I felt like my Google review was a bit too cruel, so I'll just say that it's a little hard to see the entrance to turn into the lot because it's tucked back, and you should let that motivate you to just keep on driving. Worthless place. read more

They place you on hold as soon as you call. They are rarely helpful and do not communicate need to know information. They also knowingly gave me a damaged vehicle that shakes when I apply the brakes for Uber program. They are just bad news. read more

Picked up the car at 8:15 a.m., returned the car at 3:30 p.m. the same day. Asked if I would have to pay the entire amount since I didn't even have it half of the 24 hour period, the lady said that the computer would tell her when she got it checked in (like there was possibly a chance they would take some money off), but of course, they did not. So for one thing, why even act like there could be a discount, just say no up front! You can bet that if I had checked the car in 2 minutes late, my price would be doubled. read more

Zero stars. Booked a car for a same day drop off in St Louis. Received a reservation reminder the day prior. Took an Uber since no one was available. Arrived on time at day of rental. The assistant !Manager! tells me, "Oh we have no cars." In a very matter of fact manner also says, "I called you yesterday." Yet my reminder messages were still received. After checking my phone logs... no missed calls from the day before. You know what else? No voice mail messages. You know what else? I asked for a refund and was handed a card and told, "You'll have to call the 800#" I asked her to just refund me now. She said I would have to charge you to do a refund. Got another Uber after realizing that this location is likely not a company owned location and is contracted with Hertz. The people here are incredibly inept, have no regard for the customer experience and just seem to be watching the clock until quittin' time. Avoid at all costs. Will never rent from Hertz again. I'll cash out my points and start over someplace else. I recommend the Av1s location in Springfield on Sunshine or Enterprise. read more

I reserved a car almost two weeks in advance and when the day came to pick up the car, they said that they had no vehicles available. I was on a tight schedule and could not afford a stupid situation like this. Good thing I did not give them my credit card ahead of time. They are thieves, liars and all-around bad business. I will be using Enterprise from now on. read more

Crazy poor service. When asked Ian for a solution to a challenge that arrived after Gieko sent us over to get a car he refused to help us with our situation. When I asked to speak to his supervisor or get his number he flat refused to give it to me. Good thing I do not run my business like this, I would be out of business. I was not surprised to see 16 reviews with 15 being one star and 1 two star review. I will be filing a complaint with the federal trade commission as well. So big they forgot the customer. read more

Absolutely the worse experience ever. Rented a car from the STL airport. Turned out to have a defective battery. One day into the trip, the car died...then came back on. Died again a couple days. Customer service got us going with triple a service and told us to take it to this specific location. The staff behind the counter wanted nothing to do with us. Customer service stated due to a defective car, we didn't have to fill it up or anything, just drive it straight there. Upon getting there, they acted loss and clueless to everything and basically forced me to fill up the tank or be charged for it. Explained that the car could die. They didn't care. Went to the gas station and filled it up and surprise! The car died. They refused to help and even said it wasn't their problem and I should tow it to the Springfield airport location. Did my best controlling my frustration and got another jump and gave them the car back with a full tank of gas. They still charged me over 30 dollars for a fuel fee, even though they confirmed it was full. And then refused to refund it. Luckily, the hertz at the airport was extremely helpful and amazing. PEGGY at this location is absolutely one of the worse human beings in how she treated us. Don't give them your business. They don't deserve anyone's money. read more

This location as well as the SGF airport have the nicest employees & best vehicles, I use them often! Brian G the manager is awesome!

Ian Maggot manager is very rude -DO NOT RENT FROM HERE YOU WILL BE SORRY !!!! They need to get rid of Ian Maggot as their manager -horrible customer service and will throw unjustified charges onto your account. When you ask for his supervisors contact info he refuses to give it to you while laughing and acting like its a joke. read more

Too bad you can't give negative stars. I have spent over $3200 renting a vehicle for the last 10 weeks. Hertz sold the vehicle out from under me & had no concerns to make sure they had another vehicle to put me in. I needed a vehicle for 2 more weeks.. Hertz has gotten too big like Walmart & could care less about us little people. read more

I would give a ZERO review if possible. Our rental car had broken down bc of a corrosive battery we had called hertz customer service and they told us that we did not have to refill the rental car and just go to this location to exchange cars. When we arrived the employees insisted that we had to refuel the car or we would be charged for fuel knowing that the car was defective and would probably not start again. My husband took the car to the closest gas station to refuel and, of course, the car did not restart and when we asked the hertz employee what we should do they said "oh you have to call road side assistance again and have them jump start your car". The next day, after this whole ordeal, we went to return the rental car and they still charged us for gas! When we called they stated they had not charged us for gas and would only refer me to the customer service number. DO NOT RENT FROM THIS LOCATION. The employees are rude, unhelpful and disrespectful (esp Peggy). read more

im not clicking on ANY stars. This place is an absolute joke. made our reservations on line, paid for it and when i get there to pick up the car they wont honor it because it was done through priceline. Im on a time schedule because our son is graduating from the Air Force in San Antonio and now we might be late. would not recommend this place to my worst enemy. plus i didnt get a refund, who knows if i even will. id rather guide a team of broken down horses pullin an Amish buggy than to EVER go back to this place. i gotta click on one star to post this but they don't deserve it. read more

