Can you give zero stars? I went in to add my spouse as an additional driver, which is normally free. We go through the whole information gathering process, my spouse signs. Then, right as I'm about to sign, the branch manager slides a receipt over saying that it will cost $77. I say no, thanks, it's not worth it. He says that he can't reverse it, even though I declined via the card reader, and I spent an hour on the phone with customer service. I will definitely never go to this location again! read more

I rent cars quite often and was at the airport rental till 1am trying to rent a car before ubering home. But luckily was able to get a car here and these guys did everything for me, Julian and the detailing crew there pretty much saved my life when I left my wallet in the car. They do get busy but they care. So put yourself in their shoes and be patient. Great service. read more

This is a place where they scam you I had a rental gotten to me by the insurance company and when I showed up they told me about insurance and I didn't know how long I'd have to drive the car & I didn't want to pay extra so after she was done telling me about coverages I told her if I had to get it and she told me "no, I never said it was required" but nowhere did it say or did she mention it was optional until I asked and after I asked I told her I didn't want anything she assured me I didn't have to pay nothing but the 100$ deposit but little did I know she but in for the basic coverage and ended up having the car for 19 days which left me with a nice bill of 500$ and when I called to complain the same person said she'd call me because I was right and it didn't look correct and an hour before I close I came in person just for them to tell me I signed a contract so there was nothing to do. read more

I was getting my car fixed at the Covert Caddilac service department. They sent me over to Hertz Rent A Car, this location. Since I have Car Shield, I thought it was to be taken care of with no problem. I never had a problem like this in the past on other repairs, but this time they really put the shaft to me! The dealer kept my car for nearly two weeks, but only paid Hertz for four days. This not only threw a wrench in the works for me since Hertz charged up nearly $400 on my credit card, but now I have to file a reimbursement claim with Car Shield! The dealer had sent me to hertz, even drove me over there, but later said they work with Enterprise Rent-A-Car. I certainly won't be using Hertz Rent A Car anymore, and if I ever go back to that dealership I will ask for a different service person. read more

This place has horrible reviews but that wasn't my experience until the very end when I was charged a $200 "cleaning fee" for a few dog hairs left by my service animal. I took the time to clean it up myself before turning in the vehicle, so I know it wasn't full of hair OR smelled of dog, (I know how to clean up after a rental). Because I did an express return, they could charge me and not have to prove it. I called and they said I have no way to dispute this charge and I'm furious. I rented several times from Hertz located in 911 Anderson line Austin Tx 78752. The service always good, the car ready and clean, never charge my credit card any extra money than paid for the rental, and the deposit always credit back (of course, I always return the car on time, gas full and clean without any scratch or damage. Their charge per day rentals are reasonable and less than any other car rental company. I hope things will stay good as long as I rent. read more

I had a very bad experience at this Hertz. The lady at the counter, not sure what her name is, was very rude. I had booked a car 4pm to 4pm next day. I could not pick up the car on the day I reserved. I went the next day morning, thinking since I reserved it I should still be able to pick up. That lady said she could not find my reservation and since the pick up time was day before she won't be able to give me any car and also she could not allow any cars to be rented as the drop off was in another location. She did not even have the courtesy of trying to find cars in other location or was showing any concern for the inconvenience it had caused. Why do people who can't even bear to smile a little or show any empathy face the customer? If you are great at what you do but couldn't be nice or be helpful to your customers please don't be at a customer facing job. read more

