These guys are miracle workers! Missed my pick up day, went in the following morning on 4th of July weekend, all cars were booked They worked some magic and found a car for me! I picked Hertz because they had better prices than anyone else, with what they did for me today, I will not only making Hertz the only rental car company I will use, I will tell any and every one I know to only use hertz! LETS GO indeed! read more

Terrible location. Allowed me to book online for a specific car at this location with a car seat. Just for them to call me telling me they don't have that vehicle and trying to upsell me on a more expensive car. No accommodation. And at the end, they say "oh by the way we also don't have a car seat. Thanks for nothing. Never use this location. read more

Rented a card from them in the beginning of April because my car was recently in an accident so I needed a car to drive took my credit card and my insurance was paying the other end of it when I went to drop off the car I had for roughly about 10 days. I paid the difference that I owed them for the Rent-A-Car that the insurance didn't pay well now every month they're charging my card for tolls and I haven't had the car for about over a month. They charged me four times plus when I got the car I had an eye pass in there that I switched over that had money on for tolls so I wouldn't rent a car from them because they suck. I don't want anything like this to happen to other people. I'm going there tomorrow because I need a reimbursement. They just charged me $22 for tolls today and I haven't had the car. read more

The staff at this location is extremely rude and unprofessional. I called to see if the vehicle could be picked up early and was greeted by quite possibly the rudest individual I have every dealt with. After a quick conversation about their attitude things got better. I am not your parent, I should not have to tell you to act like a grown professional. The vehicle was FILTHY! I had to clean the vehicle before I would dare put passengers in it. When this was pointed out, there was no solution, no apology, nothing but a shrug. I have three individual $1.00 charges on my company card that I have to provide receipts for. I plan on calling today to have them removed...this review may be updated with further comments after this next encounter. read more

ZERO STARS!! Do. Not. Ever. Rent here!!! They gave away my reservation to another walk in customer and told me they had no more rentals. I asked for an upgrade to another vehicle and they told me to leave!!! I asked for their supervisor's contact information and they told me to get out and started to call the local police!! Very rude, disrespectful and condescending! They made me go to another Hertz rental location more than 30 minutes away as they did not want to honor the rental agreement that I had with Statefarm. Both Roslyn and Isaiah need to be reprimanded and retrained!! Management needs to show the surveillance footage to all their employees to see how NOT to treat customers!! read more

Brendan is amazing in his commitment to customer service; he goes above and beyond with grace and a grin. While roadside assistance wasn't impressive in the help they provided, he is. Thats why only 4 stars. Brendan deserves 6. read more

Will not answer the phone. Waited on hold for 15 mins and called multiple times. Very frustrating.

Zero stars! DO NOT RENT CARS FROM HERE!!!!! I had a reservation and paid an amount online and once I got there they no longer had the car I had reserved . They gave me updated and charged me DOUBLE! Call hertz and I still haven't/ won't receive a full refund which I don't understand if it wasn't my fault they had given the car I pre reserved weeks before my trip read more

The Manager there is very rude has no customer service skills my Son was renting a car from there nothing but problems. We then went to National and had zero problems . Thank you National read more

No cars!!!... Then why did they accept a rental which I've had for over a week....and I'm top-tier - Presidents Circle - with their rewards program. The quantity of time renting cars to get to that status is a lot!! This is the second time I've had problems renting from this location....seriously, the 2nd time! Better to rent at Avis, which is two minutes from this location or at National, which is about five minutes away. Hertz - never again!!! read more

We arrived at this office with a valid reservation in hand. They advised us they did not have a car available for us and they could not do anything to help us. The customer service rep suggested we take a car to the airport, 45 minutes away, where they had plenty of cars. We did not have time for this office's apparent repeated ineptitude at managing their fleet. Despite multiple attempts at trying to get assistance from this office, they simply began to ignore the fact that we were even there. After about an hour, the manager showed up. When we advised him of the situation, he said he could not help us and dismissed us with a "have a nice day". We ended up having to scramble to find a car at Enterprise in St. Charles, but at a cost of $170 more than our Hertz reservation, the cost difference that was dismissed by Hertz as "our problem". When we went to pick up the car at Enterprise in St. Charles, their office was not surprised at our story and said that particular Hertz location was notorious for this type of issue. Is anybody at Hertz Corporation paying attention to these repeated location issues? Does anyone at Hertz even care their customers are being treated so rudely and end up renting from a competitor? Does anyone at Hertz care they just lost a #1 Club Gold Member over this issue? Save yourself the money, aggravation and anger at being left without a promised reserved car that you were counting on. DO NOT RENT FROM THE HERTZ, ST. CHARLES, IL LOCATION. Go ANYWHERE else! read more

