This location is fantastic. Josh the manager and his professional team do an exceptional job. The cars and trucks are all late models and always ready to go when you arrive . Hertz corporate has baseline expectations of its customers when renting, credit card , age etc. When those requirements are met the process is smooth and efficient. So my family went through a major incident and called hertz Saturday for pickup. After calling for almost 2 hours today because they never came by, I get hung up on. Why is that? because the person no the phone saturday provided different information than the person did today. So HERTZ hung up, the phone. I will be escalating this all the way up the chain. I use to go to Hertz for all my rental needs. I went to rent a car and I was told I couldn't just come in and rent a car on the same day that I had to wait till next day we'll I didn't need it the next day but they charge me anyway. I also rented online for an event that was canceled when I went to cancel they wanted to charge me $50. I will not be going there anymore the Hertz I'm talking about is in Reading Lancaster Ave but let me tell u they have new people working there because this didn't happen when the old people was working there I'm a gold card member and been working with them for years and now there customer service sucks. read more

I've heard horror stories about car rental businesses. Apparently the follow-through on reservations is rather unpredictable. You can make a car reservation days in advance, but when you come in, the parking lot might be emptier than the recesses of Justin Bieber's brain. Well, I'm happy to report that those horror stories do not apply to this Hertz location. I've rented from here nearly ten times, and the place is well-run and reliable. I book online in advance, and there's always a car waiting for me that's in great condition and a pleasure to drive. The staff also are very courteous, and they've been rather patient with me on several occasions. It's a pleasure to rent from them, and I highly recommend this location to anyone who needs a set of wheels. A little heads-up for anyone renting a car for the first time: be aware that the online reservation forms are only a "rough draft" of what you'll get when you come in. For example, you might reserve a Ford Focus but end up with a similar Toyota because of what they have available that day. This is unavoidable at ANY car rental business... so don't get your heart set on that Ford or Chrysler, you American-made fanboy! ;-) And please do not pay for an added GPS on the Hertz website because the GPS devices are locked into specific cars, so it will be totally random whether you get one or not. I rented from this place various times, there is a female employee that is beyond rude. She over explains and expects people to understand. She does not listen at all. I had the worst experience the last time. I came in the day before and spoke to a nice gentle men he was professional quick and efficient, my card wouldn't go through so i had to come back the next day. He wasn't available the next, so i had this lady and i told her what happened and why we had to switch rentals. She did not listen at all and kept focusing on the reservation that was there prior and i had to keep repeating yes i know but that car is not available so we wanted the Kia Soul. She got frustrated and said they didn't have it. We finally settled for another Kia and I specifically told her not to run my card without telling me because i have to transfer the funds and it she does it prior and it declined my bank will lock the card. After she puts in her info she reaches in a drawer full of car keys and mentions the Kia Soul after she said it wasn't there and the. Ran my card with mount telling me and says it declined. I told her why if i told u to tell me before running it. So now i have to sit in the location i call my bank so they can unlock it. I spent nearly 2 hours to rent a car. So we called before the due date to get an extension. She answers the phone, at first my boyfriend is on the phone with her and he asked her about three times how much would it be if we extend it. She kept answering in totals and saying they won't charge it's 2.98 and that's it. So he says okay so your charging five dollars more? And she goes to repeat and says no they will charge 2.99 my boyfriend goes okay so u are going to charge? I take the phone and say how much is it per day? She says it's not because you rented for a week. I said okay but we want to extend a other day. How much would it be. She again says they won't charge because it's not authorized. I said okay so will it stay 325 plus the 200 deposit in total 525? She says no it will go up to 535. I said okay will that be taken out my deposit or will you charge that 10$ in another transaction. She says no because it's not authorized. I said what can i please talk to someone else, I'm not understanding you. And your not answering my questions. She says no everyone else is busy. I asked her three times to please let speak to someone else because your telling me i won't get charged but you keep telling me these totals. She said no and we are closing anyways. This place is great. Specifically the Branch Manager Julia Macdonald. We were passing through Reading and realized we had a nail in our tire. Being that we rented from Dollar and they are merging with Hertz, we found the nearest rental facility which happened to be this Hertz. Unfortunately they weren't able to access our account as the computer systems between companies are not yet compatible. However, Julia still wanted to help us out and she went ahead and send us a couple blocks down the road to the dealership shop that fixes tires for them. She took care of everything, we just had to give them her business card and that was it. A short while later we were back on the road. It's so nice to encounter truly helpful people in the service industry. So many times you hear horror stories of unhelpful, un friendly folks. In this case we lucked out and got Julia. Hertz take notice...Julia is one of your superstars! read more

A total nightmare from beginning to end. We needed a rental for when our car was being repaired. The manager told me they would put a $50 hold on our card but instead they put a $127 hold on it. I called the store and talked to the manager about why we were charged more. After talking to me for a few minutes she told me she had to go because she had a lobby full of people. Why even answer the phone if you are too busy to talk to me? We finally returned the car 6 days after picking it up and were charged for 9. I'm sure we will never get a refund. The staff is totally incompetent. read more

Be careful not to be mislead. I asked for an extension on my rental because my car had be totaled and i hadn't found a car. I was told by an employee that my rental would be fully covered by the insurance company that was representing me. All well and good. I returned my car and the same employee said something had gone wrong and the insurance agency never answered the request for an extension, when in fact they did answer and said it was denied. If i was told that at the time then I would have returned the car right then, but the employee completely mislead me, if not lied to me, and now a month later I have been charged $164.95 when my cost should be NOTHING. I called and spoke to the manager and she was very nice, but apparently she could do NOTHING(which is ridiculous if you ask me) about this problem. I am very disappointed and outraged. I am considering legal action. BE CAREFUL. DO NOT TRUST THEM. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE EVERYTHING IN WRITING. read more
