4.5 stars. HerScan provides breast ultrasound screenings directly to consumers. Their sonographers travel around the country to perform breast ultrasounds, and then radiologists read the images. I have dense tissue that can obscure growths in mammograms, so I felt interested in doing this ultrasound. In early January I scheduled an appointment for one of their sonographers to do an ultrasound for me in March. The exact location was communicated to me later, and it was a hotel's meeting room. The cost would be about $300, which I would pay with an HSA, credit, or debit card at the time of service. On the day of my appointment, HerScan emailed me four forms for me to complete online. When I arrived at the hotel's meeting room, the sonographer started the appointment on time. She had experience working in hospitals, and she interacted very nicely and professionally with me. I am a Registered Nurse, and from what I know, she seemed to perform the ultrasound correctly. Eight days later, HerScan emailed the results to me. The results said that I was Category 4, the highest category, because they found abnormalities of cysts and a lymph node without a fatty hilum. They recommended a follow-up mammogram, ultrasound, and biopsy. the results did say, "In most cases, follow-up imaging does not result in a cancer diagnosis." I shared these results with my OBGYN provider, and she told me to schedule the diagnostic mammogram and ultrasound. I asked HerScan to electronically send the images to my chosen imaging facility, and they promptly did so through PowerShare software. Almost two months later, my chosen sonographer and radiologist did my diagnostic mammogram and ultrasound. The radiologist said that I have many cysts and slightly enlarged lymph nodes (NOT without a fatty hilum) that are likely benign and that I should return for another ultrasound in six months. I wish I never fell for the SCAM. The technician was kind and chatty, up until she started recording her findings through the scan. She stated she was not allowed to tell me anything, but her facial expression and manners changed. So I got really worried. When I received the report - which is supposed to be written by a certified radiologist, it simply said that the findings were 'probably' nothing but to do more imaging. Which left me with worries and not sure what to do. What is the point of having a professional give you a diagnosis that sounds bogus and unclear? Same story as many others. Given level 4 for a 1cm mass and also a cyst. I wanted to work with a functional Dr so waited almost 2 months to follow up on my results. Was so stressed about the mass and feared the worse. Did a mammogram yesterday and another ultrasound. There was no mass, just breast tissue. The place I went to said they see a lot of women who have to follow up after going to HerScan. They said they see a lot of bad diagnosis's. There was no point in paying $325 to avoid a mammogram just to get one anyways along with a 2nd ultrasound. The tech didn't know why they thought it was a mass. She showed me it was just tissue. So much stress and anxiety from this. Never again and not worth it. read more

I really wanted to trust HerScan, but honestly, I regret doing it. The tech who did my scan was so kind and professional -- she did her job perfectly. But the results were confusing and didn't help me at all. I paid out of pocket thinking I'd get some real answers or peace of mind, but instead I walked away more frustrated. I should've just used that money toward seeing a real doctor. Now that I'm losing my insurance in a couple weeks, this just feels like such a waste. We all make choices, and I know this one was on me, but I can't help feeling like I got played. Horrific , disorganized scam of a company. Just spent the last week thinking I might have cancer after a very disorganized and rude technician rated my scan as a level 4. She stated in the report that I was having pain in my right side when I told her it was the left. The report was inaccurate and the pictures blurry and impossible to import to a shareable file. When going for the expensive follow up tests suggested by Herscans alarming level 4 rating I was told that this company has a reputation for sending most everyone for a follow up test rendering their testing absolutely useless and a waste of money. As a result of this I was a mental wreck playing every scenario known to man in my head for absolutely no reason. My tests were normal. The trauma alone that they put me though was enough to give them zero stars! Save your money and go get a real mammogram for peace of mind. read more

I made an appointment months in advance, took a day off of work, only to receive an email the morning of my appointment letting me know my appointment was canceled. Due to an "illness" of the technician. I don't know how a business of this type only has one technician available. Very frustrating. And a complete waste of time. read more

