I wanted to use my AAA discount and he wouldn't even discuss it. He rolled his eyes and kept saying "I have other customers". Again, I was the only person in line. I left his station, and went to National Car Rental, who was wonderful and helped me with a rental from Alamo, that saved me money. The BEST car rental service and experience I have ever experienced. I travel often for work and leisure. From check in to check out it was seamless and easy. I have never rented an EV car and misunderstood the meter, they helped me adjust my rate. Kaiden checked me out when I returned my car and I explained why my pre fuel was taken off and needed to be added back on and he accommodated. Hats off to Hertz. I have called customer service and chat on Messenger and they keep telling me to give them 24-48 hours for them to close it. Yet, they keep charging my card $100 per day. Worst car rental experience, this was my first time using hertz but I started because I can book through my chase travel card. They didn't have the car class I reserved, but no big deal, I got the rental, they don't check anything with you damage, fuel ect. Upon returning the car, they were busy I had arrived before time I was due in. And I filled up the car just down the road, so I was early and returned with a full tank. Once I entered the shuttle it was not more than ten minutes before we reached the Hertz location. Since I am a Gold partner, I usually find my car in the Five Star section of the lot where I can choose any car. They had plenty of cars to choose from which was good. When I returned the car, it seem a bit confusing. I had to navigate a bit to find exactly where I needed to return the car. I had left glasses in the car unfortunately and I called once I entered the airport. They did to find them for me. It seemed the car was already rented and out of the lot which I found surprising. I am shocked with hertz. They claim to be the number 1 car rental company and they do not guarantee thier cars are reliable. I am in the middle of a rental, the car I have from hertz broke and I do not feel comfortable taking it to airport. I asked them to come get it and provide me a new car. Thier customer service at road side assistance said I have to call a tow truck company and tow it to airport myself. They offered to send a tow truck but said I have to pay the tow and then ride in the tow truck to the airport to get a new rental car. On 7/23 I went to the Hertz rental car desk. to get my car. Although the agent acknowledged my reservation and the prepayment. It has since been determined. Though it was near midnight (and the location closes at 1am) there were still quite a few of us in line. It took nearly one hour to complete my long-term swap (if you have a rental for more than a month they may make you swap a vehicle so they can get its oil changed, etc, unless you want to get it done and be reimbursed) when it should have probably taken 15 minutes, but I blame the manager who was more concerned with getting the cars ready for rental in the morning instead of clearing out the queue of customers waiting. read more

Worst car rental ever. Car broke down, overheated , wife had to wait an hour for a tow truck then got another call to wait another hour and a half in the rain. She decided she didn't want another car so they made her pay for gas at their rates even though she couldn't fill up the tank because the car was overheated. The help lines were of no use and said that because we prepaid there was nothing they could do. I arrived at your Erlanger HLE office around 9:30am to pick up my car to find that your office had a sign in the window "Temporary Closed until 12p." UNACCEPTABLE Called customer service with no answers or apologies for this closure after receiving a confirmation. They continue to make a new reservation, K4914971329 at your Cincinnati Elm Street location only to find the same closed sign on their door!! What if I had a flight to catch? What about the person that had to travel to 2 locations for me to find no customer service, answers for the closures or help to accommodate this inconvenience!! I found out that the same notices were put up in the Ohio locations state wide!! What is wrong with Hertz treating people this way. There were several other people at these same locations that will be contacting Hertz, YELP and BBB . You will be rated as low as it goes. The woman who works the desk exemplifies everything that is wrong with Hertz. Rude, unhelpful, you ask a question and she shruggs her shoulders and says I don't know. Thats her only answer, I dont know what to tell you. If you call Hertz, plan on a 30 minute hold time, and then not getting an answer. If you are a Gold member, its hit or miss if your name is on the board. You never know if your car has a GPS or a blue tooth. Its hit or miss. Then try to ask a question, either from on site personnel or on the phone, and its hopless. This poor customer services has been imbedded in Hertz for years. An early flight brought me and my son to the airport at 4:30 a.m. Just as I dropped the car off, I saw