Absolutely horrible customer service and not afraid to cancel on customers. DO NOT USE. My insurance helped me secure a reservation for a rental car at Hertz due to being rear ended in an accident two weeks ago. Once I confirmed the date (today, March 8) and time (4:00pm) to drop off my car at the repair shop, I called this Hertz location last week and spoke with someone on the phone to set up my rental reservation. I confirmed that someone from Hertz could pick me up from the car repair shop and drop me off at Hertz after 4:00pm. Per Hertz's automated text instructions, I also provided them the date and time of when my car repairs would start and when and where I needed to be picked up from. The instructions texted back to me were to call this location on the day of, with a minimum of one hour advanced notice. On the day of my rental reservation, I called this Hertz at 2:50pm and asked to be picked up at 4:30pm, giving Hertz more than one hour advanced notice and myself time to drop off my car at the repair shop by 4:00pm and be walked through the repairs that need to be made. What I proceeded to hear was a conversation with the man who answered and what sounded like his manager in the background telling him "No, you can't pick her up because at 4:30, I need you to take care of these closing duties. We don't have anyone who can pick her up. Tell her we can't pick her up." The man on the phone with me then told me "I'm sorry, but we can't pick you up today because there are no drivers available." I let him know that I had spoken with someone on the phone last week and had confirmed this reservation and pick-up request, in addition to texting all of these details to Hertz. All he said to me in reply was "I'm sorry, we can't do anything for you today." Then I heard the manager say "Tell her if she can be at the shop exactly at 4:00, we'll do it. But that is the last concession I will make for her." Um, excuse me?! Hertz is making a concession for ME when I, the customer, did everything that I was supposed to in order to have this reservation confirmed and a pick-up scheduled?! I am now writing this review as I wait for a friend to pick me up from the repair shop instead and take me to Hertz. (You're welcome, Hertz. You don't have to make any concessions for me.) I am utterly shocked at the rudeness of the employees / manager that I spoke with today. If I figure out their names once I get to Hertz, I will most certainly update this review. When I went to pick up my car, she asked if I wanted to get the liability insurance and I told her I already had it. She then asked about collision insurance and I told her I would use my own. After returning the car and viewing my bill, I saw a $113 charge. I called and asked what it was for and she said liability insurance. I explained that I had paid in advance for that. She told me you signed agreeing to it so. I went completely off on her. When I asked for a manager. . . Of course she was the manager. I asked for a phone number to contact someone else. On rental day they not only didn't have the car I requested but- they didn't have a single car left on the lot. -I didn't get any notice: no phone call or email or text, and by the time I had gotten there all the other car rentals had sold out as well. It doesn't matter how far out you reserve a vehicle. It doesn't matter if you prepay on Hertz's website. They probably don't have your vehicle and they really don't care. I don't know why this location is even open to the public. As far as I can tell, all their trucks and vans are rented to supplement commercial delivery fleets. I booked a van about a week in advance. I was given less than 24 hours notice that they were cancelling. I checked and my reservation is still active in their system. I can't cancel it without agreeing to pay for the full reservation. Will be curious to see if they try to charge me as a no show for the van they don't have. TL;DR They won't have the car you booked. Go to Budget in The Crescent. There's a serious lack of communication through the booking process. I would not recommend this company or any of its subsidiaries... Like Budget. I will say the vehicle I rented was there when I arrived to pick up and worked which is the reason this is 2 stars instead of 1. 1. I booked a car seat and called the day before to make sure it was available. At that point I was told car seats are only available at the airport location! I wasn't going to the airport! Why isn't this something hertz does on their end to make sure people who rent one can have one without going 30 minutes out of the way? 2. The Hertz website states that AAA members don't have to pay the extra authorized driver fee. It does not state the booking has to be done through AAA. I found this out too late to make the booking change. Neither Hertz nor AAA could provide any assistance. So I ended up paying a lot more than anticipated. Why couldn't this just be made clear? I feel scammed. 3. The car had trash in it when picked up despite the many signs stating that a $300 cleaning fee would be assessed if I brought it back dirty. 4. The car was in need of maintenance and would ding every time it was turned on or off. Minor annoyance but given the price of renting a vehicle you'd think Hertz would have the money to maintain their fleet. 5. When I returned the vehicle no one asked how the rental went. This is common courtesy. I assume it's because they don't want the answer. 6. The Hertz review site doesn't allow you to leave them a long review to let them know about your problems. Got a text at 5 in the morning to let me know they overbooked and would not have a car for me. I called the main number to get a car at different location. I was assured it would be available at the location on IH-35. When I showed up, I was told they didn't have one and that I should not call the main number. I rented a car online for a week. It was a prepaid reservation made through Hertz' website. Everything about the experience was awful except for the politeness of the poor people working behind the counter. When we went to pick it up, we encountered multiple problems related to "company policies", the inability of the online customer service people to correctly fix a problem, and. the lack of power granted to the counter employees to fix problems. Bottom line: We couldn't get our car. So we had to drive our unreliable car for our trip, which did okay, fortunately. I really appreciate the customer service at this Hertz and I will keep coming back. Both times I've rented I had a small issue. Very small but they took care care me like as if I was important. I like taking the van down to our beach house because it always seems like I have a piece of furniture to bring with me. Like my wicker sofa I brought last time. This time I brought a red recliner. Horrible place & never again renting a vehicle from Hertz!! The day I picked up the vehicle it was 30° and the people inside refused to open the door because they had another client inside. It was about 12 minutes before their opening hour. Never said I had to clean the vehicle and charged a $100 fee for cleaning it (needless to say the vehicle was not dirty) we could not clean it any more because the winter storm hit that week in TX and there was no power or water. Of course there was no gas either and they charge $160 to refill the gas tank. It was 3/4 full when I returned it. Don't chance it, they will reap you off in a heartbeat!! read more