The staff and experience itself were fine; however, as I read on multiple reviews prior to my scan which I didn't read until I had booked my appointment, the results are not helpful at all and many women are apparently told that the results are inconclusive and they should see their doctor. i went and got an ultrasound only to get an email saying "category 4" , which is the worst and follow up wiht your DR. Eversince I have been trying to get the images to my dr. the link is too big for my chart. they only take fax. i have been calling back and forth between her scan and the dr and its a nightmare. the lady told me i was being "rude", not her for being impatient and bothered when they have completely freaked me out and ive been trying for days to get these results to be sharebale. My friend and I saw the ad on FB and thought we would make an appointment. Both of us have dense breasts. We had it done at a hotel in Stockton for 325.00 Thursday January 22nd, We both received and email on Tuesday the 27th with Category 4 results and saying we needed to follow up. So for the past two weeks, we have been under stress. I thought it was strange we both would get a Category 4. then after the fact I went on to the BBB and YELP and found a lot of woman are saying the same thing. My radiologist thought it was just odd. I had an extremely distressing experience I feel obligated to share. After undergoing a routine breast ultrasound with HERSCAN, I received a report stating that I had a Category 4 possible malignant mass. As you can imagine, this news was devastating. I then showed the film to a close friend who is a radiologist, he was very concerned and said I needed a biopsy. However, after seeking a second opinion and further diagnostic testing at one of the top breast cancer centers in the country, it was confirmed that the mass was not malignant. In fact there was NO mass at all. The initial report from HER SCAN was completely incorrect and caused an unnecessary amount of emotional trauma, stress, and disruption to my life. I wonder if those were even my breasts on the HERSCAN film. A mistake of this magnitude is not only unacceptable -- it is dangerous. This level of carelessness in interpreting and reporting medical results, especially those as serious as cancer, can lead to lasting psychological harm and potentially inappropriate treatments. I strongly advise anyone considering HER SCAN to be extremely cautious. Accuracy in diagnostics is not optional. This experience has left me shaken and distrustful, and I hope no one else has to go through what I did. And I also worry about the women who get a clean scan from them, its a false sense of security. read more

This place is a scam -- I truly believe they have to identify each individual as either category 3 or 4 to cover their own butts, thereby prompting said individual to worry and spend even more time and money going to an actual legit breast center for diagnostic testing (not screening) just to be told there is nothing there. Further, the customer service/processing team is abysmal -- condescending, short and snippy when asked for report and scans to be sent to doctor. You would think they would hire individuals capable of being empathetic to someone that just received a category 3 or 4 result! Unbelievable! If there is a possibility to give zero stars, HerScan should have 0 I am in my mid40's with dense breast tissues. I do mammograms every 1.5 years instead of annual because mammograms are not usually dense breast friendly. My breasts would hurt for days after a mammogram. I saw HerScan on Facebook and Instagram promoting ultrasound for breasts and actually discouraging women to do mammograms. I opened the link and it was SUPER EASY to make an appointment. That was RED FLAG number 1. So I went ahead and booked the appointment despite not having a referral from a doctor, RED FLAG number 2. The appointment said it will be held in a conference room of a hotel in Calabasas. Before the appointment, the email and text messages were nonstop, almost everyday making sure I will make it to my appointment, RED FLAG number 3. The appointment day came and it was in a 3-star hotel in Calabasas. The pop-up place was not well lit and it looked very dingy. It had one table, there were curtains for "privacy", the ultrasound machine as big a a suitcase, RED FLAG 4, and an attendant/sonographer/tech. She helped me with everything from the paperwork, signing of waivers and performing the ultrasound. I took an end of the day of appointment, and she looked tired and overworked. She took the payment of $325z.00. She said it is more exensive in California compared to other states. The lady was actually gentle when doing the ultrasound. I have health anxiety so I tend not to ask techs when they are doing my scans because I don't want to scare myself. I would rather wait for the result. After a week, I got my results in their BLUME portal that you have to download and share your info. The images were so small and I cannot share them to my GYN. The results read "CATEGORY 4: 2.9 CM poorly defined mass 3-4:00 position 2 cm from nipple, with internal vascularization", signed by a radiologist named JEFFREY LIEBERMAN, who was based in Florida. All characteristics of Breast Cancer. My world collapsed . I called my husband and we talked about it and he tried to calm me down. That was a Friday, so I booked an appointment to see my GYN on Monday morning. Monday came and my GYN did a physical breast exam. She told me if it's a 2.9 cm mass (size of a grape or cherry tomato or a quarter) close to the nipple, she should have at least palpate something despite my dense breasts. But she said all she felt was my dense breasts. To be sure, she ordered a 3D TOMOSYNTHESIS MAMMOGRAM with enhance breast cancer detection. She said it is better for women with breast dense and it will pick up abnormal growth and calcification as small as a rice grain. If something was off in the mammogram, she said to do an ultrasound after the results. I didn't mind paying extra for the 3D and EBCD. The earliest appointment was Thursday. The did the mammogram with my anxiety through the roof. I tried to go on with my life but the HerScan results gave me severe anxiety, I was not able to sleep and eat well. I practically lost 5 lbs in a week. Next Friday, my results came. It was not expedited, I did not receive a call because my result was Bi-rads 1. Negative for abnormal growth, breast asymmetry, or calcification. It was compared from my 2021 and 2023 mammogram, there was no change. I was so relieved and I cried and prayed. I don't know how the radiologist read my scans in HerScan but it was definitely a scam! I can't believe I paid $325 to scare myself for 2 weeks. This should be out of business. They were preying for vulnerable women. Please avoid HerScan at all costs!! It is NOT worth it. Go straight to your breast center who has the best technology. read more