Terrible rental experience. It took nearly two hours for them to get the dirty rental car to me because they lost my reservation. They are stating that I didn't return the car when I did, and I was charged for the next renter's tolls. When I went in to ask about the issue, Scott rudely put his hands up in my face and said "I can't help you." I have spent over three hours on the phone with Hertz trying to sort this problem out and still do not have a solution. Do not rent from this location! read more

The worst service imaginable. I made a reservation on Tuesday for Friday rental. I got a confirmation email and everything. I show up on Friday to pick up the car and I'm told that they don't have my reservation and they can't help. No apologies. Just "there is nothing I can do". I've been renting from Hertz for almost 20 years, most of them President's Circle. I can only imagine how these imbeciles treat regular walk-ins. Beware! I wish I read the reviews of this place before I booked. read more

Thanks for letting me know less than 24 hours before my rental pickup that you don't have ANY CARS to fulfill my reservation. Thanks for making me scramble last minute to find a car somewhere else. Thanks for making zero effort to rectify the situation by trying to find an available car somewhere else or at the very least giving me credit towards a rental in the future. I fully understand why the rating for this place is so low. I highly recommend anyone considering giving this place your business to look elsewhere. read more

I have been there 3 times, every time is a minimum 40 minute wait. Feel like I'm in line at the DMV. Never again.

Great Service!! My family booked a great deal online for our trip.(full size Malibu) Then when we went to pick up the car they gave us a free upgrade after they heard we were going to Tennessee. (mid suv) It was great for our trip and getting up into the mountain! Would definitely book again!! read more

If I could give them 0 stars I would!!...Worst rental experience ever. Prepaid prebooked my rental ..was asked for a returnable deposit no big deal...but then I was told they would need to run a credit check. But no one could tell me why, I've prepaid I'm giving u a deposit why on Earth do u need a credit check. They claim it had to be done but no one could tell me why I refused the credit check and when I asked for a 100% refund and I said I would go someplace else poof they no longer needed a credit check seems very shady to me read more

I typically won't leave negative Yelp review, but for the St. Charles, Illinois Hertz location, I'll make an exception. We booked and PRE-PAID for our car a week in advance. When we showed up to pick it up this morning, they were out of cars! (Read some of the other reviews...apparently this happens a lot at this location!). Okay, how about refunding our money? You'll have to call 1-800 for that. Horrible service, horrible attitude, worst possible experience. After 7 hours of dealing with this location, Hertz' "Customer Service" department, and another Hertz location, they've managed to charge my credit card for a car rental TWICE, plus a security deposit, with only a vague promise of fixing it at some future date. I've rented cars frequently for business for more than 30 years and have never had a miserable experience like this. What should have taken 10 minutes in their store has taken much of my whole day. I'm not supposed to fix/solve customer service problems, they are! There are lots of car rental companies out there. Throw a dart at the Yellow Pages and you're sure to hit a better one than this! And by the way, if someone at Hertz wants to dismiss this review as just another complainer on the internet, check all my other reviews. This is the first negative review I've left--ever. But hey, unlike their "#1 rating," they earned this one. read more

Poor Service. They gave me a stinky car. Clearly, someone smoke inside the car. They did NOT gave me an exchange. I called three other offices at no avail. Their excuse was that there didn't have a car similar to the one I originally got. I will never rent with they again. read more

This Hertz location is the best I've been to. I rent a lot of cars for work and the staff here is super friendly and always willing to help. The cars are always clean and they usually have a good variety to suit my needs. If I'm renting in the Chicagoland area I won't go anywhere else. 9/22/2018 Update: This location has recently changed staff and they are all crooks. I had a reservation that I never picked up and they billed my business credit card on file $410.45. Do not rent from this location!! read more

Reserved a car two weeks in advance and when I went to pick it up they didn't have it. I asked if anything would be available later that day and was told that even if they did, insurance rentals have priority over my reservation and I wouldn't get a car. When I asked why didn't notify me he laughed and said that time got away from him and that doesn't change the fact that he didn't have anything. I can't believe I wasn't notified before I came to pickup my "confirmed" reservation. This was a huge inconvenience and I was offered zero solutions. Worst customer service I have ever received! read more

