Great ski area! Easy to get to and 2-3 low level runs for beginners and great tubing! We had a blast!

The common theme to many reviews is poor management and customer service. We can attest to this!…read moreWe (2 adults) purchased the Summer 5 activity pass ($49 each) at 11:45 AM. We were able to ride the chairlift up and back. We went to get into the line for the Alpine Slide. Almost immediately, they closed everything down due to lightning strikes near by. 30 minutes and extended another 30 minutes after each new strike. Reading the website, it states that when a weather DELAY happens you have an hour to ask for a refund. It also says after 2:00 there are no refunds. If you use your pass at all, you get a partial refund (great! We'll take the 75% refund since we rode one activity and the delay kept getting extended) Holy cow the nonsense at the ticket booth! No refunds unless they "close". You can use it all season. Different terminology on the website and on the laminated sheet at the register. We were leaving to go back to AZ the next day so we wouldn't be back this season. It took 4 families asking for refunds and referring to the website's refund policy (delay vs closed not selling any tickets during the delay so are they closed?!!) and 3 levels of employees to finally get our money back and then finally admitting the policy terminology is contradictory and confusing and "will be updated and changed soon". The activities all looked fun and we understand weather happens but this has to happen a lot with summer storms. They really try to steal your money with a poorly written policy and a rude cashier who obviously never read the website. Questionable if we'll return.

I came to teach a friend to snowboard and by the end of the day she was doing falling leaf without falling!!! ;-) They've got 4 groomed trails, tree runs, a small terrain park, and 1 double chair lift. Senior (65+) $17.00 This is there extended holiday schedule: MLK Weekend: 1/17 - 1/21 Presidents Weekend: 2/14 - 2/18 If you're into night skiing, Kendall Mountain will light up the trails on three Saturdays throughout the season: January 19th, February 9th (with Snowscape Fireworks!) and March 23rd. Food vendors, beer and wine, a bonfire and a DJ will be spinning up some tunes all evening! Night skiing will run from 5 - 9 pm, and tickets are $25 adults, $17 kids/seniors, and children 5 and under ski free (day tickets, discount passes and season passes are not valid for night skiing). All in all I loved Kendall Mountain...even bought some KM swag, but I'm giving them four stars because the chairlift dismount was a HUGE drop and not very beginner friendly. Don't worry, I sill love Kendall Mountain but I sure hope they work on smoothing out that dismount!

My son and I planned ahead and purchased our First Class tickets several months in advance to secure our seats. The adults-only First Class car had sold out nearly three months ahead, but we were fortunate to obtain seats in the Prospector First Class car, which welcomes families. The First Class experience was excellent and included comfortable your own attendant, restrooms, individual padded chairs, unlimited nonalcoholic beverages, a souvenir insulated cup, and a keepsake gift bag. Guests were also treated to a blueberry muffin at the start of the trip and a chocolate chip cookie on the return journey, which added a nice touch to the overall experience. The scenery is truly the star of the trip. The breathtaking views of the mountains, river rapids, forests, and rugged canyon landscape are unforgettable and worth the price of admission alone. For the best views, I recommend sitting on the right side of the train traveling to Silverton and on the left side during the return to Durango. While the large windows provide good visibility, I found that photography from the seats can sometimes be obstructed. If capturing great photos is a priority, consider choosing seats near the middle of the car so you can easily anticipate upcoming viewpoints. Alternatively, seats near either end of the car offer quicker access to the outdoor platforms, where the best photographs can be taken. Passengers should be aware that the historic steam locomotive creates a fair amount of movement. The train rocks and sways regularly, which is part of its authentic charm, but those prone to motion sickness may want to take preventative medication before departure. The crew advises maintaining three points of contact whenever moving about the train, which is excellent advice. The journey is approximately three and a half hours each way, with several stops to refill water for the steam engine. While passengers are welcome to bring their own snacks, there is also a food and alcoholic beverage car available for additional purchases. This is certainly not an inexpensive excursion. Our two First Class tickets cost just under $500. When the staff asked whether it was our first train ride, I laughed and thought, "Yes, because this is probably not an everyday experience!" However, after seeing the spectacular scenery, I can honestly say it was worth every dollar. When you arrive in Silverton, I recommend heading directly to the restaurant where you'd like to eat rather than wandering around first. Time is limited, and lunch lines can become quite long. Silverton itself is a charming former mining town filled with restaurants, souvenir shops, and fudge stores. While shopping opportunities are plentiful, expect typical tourist-town pricing. Overall, this was a memorable and worthwhile experience that combined history, adventure, and some of the most stunning scenery in the Southwest. If you're visiting southwestern Colorado, I highly recommend making the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad part of your itinerary. It was an unforgettable highlight of our trip.

They start by grouping people by activity level and aggressiveness desired, we fell into moderate for both. Different people in the our group in each but same awesome guide, shoutout to Cameron!! There's only one lift but the bus system and way they separate the groups is very efficient. The runs are amazingg and the I highly recommend the heli-drops. The next time we go back, we're definitely doing a 3 or 6 pack instead of just the one. The hiking is...brutal, at that elevation and when your legs are already tiring from going down the mountain, it was difficult for me. And I would consider myself a fairly fit person coming from Denver so already at a higher altitude to begin with. The second day seemed slightly easier than the first. The mountain is amazing, the town is adorable. As someone who wants to go in the backcountry but slightly nervous going without an expert, I really loved my experience. Our guide was so knowledgeable, asked for our preferences, and was super patient with me which I appreciated! I can't wait to go back!