DO NOT RENT FROM HURTZ! My wife got a rental through our insurance company and when she got the car, the seat was "wobbly". However, she thought nothing of it because most cars' seats flex back and forth, and have a little give. We returned the car and Hertz called to say that she damaged the seat. They rushed the initial inspection because they were closing up early for the day when my wife went to pick up the car and rented my wife a, now known, unsafe car AFTER they called her saying the car was ready. They wanted us to fill out a "vehicle incident report" that would force us to admit guilt or put us on a do-not-rent list. Maybe your 500lb employee who adjusted the seat all the way back before giving my wife the car broke the seat, didn't realize it, and now we're getting blamed for it? I would rather go without a rental and WALK than rent from Hertz again. Enterprise agrees (obviously), our insurance company agrees, and our attorney agrees. If they want to play games with us, they can expect a lawsuit for failing to perform a proper inspection and renting an unsafe car - hope they're okay with an insurance company and an attorney's audit of their inspection procedures. read more

I had a very cringe worthy RACIST experience there...I made my reservation and showed up early 30 mins before they opened....As I sat outside waiting the young white guy at the counter called me from the inside and started bombarding me with rules and regulations clearly trying to find a reason not to rent to me....I let him know I had all the requirements my RESERVATION required...I then waited outside for another 30 mins......When I finally got in he started telling me he couldn't take my COMPANY CREDIT CARD...... Which had MY BLACK FACE AND FULL NAME ON IT....I then pulled out my debit card which my RESERVATION stated I could use with my CORPORATE CODE.....He would not take that...I asked to speak to the manager and he said he let him know I was waiting and he was on his way...But upon arrival the manager MR. ETHEN walked right past me...I asked if he was the manager?? He said yes and walked into his office....I waited outside in the lobby like a dummy for 20 mins as he ignored me making several calls and practically walking past me several times...... I then asked "IF I WAS WAITING ON ANOTHER MANAGER?" He obviously did not like that and he turned extremely nasty as a MANAGER....By this time ENTERPRISE RENTAL CAR had heard my issue over the phone and sent over a car to pick me up and they were able to take care of me properly with no RACISM...I mean no issues..... So I choose not to participate in their RACISM and left to take care of my business.... They're business is 5 miles away from probably the largest Trucking Company in AMERICA and instead of taking their time and giving good service they are more focused on BEING TYPICAL ENTITLED RACIST PRICKS..... IF YOU ARE BLACK DO NOT WAIST YOUR TIME GOING HERE, ITS NOT WORTH IT...THE VIBES THERE ARE NASTY...DON'T GO I PROMISE IT WILL NOT GO WELL AT ALL.... I was able to record the important part of what happened and I am currently contemplating how to post the footage to get maximum exposure. I am definitely going to cover this on my (YOU TUBE PODCAST) "THE ANGRY BLACK MAN PODCAST"with BREAD MAN the COMEDIAN.... https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=https%3A%2F%2Fm.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DkEh-6mUoJO0&ved=2ahUKEwjZ8vDTxpTlAhVqHTQIHTnBAG4QjjgwC3oECAIQAQ&usg=AOvVaw3s2msnMxqtNBN_tJJkndd7 I am also going to follow up with an attorney to see if I may have a case....Standing at that counter while these 2 white guys basically treated me like crap reminded me of what my parents and grandparents have been through.... It's a damn shame... read more

Hertz Rent A Car - Great rental place - Car Rental Near Me - Springfield, Missouri

They don't honor their reservations. I reserved a car only to have them give it away before I was able to get there. My flight was delayed but still made it there in the time that they said they would hold it. When I asked they said that they only hold them for up to two hours and it was less than two hours when I arrived. They didn't offer another car or any other type of solution so I ended up being out of town without a car to drive. Don't trust them if you actually need a car to drive. read more

Terrible customer service by the people on the front end. Made no effort to find the solution to my problem. They rented a broke car out to me and then when I brought it back less than a day later, they made me call roadside assistance. It may be their policy, but when waiting for 40+ minutes on hold and no attempt was being made to help, I just left and told them they lost a customer. I don't understand why the duty to call roadside assistance falls on me when they rented a broke car out to me. read more

Great service! Cars ready and clean and those people are super nice. The price was better than Enterprise and it wasn't as strict with qualifications. I will continue to use Hertz for all my travels. read more

Horrible customer service. Was promised pick up at work, when I made follow up phone call to make sure everything was arranged no car was available. Right hand didn't know what left hand was doing right down to the branch manager. Told them not to worry about it and borrowed a vehicle from a relative. The most frustrating part of this is that nobody really acted like they cared too much. read more