the Hertz bus depart. An employee of Hertz saw me and my son in his stroller outside. Worried about the effect 36 degree weather would have on him, she quickly loaded us, our luggage, and his stroller into her car, and whisked us to the airport. That goes beyond customer service. Hertz here is quick, fast, friendly, and efficient. I dropped my car off here and I was attended to immediately. The guy helping me out looked around the car, looked at the gas meter, and gave me my receipt. With that, I was on my way to the airport. Right when I was given my receipt, the airport shuttle pulled up -- perfect! The bus driver told me that the shuttles come by every 3 minutes. So, no need to worry if you miss your shuttle...another will come in 3 minutes! The shuttle drops you off at the rental car bus stop. From here you have to go through some double doors, a corridor, go through baggage claims, and up some escalators to the departures area. The walk is not bad (maybe about 5-10 minutes, depending on how fast you walk) but the rental car drop off is not close to airline kiosks/security check points. After walking through the beautiful Cincinnati airport, we waited 10-12 minutes for the Hertz Shuttle -- 1st in line to pick up the previously reserved vehicle and waited 15 minutes due to "slow computer" and then were the 3rd car in line to exit - but spent another 25-30 minutes in line to exit Hertz -- they gave no explanation until after many cars honked and some renters got out of their cars to demand explanations - The answer was "system" failure w/o which they could not scan the car -- final step before leaving. Eventually there were 3 staffers at the gate -- shrugging there was nothing that could be done. Many suggested writing down (the old fashioned way) the details - to no avail. I tried calling "corporate" HQ - but was hung up on by the only "person" I could reach. System failures happen - but excellent management w/ an eye for customer service would have been both apologetic and over-communicative to those waiting in line. By the time we pulled through there were more than 15 cars in line behind us still waiting. read more

ABYSMAL. I even have gold preferred membership with them and I will likely never rent from this location again. Two things. 1. We rented a car seat over the phone. When I got to the location, the car seat was not only not ready, but then they even tried to challenge that I had rented it! All said, we finally got it taken care of after 15 minutes of back and forth. 2. Fuel pre paid. They charged me AGAINST my wishes. Yes, when I returned it, and the receipt machine wasn't working, I got my email receipt and see a $55 charge. Then, when I called Hertz service, my friend ETHAN at the fuel dispute desk (notice they have a dispute desk for this issue!) told me I have to prove I actually filled it up. The car was checked in FULL, but he claims that happens anytime you have the pre paid option. I asked 3 people about the fuel gauge on the car.... all 3 said " that is full" on this model of car... yet it filled it up, prior to return and they marked my car 6/8 full and charged me $41 and change....which i didnt notice until i got on my flight home. I'm not able to provide more stars. Last night/this morning, a late arriving flight was delayed until 12:55am. AVIS didn't answer phones when attempts were made prior to 1am to contact them and inform them of issues. Would've have contacted earlier if not being stuck on tarmac due to snowstorm in Denver, but they didn't close until 1am and their website while reserving vehicle asked for flight info which o provided. There were three other groups attempting to contact them, none had any success. Families with four children, three children and two children were left stranded at the airport. The family of six decided to take a chance on another rental company that waited on their decision. I decided to go with that company as well. Corporate didn't care either when called. Don't use this company. I don't say that lightly, could care less about myself. It was watching parents trying to figure out how to put six-eight bags of luggage in a taxi cab. Here is where Hertz stepped up. The shuttle driver noticed people were stranded. Answered questions, asked if we would like to go back to Hertz to rent a car. He waited until the parties decided. Called Hertz customer service and they were useless and called the location manager who said he would look into it once the vehicle was back as apparently they had already rented it out again in that condition. We rented a car at the Cincinnati airport 5/06/15. she was incredibly slow and further slowed the process with continuously up-selling. after a considerable delay standing on the curb, the car was brought to us completely wet. the gentleman who delivered the car stated this is common practice. upon drying, the car windows were obscured by streaks at water marks. the service we received today was incredibly poor. ** thank you for the response- Hertz Social Media. Not sure why there are so many poor reviews for this location. I just wanted