I wish I had seen these reviews before using Herscan. Several years ago I had my breast implants removed with a total capsulectomy and lift. I suffered a lot of breast trauma due to the nature of the surgery. About a year later, I noticed a lump in my left breast. Of course, I was concerned and called my surgeon immediately. He sent me in for a mammogram and breast ultrasound. A large lump that I found was thought to be fat nercosis or other scaring from the trauma of the surgery. I was suppose to follow up with another mammogram 4-6 months later, but never did. I should have followed up, but I really dislike the radiation used in mammograms, so I skipped it. That brings us to recently. I seen an ad for Herscan and liked the idea of just getting an ultrasound, so I decided to book it. The booking process was easy enough, I went in the day of my ultrasound and realized it was just a pop up place in a weight loss clinic. Once arriving, they had me scan a QR code and fill out some online paperwork. Once that was done, I was called back to the room. My technician seemed okay, she told me to get undressed from the waist up and lay on the table. There was no privacy, no her stepping out of the room, which I didn't really care, but some may not like this practice. She quickly started scanning. I was trying to look at the screen as it was turned toward her. She told me to lay down, which I already was, I was just kind of stretching to look at the screen. I asked if she could tell things like cysts, etc. She said yes, but she couldn't discuss it. When she got to my left breast I seen a spot on the ultrasound. I also felt a lump as she pressed down with the wand. I asked her what that looked like. She snapped at me and said "Stop asking me questions, I can't tell you anything, you're going to get me fired." This left a bad taste in my mouth as I wasn't asking her for a diagnosis, but when you're already nervous and in a vulnerable position, you want to feel comforted, not scolded. I didn't say anything else to her the rest of my visit. The entire scan took less than 10 minutes, which I knew was rushed. My ultrasound from the hospital took around 30 minutes. I waited 13 days to get my results from Herscan. It was an email prompting me to download the Blume app and look for my results. My results was a level 4 saying I needed to go to my doctor or a breast clinic for a follow up. It was recommended I have another ultrasound with biopsy on the "report." Of course, this scares you. I pulled out my last ultrasound report from an actual hospital and compared them. It looks like my lump was in the same spot, while it did grow, it is most likely the fat nercosis. Since I'm going through menopause, I read it can increase in size because of the loss of estrogen. All in all I wouldn't use herscan again. All it did is scare me and tell me to go somewhere else for an ultrasound and biopsy. I should have just went to my gyno and asked for a ultrasound from him. It wouldn't have costed me $300 and I would have gotten a more clear answer. I also wouldn't have encountered a rude tech. Now I have to make a follow up with my gyno anyway. I scheduled a herscan following a self exam where I thought I felt something and slightly increased breast size. The scan provided information that I presented to my doctor. From there, I had to have a diagnostic mammogram which was compared to my one year-old mammogram screening where I was told there was no changes and also no findings. I presented my ultrasound and demanded further testing, which I did receive an additional ultrasound from my facility. At that time, the technician was able to locate the exact finding as herscan. Again, this was not found on my diagnostic mammogram. In fact that result is typed up as normal. It was determined fibrous tissue or quite possibly a cyst. Currently there is no concern however it is something we are going to watch. I feel like her scan backed up my self exam findings whereas a mammogram did not. read more

Their page posts a lot of images and "reviews" but there are no actual patient reviews on Facebook. I'm sure they turned them off so they wouldn't look like these on yelp/google. My girlfriend had a scan here and it was a great experience. The techs were super friendly, and so were the staff that set up the screening. She got her results back quickly. Luckily it was a 1, so nothing to worry about, but definitely worth the money to get some peace of mind with a breast scan that we didn't have to convince her doctor to write. read more

Had the same thing happen as everyone else with the level 4 read, now I know why their social media comments are off. I got the scan done after seeing an ad on fb. And I figured well I already spend $300 on ultrasounds anyway through my insurance so what does it matter. Sick of being dismissed by my drs all the time. It does run in my family and I did have concerning issues and changes in the last few years, hence why I got the ultrasound. They were great though with a fast turnaround and mailed me the cd, answered emails, the tech was lovely. I got my results in the 10 days they mentioned. The portal was a little weird though to get my results off of. Next up is the results though they marked something as a level 4 for further eval. I saw the scan itself and the spot they were calling out and tbh it did look concerning esp if you look up BC on Google.. don't do that and drive yourselves crazy. My gyno dismissed me as usual being like why do you need a mammo you're too young etc you're crazy the usual. When he read the results though he did end up providing me a script to get a mammogram so at least that helped push things to get me tested. After 2 hrs of mammograms and further ultrasounds through my dr, they were able to look into this spot a little better. Herscan wasn't wrong by highlighting that area though, but marking something as a 4 when it was just dense tissue and a level -1 drove me so nuts thinking I had BC for the last month. The lab tech said she has been seeing a lot of false positives come in from others who have used Herscan and she recommended that requesting a mammo would be better (and it's free) in the future. I saw my mammo results the same day and the quality was so much better so it definitely makes sense to go that route first. read more