I hate Hertz. Two days of work lost to these jokers thus far. It would take less time to explain what didn't go wrong. 1) An appointment was scheduled to meet at a car dealership. At the dealership, 10 minutes before our appointment, Hertz calls and says they won't have the car today. Who does that? So, I had to find a ride home at the last minute. 2) I drive to Hertz the next day to get the car. It smells like someone smoked 3 packs of cigarettes a day for years in the auto. Not someone recently smoked a few ciggerrettes. The car smelled of old smoke really bad. And it got worse after the car sat in the summer sun for an hour. It wreaked after it sat in the sun. Perhaps the sprayed an odor neutralized at the lot and that wore off? 3) Hertz was going to come out and exchange the smokey car for a new car. That was at 10AM. I call 4 hours later. Hertz tells me they will be here in 2 hours. read more

The driver who picked me up was very friendly and this is where the good service stopped. The vehicle they gave me was completely torn up and piece of junk. When I requested a different vehicle, I was told they did not have anything. I have called back daily requesting a different car and I'm told the same thing every day. I would never choose to rent a car from them. I will make a point to use a different car rental company during my travels. read more

Won't be requesting a rental car from this Hertz location the next time I'm in Springfield. Made a rental reservation online for a one way from Springfield to Independence. This Hertz location called the morning of the reservation letting me know they could not honor my reservation for a one-way rental due to limited inventory and Spring Break. I asked what other option do I have to get from Springfield to Independence 2.5 hours, their response was Uber. Great idea Hertz, I'm a Gold member but you're right I don't need to rent a car anymore. Planning to uber on all of my business trips from now on. You've lost a long time and loyal customer. read more

Inspect your vehicle!!! Write down every little detail before taking possession. We had a car for a week, employee found a "spatter crack" in the windshield. Microscopic. Consulted his chart and billed us $17. Guessing he had done it before, probably on the same vehicle. read more

We used Hertz recently after my husband wrecked his truck and it was in the shop- the only reason we chose Hertz is because they have an account with State Farm and it cost us almost nothing. The location that deals with insurance claims is located on Chestnut Expressway, behind Hammer's Auto Works, which was convenient for us because that's where the truck was, but they're only open M-F 8-5.... which means most normal people are gonna have to take off work to go pick up their car. We had a tiny car, which was fine and functional. My biggest complaint is with billing. They require a card on file for the rental (normal, okay), and told me no charges would take place until the car was returned. But every other day, a new random hold was put on our account from Hertz. Some days it was $7, some $35. It made little sense, because our agreed fee was $3.05 per day. The charges always fell off, but it was annoying to have the holds. I called to get the invoice, and they said it would be emailed to me. Instead, the charge was directly withdrawn from our account a week later. With our insurance it was only $75 for 3 weeks, but it was just obnoxious they told me not to worry about it and then just took the funds, especially when I tried pretty hard to pay it in the first place. read more

Avoid renting from here if at all possible. Filthy cars, horrible customer service, and ripoff rates. We have rented a car for three consecutive weeks due to ours being in the shop and each car has been filthy...coffee, soda, dirt, etc. Linda's terrible customer service attitude, and dishonest information cost us dearly. Returned our car within the timeframe and requested to extend our rental but she charged is an inflated rate that was 30% higher than online. When my husband realized it 10 minutes later he went back and she refused to adjust...blamed us for keeping the car for three weeks. Seems odd that we'd be charged a premium for them not having to clean the car between rentals. Then when we said we were just going to cancel she charged us another day because we were 10 minutes past the contracted return time. So we were charged a whole day for 10 minutes of horrible customer service. I'll pay more to avoid this place in the future! Interestingly enough another couple ahead of us in line was also experiencing the wrath and robbery of Linda. She should be fired! read more

Rented a car on 12/20-12/28. Called this location on 12/27 to let them know it would be dropped off on 12/29, that we needed it an extra day. They said ok just bring it by. We dropped the car off on 12/29 & nobody was there (Saturday hours/closed weren't posted on the door) called corporate to let them know the car was dropped off. Corporate then transferred me to the emergency road side department. The lady I spoke to there informed me I couldn't have dropped it off because there was no key Dropbox (it's to the right of the door). She then told me to take it to the airport. After arguing with her for 20+ minutes telling her I couldn't because the keys were in the Dropbox she then said we would be charged an extra 3 days because nobody would be back in until after the 1st. Went in the day they were opened after New Years, to discuss the extra three day charge. They then gave me a receipt for $135 and said the other charges would be dropped off the card by midnight that night (when I called to tell them it would be dropped off Saturday instead of Friday they said the total was $604). I asked the manager how there was that much of a difference, he said prices changed. The charges were not dropped off the card like he informed us and come to find out, the receipt for $135 wasn't ours but someone else's. We went back in to discuss the charges again. He then printed the receipt that was actually ours for $604 but couldn't give it to us because of their personal information being on it. I asked for a final receipt for the $604 and he said he couldn't print us one. Then gave us a URL to go online to print it off ourselves. After telling us the first time we went in that their corporates office was in India and they didn't know what was going on, the second time he informed me that they (Springfield location) was corporate. Never got a straight answer about anything that was asked and still don't have OUR final receipt. Will never be back here again read more
