmmm. If I was a Radelaidian, this would be my regular haunt for sure. read more

Quite possibly the best gourmet sandwiches in Adelaide. I've visited several times, and the consistency of the sandwiches is nothing short of amazing. My favourite include the mouthwatering salt roasted beetroot and the roast pork sandwiches. Made from scratch, the zesty flavours are truly a treat for the taste buds. During peak times, it can be difficult finding a table, but I've never really had to wait long. The staff always do their best to try and accommodate customers. An absolute gem of a cafe. read more

Wow!! What an amazing cafe!!! The space is a little small, but once seated it does not feel cramped. Has a slight hipster feel, yet the wait staff were very attentive, not over bearing. The coffee was the best I had in Adelaide (although I only had a few in Adelaide) but the Bloody Mary was the best I've had (excluding the ones I make, obviously). The balancing of flavours was something you'd expect in a high end cocktail bar, not a cafe. Well done guys! I had the baked eggs (they take about 15 min - as the menu states, so if you're in a hurry, try something else). I chose the pancetta instead of the smoked salmon. Again, the balancing of flavours was superb. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars (and this is personal preference) is my eggs were cooked all the way through. I would have loved to stick my fork in and have that running goodness of the yolks filter down throughout the dish. I tried some of my mates cassoulet, and it too was amazing. "Another bowl of coffee please Christoph my good man," is not something I would ever have imagined myself saying outside of the odd acid flashback, but at Hey Jupiter this line gets passed around like the clap. It's early and I'm in Ebenezer Lane for a meeting with Yelp Adelaide. (Let's just take a moment to recognise the immense awesomeness of that street name, shall we?). Garlic is frying inside and great piquant wafts of it drift tantalisingly out onto the street, taking lucky passers-by to flavour country. We order coffees. Christoph, a charming, bustling Belgian, brings out two Andre The Giant-sized bowls of steaming, creamy cafe au lait. I don't know whether to dunk my entire head in or strip down and jump in. Next comes baked eggs cocette, a ceramic bowl stuffed with field mushrooms, potato, spinach, eggs, with a bottom layer of delicious, slightly burnt, slightly caramelised baked garlic. I would go to war for this breakfast. Across the street, a vintage Mustang decked out with a Shelby Cobra blue and white-striped paint kit parks and a man with the worlds biggest, bushiest, angriest beard gets out and bounces away on the balls of his feet. read more

This cafe is one of many down Ebenezer Place that consistently provides incredible coffee and incredible food in a stunning atmosphere. Hey Jupiter is fairly hard to miss with its bright green and orange chairs that litter it's doorstep, step inside and your eyes will met a trendy yet authentically vintage counter and a beautiful array of mirrors that litter the wall to your left. I've been here quite a few times, simply to get a coffee as the brews are consistently wholesome and to my delight, they don't litter the top of your cappuccino with chocolate. I enjoy the pure taste of coffee too much and it annoys me that just about everywhere sprinkles chocolate on top. What's that I hear, you don't drink coffee? Try their Turkish apple iced tea, something that wins me over any day above 30 degrees! Furthermore, their food menu is sufficient in which I'd highly recommend the pork belly or beef sandwiches for lunch, both of which have been absolutely scrumptious for me on no less than 4 occasions to this date. The staff are incredibly welcoming and efficient and waiting a long time for your drink and or food is simply not an issue here. It's beginning to get incredibly difficult to try other little cafes along Ebenezer whilst Hey Jupiter consistently dishes up the goods time after time. I can't wait to return! read more