I would not recommend this service to women. As a doctor myself, I went ahead and booked an appointment ahead of my mammogram as my family has a history of dense breast tissue. We do not have history of breast cancer on my mother or father's side of the family. I had the scan and results came back a level alarm four on my right and my left breast with masses that said indistinct margins, Doppler flow seen, which basically means that there's blood flow to this tissue. Indistinct margins means that quote unquote the mass could be extending into the rest of the tissue, and then there was shadow behind the mass, which are characteristics in radiology for types of masses. I do perform ultrasounds myself. It was about one week until I got the results, and of course, my world crumbled after I saw this result having a young son and my business. I immediately made an appointment with my OB-GYN, and she did a thorough breast exam and could not palpate or find any masses based on the positioning on the ultrasound. I was scheduled the following week for a mammogram with a reflex limited ultrasound. The mammogram came back 100% normal, and I met with the radiologist who actually in real time ultrasound my breast and could pick out exactly what they were seeing, but it was due to technician error that it read it as a mass, his words. Their technique of the ultrasound with the transducer, they pressed much harder, and he showed me how he could make a mass effect in my breast, and by simply pressing the transducer into my breast more ( did not cause pain), the mass completely disappeared. He said it was 100% technician error, and unfortunately, it caused me undue stress for two weeks. As somebody in the medical field, I would absolutely not recommend this, and I was stupid to think that I could go around the medical field, stick to your regular mammograms and talk to your OB-GYN or your family doctor if you have dense breasts if they could reflex it with an ultrasound at a hospital. read more

Please be cautious if using this service as I previously worked at this establishment. For those using Herscan for the first time, make sure you know the difference between a screening and a diagnostic scan. Since Herscan is a screening, if anything is seen on their scan, they have to recommend that you get a diagnostic scan. Screenings point out abnormalities and diagnostic scans will then diagnose the abnormalities present. I highly recommend getting only diagnostic scans if you have had any breast abnormalities in the past. Know what you're getting before paying! read more

DON"T use HerScan! I received my results from HerScan that stated that I should see a physician or breast center as soon as possible. With my mother, all my aunts, and some cousins having had breast cancer I feared the worst. I immediately contacted one of the top breast surgeons in Houston downtown medical center. Went in for the mammogram my Doctor had ordered. Told them I was scared due to the HerScan ultrasound. Then was told that because of having the HerScan result I could not have a regular screening mammogram but would have to have a diagnostic mammogram and ultrasound (Much more expensive). Once that was done I saw the breast surgeon the next day. I was told by the doctor that there was nothing irregular about my mammogram and ultrasound that I infact did NOT have cancer. The doctor asked me what is this "HerScan"? She had seen another patient within the last six weeks that this same scenario happened to them. Please DON'T waste your money with this service. Go to a reputable facility not a hotel, side hustle clinic, etc. The CD of the ultrasound that HerScan did was such a poor quality that my breast surgeon told me it was completely useless. Being a man I was a bit hesitant to even schedule a breast exam. Little did I know that men can get breast cancer too. I had developed a lump under my left arm that I needed to know what it was and didn't know what to do. I decided I needed a scan of my breasts which I now know also includes under the arm or arm pit. I scheduled an appt with Herscan at a location that they were coming to not far from me. The tech was great, very knowledgeable and helped me relax during the exam. It was fast and painless and I got my results within 5 days. My results showed a finding which requires a diagnostic mammogram. Apparently men can get these exams as well. That appointment is upcoming. I'm hoping for good news. read more

I had a breast screening by this company on April 11 in sugarland, tx. The tech was nice, but the entire experience was very shady. It was in a hotel tiny conference room and you went behind a curtain. The ultrasound machine was small and briefcase sized. 10 days later I received an email with very alarming results-category 4 findings suggesting I see a physician or breast center asap. Everything was extremely vague, leaving me to play google doctor to try to interpret the notes and analyzing the scans. I will say I received the scans quickly. I went to my gyno and basically got laughed at for even going to this company. He could see how distressed I was-I hadn't slept it days. He referred me to have a 3D mammogram and ultrasound at Memorial Herman. Extreme anxiety and worry took over my life until I was able to get in. The tech that did my mammogram at Memorial said "you didn't use Herscan did you? I see women all of the time that use them. All I can say is 'eye roll'" I guess the reputation in the Houston area is subpar. Memorial gives you the results of your scans immediately and they found nothing. They couldn't see what Herscan had noted. I was very relieved, but save yourself the unnecessary worry and go to a real breast center. Worst week of my life. read more
