On 2/28/24 or area was the recipient of severe storms with embedded heavy hail and high winds. Just east of us a tornado touched down in mostly open farmland and did extensive damage. The roof Ron's Roofing installed on our home went through the storm unscathed according to the inspector who was here today. Neighbors who had roofs installed after ours have to have new roofs installed subsequent to this storm. We would recommend Ron's Roofing to anyone who asks for a recommendation.

When presenting what the company was offering, the salesperson showed gutters with included leaf guards. She never indicated that these were a separate purchase, leading us to believe they were included in the purchase. After installation, we found out the leaf guards were not installed and were told they were not included in the contract. When questioned about the misrepresentation in the sales presentation, we were offered a 30% discount if we wanted the leaf guards installed - an additional cost of $1,300. Feeling that the misrepresentation by the salesperson - whether unintentional or not - should have been covered by the company and not merely discounted by them, we cannot in good conscience fully recommend White Pine Renovation.

They came to the house and worked with me to get the roof done right away . In the end they were able to do the whole roof including replacing some boards as well . They were so easy and great to work with. I got a fantastic price and so I hired them to do the job. I have never regretted hiring them to do the job and they also took the time to completely replace all the gutters too. I recently was told by another company that I was in need of a new roof and probably some boards too. The guy said that I had black mold in my attic as well. The guy was from Top Home Improvements. I had went to the Senior Expo a couple of weeks ago and they had a both there so I signed up to get a quote and roof inspection. I would never ever use that company to do anything on my house ever! The guy outright lied to me and the pictures he said that he showed me indicating that I definitely needed to get my roof replaced and have some other repairs too. In the end I showed everything to the guy from Lysters and he pointed out to me that the first pictures he had taken were of my house but the pictures he showed me of what was supposedly my with damaged shingles and supposedly some soft spots in the roof. Indicating that I also needed some boards replaced too. In the end the guy from Lysters went up on my roof and looked it completely over then said to me your roof is in great shape and he also told me that if I had a leak in the roof causing black mold to grow in there then the water leak would also have gone down to the main level of the house and I would have water spots showing up. I have no water spots anywhere in the upstairs of my home. Once again just proving that I was actually lied to. The great news was I not only didn't need a new roof at all and the one I have now is going to be fine for at least another 10 to probably 15 years. I felt so relieved because the quote from Top Home Improvement was for just under $35,000.00 ! I can assure you that if I ever need work done on my home I will never call anyone but Lyster's to do the job. As for Top Home Improvement I would never use them for any job. I'm just so angry that they outright lied to me and almost cost me a substantial amount of money that was never necessary to spend whatsoever. I guess I would say buyer beware of who you call to do important work on your home. By not getting a second opinion I would have spent a huge amount of money that wasn't really necessary at all. I have also learned that from now on before I hire any company to do work on my home I'll definitely be checking with the Better Business Bureau too. They collect information about all kinds of companies and post the reviews of what other people have had to say about the company.

After talking to several companies and reviewing proposals, I chose Smart Roofing Systems. Smart has done many homes in my neighborhood and everyone had good things to say about them. My experience was no exception. One difference I noticed about Smart vs. other companies is that instead of having a huge dumpster placed in your driveway, they used an open trailer on wheels allowing for easy removal of the debris each day. I also liked the fact that this left no marks on the asphalt driveway like some heavy dumpster can do. The crews put in extremely long days and did an amazing clean up. When you tear down a roof, shingles, nails, etc. go everywhere. The job site remained neat and the daily and final clean up was superb. Smart was extremely easy to do business with. Great, responsive communications and follow up. I tend to ask a lot of questions especially given the costs involved. Never was I left hanging. I highly recommend Smart Roofing Systems.

I spoke in the Yelp chat with questions to the owner Richard Paige in Rockford, MI., who certainly knew all the questions he answered without hesitation and it revealed his knowledge of all the aspects we needed to know! A week ago our new premium was due and having our initial roof replaced today, we were able to obtain a credit of $617! Ask your agent about this because it was apparent our roof was old enough that it was raising the cost of our annual premium! We never knew that, but we must also honestly inform all homeowners that insurance companies are very concerned about possible claims because of aging roofs, which seemed fairly obvious, but it "woke us up" when faced with a 50% increase in the past 2 years? Instead of taking responsibility, they attempted to blame me for their improper installation. They were also not upfront about the total cost until after the old roof had already been removed. Additionally, no waivers or disclosures regarding the installation were ever presented or signed. Overall, this was a very disappointing experience. I would not recommend this company and believe you would be better off hiring a smaller contractor who provides better workmanship at a fraction of the cost. I also have numerous photos available for anyone who would like to review them before hiring this company.