Judging by the sea of seating scattered in front of this cafe you know it means business in this tucked away corner of town. Lucky to score an outside table three of us sat down and got some great service from a vivacious and friendly owner! The atmosphere was fantastic and there were obviously some locals who knew most of the businessmen, creatives and cyclists that meandered past. So far so good! Menu is a little pricey but the coffee was made with love, and the fast delivery made it perfection. My partner insisted the $10.50 Toasted BLT, whilst looking plain, was "the best toasted sandwich...ever?". Ever had 'coffee' with people who's idea of getting brunch means a single coffee which is expected to last three hours and everybody else in the place is eating this great looking food and you finished your short black an hour and a half ago and you'd eat your socks if it was remotely socially acceptable? This place sells sandwiched that made commit social taboos. Perhaps I should take a step back. It is, to a degree, my own damn fault for ordering an espresso in a world full of lattes and cappuccinos. Two sips. Done. Now we wait. In my defence the coffee here was a voodoo potion of liquid magic that conjured the spirits of the Inca and I didn't want it sullied with any of that 'water' or 'milk' stuff. So a moral victory then? Anyway, I was hungry and nobody else was eating. Jesus had less temptation in the desert. These sandwiches are much much better than my willpower. Mine had some combination of very lovely ingredients and a bit of that French love stuff I keep hearing about (no tongue though) and was worth upsetting my social circle over. The French accented service was excellent and made me blush. Prices were humble. Decor was... well its Ebenezer Place, what do you think the decor was like? Like it should be wearing lenseless glasses and an ironic moustache tattoo but somehow manages to make you feel all friendly and relaxed instead of wanting to hit a hipster with a bat. Why four stars then? If Hey Jupiter was on Jetty Rd, it would get 6 stars. If it was on Melbourne St it would get 7. 150 stars anywhere in the western suburbs. But in Ebenezer Place, 5 stars would (should?) imply that it is absolutely the most unmissable spot on the street and I'm not sure it is - not because anything is wrong with it, because the competition there is so equally remarkable. Any café that actively fights the good fight both for doilies and perfect sandwiches is a café for me. Especially when they do the aforementioned in precious surroundings while swiveling around hearty French wines (and accents). These sandwiches are exceptional. And while the pork belly with celery and apple gets all the attention, it was the pumpkin falafel that won me over. That said, I really don't think you can go wrong. Hands down the best coffee in Radelaide city. And the best sandwiches too. Oh and whilst we're at it: the French guy (the owner I think) is great and pretty quickly gets to know all of his customers. And all of the others that work there are cool too. Recommended is the pancetta and avocado sandwich or the pork belly sandwich. YUM. They really know how to condiment. Also, the baked beans with ham hock are comfort food deliciousness. Not so keen on the scrambled eggs but they can perfectly poach eggs. They also have a continental breakfast option with boiled eggs and a croissant with coffee or juice which is good if you want savoury and sweet. Their booze list is AWESOME- both spirits and wine wise. And their bloody marys are AMAZING. They come in a carafe so they are super social and you can share between two (but don't because you will want to drink it all to yourself). If I could only dine in one place for the rest of my life it would be at Hey Jupiter, this place is tops. Friendly staff who take your order straight off the bat, cozy furniture, sprawling alfresco area in idyllic surrounds and a snazzy delectable menu with a breakfast menu that demands attention. The coffee here is the best I've had in Adelaide, hands down. I'll order short blacks here till I'm bouncing off the ceiling with caffeinated happiness. There is also a rather delightful range of pastries here, but honestly, come here for lunch. Hey Jupiter has a fantastic selection of fancy sandwiches and soups to keep any fussy eater wondrously content. I practically cried into my smoked salmon sandwich the balance was so perfect between the fish and the horseradish and the onion and ohhhhh I want to go have another! Hey Jupiter is somewhere you could spend the rest of your day in, slowly accumulating coffee hits till "BAM!" its 5am and you haven't slept for 72 hours. I have been there several times this week and I don't have a bad thing to say about the place . The coffee is some of the best I have had and I have had some great coffee . I have only sampled the lunch menu but I have heard from friends that the breakfast is great as well. Its very difficult to go past the pork belly sandwich it comes out with coleslaw and is amazing (there is also a running tally on how much in kgs they have sold of the pork belly inside) The service is excellent and it's a good place to sit down and watch the world go by. If you visiting like me or a local this is the best thing I have found in adealide during my trip. read more

Don't you dare stroll past this lovely, quaint coffee shop in Ebenezer Place. Run by the charming Frenchman Christophe, they serve one of the best coffee's I've had on the East side of town. The decor is understated yet classy. There's outdoor seating too... perfect for an iced coffee on a lazy summer afternoon. I'd heard about the legendary delicious bowls of coffee and I was happy to say the legends were true. Tucked down Ebenezer Place, I'd walked past many times but never taken the time to check it out until recently. The service was exceptional and the cafe au lait ridiculously good. The only thing I regret was eating lunch before my meeting thus not being able to try one of their sandwiches. The outdoor seating really gives you a unique perspective of the East End with a slightly different arrangement of tables and chair conducive to chatting with friends and people watching. The menu at Jupiter's is HUGE which made me quite exited for all the food choices but on closer inspection on the food front it was quite hollow. If you come here for lunch I would suggest unless you are after a sandwich this cafe is not for you. The flavours are amazing and so delicate, however, they are quite small and there is not options to order any sides. I can imagine if I had taken some of my male friends to Jupiter's they would not have been happy to pay $12/$13 dollars for a small sandwich. My lunch partner and I however, ordered two vegetarian sandwiches to share, one beetroot and one enchilada and loved them. The ingredients were so well flavoured and fresh. We had the barramundi with artichoke sauce, and confit of duck salad, with a side order of fries. Delicious! We tried two wines, one from our waitresses region in France. Hey Jupiter has a lot of charm. It's in the East end of Adelaide and sits on arguably one of the most culturally-rich streets in the area. It has French style seating where instead of facing one another, you face out to the street, effectively allowing you to people watch without it being creepy. That being said, it leaves a lot to the imagination. The food is nice but the coffee is inconsistent and the service average. I've never walked in and really felt welcomed like I have in other cafes around the area - which leads me to my next point. The area is bustling with cafe's; there's five businesses all vying for your attention in a 30m strip! I recommend trying one of the others before visiting Hey Jupiter. read more

I was hoping for better. When I dine out I want to experience meals that are better than what I make at home. This wasn't the case last night. Salade nicoise I could have knocked up myself for a quick work lunch. My friends confit canard was nice but no potatoes! Sacre Bleu! For the price it was disappointing.