We arrived early in the morning on a Monday, there were already 3 customers in the lobby. Only one person was working and looked to be very stressed. The person ahead of us, "said Oh, you got to be kidding me I ordered a midsize vehicle." The Hertz employee drove the very small Chevy vehicle across the street to get gas and then came back. The gentlemen went outside and said, "Sorry I ordered a midsize vehicle." So we had to wait for him to find a correct vehicle for this person. Finally, a second employee arrived and she discovered the second computer didn't operate properly. Finally, it was our turn and luckily they did have a Pacifica for us to rent. We asked if we could have a second driver on our last day back since we will be driving straight back. We asked if we would be only charged for that day. The Hertz employee was so exhausted that he said we will be fine. Well, when we returned the car he said our total bill was an extra $128.79. We said, "what you said that we would only be charged for that one day." He then said it is company policy that the fee gets charged from the first day throughout the cars rental period. This is fine but he should have been very clear about that when we were renting the car. He was so over worked and stressed that He did not take the time to clearly define Hertz rental rules. So, from now on I will be renting else where and probably at AVIS. read more

NEVER rent a car from here!!! HORRIBLE service. Yolanda was the worst customer service rep!!! she gave the run around with everything she was saying. Completely contradicted everything she said. When asked to provide proof to back up what she was saying her response was she didn't have it. Reserved car through Expedia and was given a certain price and type of suv, but when got there the price was almost triple the amount and car not available. Then she wanted to offer a suv way smaller than expected for almost triple the cost. Ended up leaving with no car. Complete scam and the service was HORRIBLE!! Again STAY AWAY from here!!! THESE ARE TOTALLY DISHONEST PEOPLE. I booked a Chevy Impala online Friday Oct. 2nd, and when I arrived the next morning on Oct. 3rd., I was told the Impala was gone. I asked how that could be because I specifically came to this location because that's the car I wanted. He said he didn't know, but he offered a Chevy Blazer at the same price. That wasn't what I wanted, but I had gotten a ride 12 miles from home. He pitched me everything . . . insurance, a full tank of gas. Then when I returned it Monday morning, there were already 3 people in the lobby and only 1 person working the counter. I really didn't want to step in because of Covid 19, but another customer was approaching the door, so I went in and stood against a far wall. Finally, a guy came out from the back and asked if we all were there to book a car, and I said "No, I have a return." He looked at my paperwork, asked where it was and said I was good to go. I asked, "Is there anything else?" And he said NO. I saw the manager outside, and asked him when I would receive my $200 deposit, and he said it would take a couple of days to process it. Now, a day later, someone from there has called me and told me I left the vehicle there with a cracked windshield. I strenuously objected, and stated that it was odd that the "crack" appeared a day after I dropped it off. I also mentioned that I was calling my lawyer. I'm going the Hertz corporate office and complain, and I'm going to continue to complain wherever I can, ie., the St. Charles Chamber of Commerce, and the Better Business Bureau. What a scam! read more

Reserved our rental in May, for a trip in june. Thought time was at 12 went then and must of gotten the time mixed up they told us it was reserved for 5 Went back home and returned at 5:15. There was no one at the desk and another person waiting to return their car not sure where anyone who could help was, Waited 10 minutes and finally Joe came there when we asked to pick up the car he said they close at 5, and to check the website, and that he couldn't help us. Then he said I have to go I'm off at 5, and left us high and dry. Why have us pick up at 5 if you close at 5? Google said they close at 6 and we couldn't find their hours anywhere on their website. Now we had to cancel our trip that was planned months is advanced, and people were counting on us to transport a dog and rabbits. They are still trying to change us for the car and we are taking them to small clams court. Nowhere else has cars until Thursday because everyone booked an advanced, like we had tried to. read more

Horrible service. Made a reservation for a full size car, they call me 2 hours before my reservation telling me they have no cars available. Rented a large 2019 Promaster Van. Employee Steve was very friendly but the experience was bad due to the filthy conditions of the van. The outside windshield was sprayed with bugs and it only had a quarter tank of gas. So first stop was to the gas station. The inside was so disgusting I didn't want to touch anything. Gum on the floor, layers of dust, sticky. So much for Covid cleaning or any other type. Got the van home and the back door wouldn't open as the latch was broken. Thankfully I had the right tool to fix it. Then the side door didn't close well because the rubber seal was half ripped out. Finally the driver side door felt and sounded like it would fall off every time it was opened. I couldn't wait to finish the day and drop it back off. read more