to write about one of the managers here who went above and beyond to help me settle my reservation. Check in was seamless as is always with the Gold status. My SUV was waiting for me and was clean. It was only when I left the lot and looked at my receipt that I noticed my CDP (promo code) was incorrectly applied. I was in a rush so I figured I would just take care of it when I returned the car. The young lady at the counter told me that it was too late to make any changes even though she did agree with me that the receipt was incorrect and it was Hertz's fault. After a few minutes of complaining she called a manager in. He quickly and politely handled the transaction change and even removed my charge for an extra day since I was a few hours late returning the car. Definitely a deciding factor in my decision to continue renting with Hertz. I didn't catch his name, but he should be training all of his staff in the ways of customer service. read more

We had reserved a car and went to pick it up no car was available. I think I was living a Sienfeld episode. It took us 15 to 20 minutes standing at the counter with a lady who, in my opinion, clearly needs some basic training at her job. After we were finally assigned a car we have to wait outside for them to take it from the return line, to the gas fill, to the car wash. Beware of additional charges. I booked this car rental through Expedia and thought that everything had been taken care of. When they swiped my card I was told that the pending charges would be cleared when turning the car in. However, here I am with $200 worth of additional services I didn't want or use. All I am told is that these are valid charges that I authorized when I swiped my card. Check out took about 90 minutes even though there was only one person in front of me when I arrived. Check in was very fast. I pulled the car on the lot and was told everything was good to go. The airport shuttle apparently runs every 5 minutes. I was definitely charged for using it although I never set foot in the thing. So the only honest thing I can say about it, is that it isn't worth the money. Overall, there are more affordable options out there that I would recommend over this place. I regret my decision to use them. read more

I thought President's Circle had some type of prestigious service associated with it. I guess not. Had brake issues on my rental and had to exchange it. Was told by Roadside Assistance that there would be no charge for fuel and it was just an exchange due to mechanical issues. We'll, the person at the Hertz desk at CVG had no idea what was going on, charged me for fuel and didn't even take the tracking number that Roadside Assistance gave me. I've never in my life been talked to in the manner in which your associate, Philip, at the Sharonville Ohio location talked to me this morning. You don't work in a customer service field and say "I see the weekend didn't take away any of your venom" to your customer no matter how upset they are. Being talked to in that manner was uncalled for and VERY unprofessional! After I was spoke to in this manner I asked to speak to a supervisor at which time I was told he was the supervisor when I asked for his manager I was told he wasn't there. I then asked for a regional manager name and phone number he said he wasn't going to give that to me. At this time I informed him I would call the 800 number and obtain a contact, he told me to go ahead and then said, please hold. At this point I had already held for 22 minutes. Then Dominque got on the line and asked me my name ...she already had it from Philip and put me on another 15 minute hold to confirm my reservation. She too would not give me any contact information. Surely you don't want this type of behavior being shown to another upset customer who was just involved in an automobile accident. when empathy and understanding should have shined through your employees! I had a reservation with Avis, your competition. My flight to CVG was delayed, but Avis knows that since they had my flight information when I booked as an Avis First member. I arrived after 2am. I was tired. I just wanted to get my car and go to my hotel. Avis was nowhere to be found. Office was closed. They all went home and left me stranded. Yet there was a hertz bus waiting for just one customer. The driver knew I wasn't a hertz customer yet he was very helpful to contact Avis. That's how I found out that the office was closed. I picked up my rental last night around 10:30. The shuttle driver and the lady who helped me check in were both very friendly and helpful. It was late and I've been flying all day so I didn't realize that I needed a car with gps. I called this morning and the lady named Judy was not helpful. She said she was with a customer and placed me on hold for 20 minutes!! I hung up and called back and Judy said "I'm still with customer, sorry I'll get back to you later or when I'm done." I totally understand you get busy, but what happened to customer service? They need to learn how to multi task or hire more people with better attitudes.