Horrible front desk customer experience. My partner was trying to rent a car out of pocket that insurance is reimbursing for. The guy at the front desk mumbled inaudibly throughout the interaction and refused to allow my partner to rent a car. He mumbled something about insurance needing to send a reservation. So we left, called the insurance company who called and talked to the same guy and finally figured out that hertz has some specific phone number they want you to go through if insurance reimbursement is involved. The insurance rep also commented on how the guy mumbled and seemed to not want to do his job. He's working the front desk on Monday June 7th 2021 at 8am. Fire him. This is actually a negative 5 star review. I used to book with Hertz a lot. I always felt that they had a high standard in terms of vehicles and service. That feeling has passed. My partner and I rented a car online because ours had been towed to the shop for failure to start. When we went to pick up the car, a staff member looked at our printed order then rudely shoved it back towards us stating they had no cars. Like it was our fault that we had gotten an order through. I mean he was the worst. Wouldn't look us in the eye, wouldn't help us try to book another car, or even give us a clue on how to proceed. At minimum, he should have fully canceled the order from their system. Unfortunately, he was too busy being belligerent. We asked to speak to a manager but no one ever came out. Then they actually charged us a no show fee. Unbelievable. Other people literally there waiting for cars also spoke about the level of poor service they received at this location. Hertz has had its challenges almost going bankrupt. I don't think things are going any better. read more

Pros: --Free pickup/drop-off if you live within 15 minutes --honors AAA member discount ...... that's about it. Cons: --HOLY SLOW. --Car was pretty dinged up --Doesn't honor other Hertz deals/coupons --Seriously so slow. It took me 40 minutes to pick up (even though I had an appointment) and 30 minutes to drop-off. As far as "neighborhood" rental agencies, Avis in Hancock Center (41st and I-35) is the way to go. Every car they gave me was dirty and had mechanical issues I still have not received my deposit back after 6 months and I have video footage of how I received the car and how I returned the car they also tried to get me arrested for theft but I had a copy of the receipt that showed the payment and how long the rental period was and I wasn't the only one when I came to return the second vehicle they gave me it was 2 people in there because they had almost been arrested for theft of a vehicle I thought it was crazy little did I know I would be experiencing the same issue read more

I made a mistake and booked my reservation at the W. Anderson Ln location in Austin, TX instead of the airport. I spoke with Trenton in the office and then with William the district manager and they were incredibly understanding and helpful. They were able to fix my reservation so I could return the car at the airport. The car was fantastic for me and my family. I would highly recommend this location!! read more