I was a loyal Hertz customer for years. Not anymore. Today, I attempted to book a full size SUV for a week long business trip. I decided to call the location to ensure I was getting a full size SUV because I needed the trunk space for boxes and supplies for my meetings. The Hertz employee that I spoke with this morning and this evening was completely incompetent, unprofessional, and unhelpful. He must have been stoned or drunk because I have never had an experience quite like this. He was unable to answer simple questions and talked back to me when I asked him to clarify. It was unbelievable. In the end, Hertz lost out on a $600 rental because they made the mistake of hiring and retaining this employee. (24 year old renter) Needed a rental car for a music festival across the country and procrastinated super hard. It was the day before the fest and we had originally reserved through Enterprise. We had never rented before and didn't know what to expect but enterprise screwed us because they wouldn't let us use a debit card even though we told them on the phone we had no credit card. So we then frantically scoured the area for rental car places and none had cars, until we found this Hertz and they saved the day. An absolute breeze getting the rental and the guy at the front desk was great and extremely helpful! I'm also 99% sure the guy at the front desk was the actor Nicholas D'Agosto. read more

Service here is horrendous! Booked a car for 8 am pick up at the shop since my car was getting dropped off at the shop - got the e-mail confirmation and when the time came no one answered the phone until after 9 AM - the guy told me I would have to find my own way there since he had no one to come get me. Thank god the shop called enterprise for me - they were there within 10 minutes. read more

If you enjoy frustration with your car rental, Hertz is the company for you. If I could, I would give Hertz zero stars. I had traveled to O'Hare Airport and decided to rent a car at the Hertz Car Rental in St. Charles, and I had booked it a month early. When I went there, to my surprise, it was closed. I never received a notification of their hours when I made reservations, since I put down that my pickup time was 1:00 pm. They close at noon on Saturdays. When does a major car rental company close at noon on Saturday? When I made my reservation, they never informed me of their hours. I would have made different arrangements if they close that early. To make matters worse, their door says they close at 1:00 pm, and I was there at 12:45 pm. It took me 3 phone calls to reach a representative that was able to assist me. I was even told to go back to the airport to pick up another car; even though, I had no transportation. I was to be compensated for those 2 days and to get a better rate for my inconvenience. Three 3 weeks later now, I have not received a credit and Hertz keeps charging me for things I am not aware of. I returned the car filled up full with gas. I know that I have to pay for tolls; however, nothing is clear or documented from Hertz. I have spoken again to two more representatives at the moment, and finally one is trying to process my credit of the 2 days. To make matter worse, they don't understand the extra charge, because they don't see it in their system. Please think twice before renting from Hertz. read more

DON'T RENT HERE. This location needs to be audited immediately. The reps were very rude and argumentative. I arrived early for my rental and was denied service. When I return I was denied an upgrade even though I am a gold member. Briana then gave me a vehicle with half a tank of gas, filthy outside, and out of washer fluid. She never altered the contract and stated on the contract that there is a full tank of gas. I will never rent from hertz again and call to have gold membership canceled. Steer clear from here. I called Hertz several days ago and spoke with Erin to set up a rental for today while my car is being repaired at Tri-City Auto. She asked me what time I needed the car and I told her that Tri-City opened at 7:30, so I could be there then. She explained that Hertz also opened at 7:30 so we agreed that 8:00 would be a good time for both of us. I also explained that I would be traveling with a 16 month old and a car-seat in order to ensure this was a good time. So fast-forward to today, I arrive at Tri-City Auto at 8:00 am on the dot and they ask me if I have a rental set up. I explained that yes, I set one up with Erin at Hertz a few days ago and she said they would drop off the rental either the night before or this morning by 8:00. There was no car there, so the gentleman at Tri-City placed a phone call to Hertz and they told him they did not have a car for me. He explained that I had a reservation, and they still said no car, they were all out. This should not have happened and I find it completely rude that Hertz did not even give me a courtesy call to let me know that they would not be able to accommodate me- especially b/c I had reserved this car in advance and I am traveling with a young child, which they knew. Tri-City called Enterprise who came and picked me up and provided me with a rental. I will not be doing business with Hertz again and would advise you to avoid this place. I believe all the other reviews paint an accurate picture of this place and their employees. Sad. read more
