We took his word for it and signed. They refuse to cancel anything. They are so money hungry. What bothers me is the continuing service charge that you get charged quarterly after you pay off the financial part. You can tell them in every form or shape that you can't continue and they will not cancel it at all. Go on vacation on your own without them, believe me it is cheaper and better. I prefer they get no stars but Yelp doesn't allow it.

June 30, 2023 - Friday…read more Review #438 For the past 3 years I have reserved and stayed at this hotel property when it was called the Econo-Lodge of Wilkes-Barre PA so I can drive quick like 15 minutes to and from my cousins house in Mountain Top since we are party animals! :-) Back in the previous years it was built, owned and managed by John ... who is my cousins neighbor. How nice was that! Since He retired and sold this to other management and personnel, they changed the name in May of 2022 to Quality Inn by Choice Hotels. www.choicehotels.com Quality Inn (PA 170) 1075 Wilkes-Barre Blvd. Wilkes-Barre, PA 18702 (570) 823-0600 gm.PA170@choicehotels.com This time I booked my room from Thursday June 1 until Sunday June 4. My check out was Monday morning June 5 after breakfast and DD to cruise the 10 hour drive back home. This hotel has always been well maintained previously and still is in many new ways. Assistant Manager Margie is always pleasant and welcoming at check in and will assist Me day or night when she is working if there's an issue in my room. It seems she gives me a room facing the back parking lot by the way. I always seem to get the 3rd floor with a room in the back so not a problem cuz I don't ever hear the semi trucks that are shifting and whining on the freeway out the window. Comfortable sleeping always here at Quality Inn. The air conditioning and heat back in October 2021 is efficient to keep me cool or warm while sleeping. The bathroom shower has great water pressure and a multi-setting shower head. Free mini bottles of shower items and mini coffee and tea maker machine on the bathroom counter with a must needed working hair dryer. Everything is equipped in every room with cable tv and sign in to their Wi-Fi daily and flashing smoke detectors to show they are working! This 4 day visit I used the Gym Room at 7am to ride a bike and exercise my knees and wake up before my rejuvenate hot shower, so Yes Gym photos attached. I'm waving!!! Afterwards I started my day with their Free Continental Breakfast available in the lobby. Their Breakfast menu here is muffins, bagel, English Muffins, juice, milk, coffee, hot chocolate with dry cereal and oatmeal. Plenty of fresh fruit but No sausage and bacon which I was growling for daily. Saturday morning the Waffle Machine made Me Smile instead. There's always a Free local newspaper of what's happening in Wilkes-Barre so Yahoo! Parking here is plenty in front entrance, on the sides or in back with entry doors to the stairs. I used elevator daily since this hotel has three floors. There's brochures in the lobby near elevator for different tour spots or interesting things to do in PA. Ice & Beverage Machine located on each floor near the lobby. Each room has Free Wi-Fi, In-Room Fridge, Table and Chairs for relaxing or those with business laptops. The service here is professional with friendly staff walking around working hard to accommodate my needs. I had a great night's sleep with four fluffly pillows and a nice plush and light material blanket since bedspreads are for the Fall and Winter times according to Margie at the desk. Quality Inn Arena is next door to a hockey arena called the Mohegan is how it got its new name. Hey Tim in Chicago...The Wilkes-Barre Penguins is the hockey team name here. :-) Enjoy My photos I have posted for this hotel that has changed their name. They are planning to remove the previous wallpaper in all rooms soon therefore my room had no pictures or wall paintings up so understood and still comfortable. The Quality Choice Hotel rate was reasonable for my stay on Thursday and Friday at $88.00 a night adding in State and City Tax fees. On Saturday and Sunday the rate was $98.00 naturally on the weekend but still in budget for Me plus I earned Choice Privilege Points for my stay time. I hope my next stay in the Fall I can redeem a free night or two. Of course They do accept all major credit cards. I booked in advance through choice hotels so my room was on hold till I arrived and checked in to verify my credit card in person and receive my room key card. Nice trade ! Lastly I can say that my overall visit with staying here again with the new name Quality Inn Arena was safe, restful, well maintained to be enjoyable with breakfast in the morning. I notified Yelp during my stay of their new name which changed May 2022 and again after I returned home. Finally 3 weeks later: Your Welcome Margie and Jon employees and efficientmanagement. May Everyone here Keep up your commitment and dedication to serving travelers with satisfaction by choosing a Choice & Quality hotel. My detailed Review is Honest! I Look forward to seeing You Margie and Jon this year again or in 2024 while vacationing from Michigan. Karen N. SpecialK

When I mentioned this to the front desk I was told I needed to ask for service if I wanted fresh towels. The floor was filthy. When I walked from the bed into the shower, I could see black coming from off my feet!!! WTH is that? Mold? And lastly, the TV would intermittingly lose sound and had to be rebooted. Also concerning the TV, if you jostled the unlevel refrigerator the TV would turn off. I suspect some loose connection behind the fridge. I would not stay here again. Would not recommend anyone else stay here. Not a good value for my money.

I agree with the 3.5 for a hotel in general, and I'd probably consider it a 4 in terms of budget…read morehotels in general. For a cheap-ish hotel, it's a good value. It had a fitness room which is a rarity in two star hotels (why I picked it) and the price was lower than you'd pay for a 3 star. The front desk staff was friendly. The free breakfast was basic but nice. I went with packaged yogurt and fruit plus coffee and instant oatmeal. Pretty decent. The room was small and had a musty odor. Sheets were wrinkled. As others have mentioned, it's hard finding the entrance to the hotel from the street. The walls do seem a bit on the thin side, but I slept fine regardless. The hotel seemed safe but some other guest behavior left me scratching my head. (Passing the breakfast nook late morning, I spotted a family eating there barefoot....so not the classiest clientele) Location is pretty good, close to plenty of the shops and attractions in Dickson City. I came here while visiting family. I wouldn't be excited at the prospect of coming back here necessarily, but I would consider it.