I use rental cars all of the time. This is my first time renting from Hertz, and my last! Worst rental experience ever! (That's saying something). I had to go out of town and our vehicle was in the shop. I sent my partner to get a rental. The salesman used misleading language, told her the wrong return time, told her the tank was full when it was not, and lied to her about how much the insurance would cost. When asked to address these issues, he wouldn't speak to me, but a girl at the counter told me that I should call a 1800 to talk to someone else because they had no authority to correct anything, even if we had been lied to. My partner chose this company because they claimed to be less expensive than the $24.99 rentals I usually book. Our 4 days cost us just under $400. NEVER AGAIN. read more

So sorry, hate to leave bad stars. But this office is such a No Go. I got a call while driving in to pick up my car (9a.m. on Saturday, I'm supposed to leave on a trip at 11:30)... "Sorry, we have no cars left." "But I have a reservation!" "Yes, I'm sorry, no cars left. Nothing we can do! Good luck." So i'm stuck with my aged pick-up truck for a drive through long stretches of deserted Texas highway? Seems like some planning wasn't in place, friends. I'm a little confused re: what exactly is it you do, if it's not your job to make sure the cars you need are on location to be rented? What exactly does a reservation mean, in Hertz-speak? Though this royal mess is taking place for many customers, the manager Jon is not present ("I think he's supposed to be back around 10:30?" says the man behind the desk) and has left this poor entry-level new guy here at the front to... give condolences to customers and take their ranting and crap for ruining their carefully laid plans? Where's the guy who could actually do something, make a difference, facilitate changes, help to find other cars for people who need them? Nobody can say where he's gone, nobody can say when he's coming back. I was on the phone and in this store that morning for literally an hour and a half. Between call centers in South Asia where people could not understand the issue, locate another car in my city, or understand my words (and finally rerouted my call to the very office that couldn't help here in Austin) -- and this brick-and-mortar office, where people had no meaningful solutions for the problem (or any sense that it was their issue that they promised a car they could not deliver)... not clear what is meant by the term customer service? Finally, man behind the counter says, "They do have cars in Round Rock, why not go there, if you have a car." (could he have told me this on the phone?) So, I drove 15 miles, far away from the home of my friend who was supposed to pick me up and drop me off. West Anderson Lane gave me a great rate, worked with my USAA account -- BUT -- no car to be rented. So I'd love to give more stars, but there's just no way. Such bad planning, such bad and late-in-the-game communication, no effort to cooperate between stores, and no sense that a reservation means anything at all. I used to rent so often from Hertz that I have a Gold membership. I don't think I'll be needing that card again anytime soon. read more

So I actually called and spoke to the manager about my experience here and he was super nice about it -- so that's why there are two stars instead of one. After my initial conversation with Blake on ACL weekend, I was SO enraged, that I called headquarters. HQ told me to take it up with the manager... and then proceeded to give me the wrong manager name. So you can see the disorganization goes all the way up the ladder. My conversation with Blake was catalyzed by a courtesy call I made to confirm reservation and time of pickup. Blake then let me know that they were "super busy" that weekend and I was under no circumstances guaranteed a car DESPITE the fact that I'd made an online reso with AAA. "Better not be late -- you may not have a car. I'd suggest you get here as soon as possible. We can't guarantee anything." Please Hertz, tell me what the damn point of making a reservation is if you're not going to guarantee me a car? "Oh you took the time to choose us? That's nice. We have no vehicle." Don't even get me started on the lack of personal responsibility in the world today. This review would definitely hit word count. The whole affair was incredibly disappointing and even though I think I got a relatively good deal, let's not forget that they actually "authorize" money on your account beforehand (so you're out $150... not $50), that if you use a debit they do a "soft credit check," that you best not go ONE hour over the allotted time for your return and that you may or may not get a vehicle. read more
