I did make an appointment on their website tool so I was expected. The staff was fast, and attentive and made sure I knew what they did and why. But they made an error. As I started to drive off I could hear a clicking sound that got faster as I sped up like having a playing card on your bike spokes as a kid. And I knew exactly what it was, the tire balance weights were hitting the brake rotors. There was no way to hear it at 2-3 MPH when pulling in and out of a bay. I had not left the shopping center they are in, drove down to the next entrance, and started pulling back in. The young man who helped me ran out the door to see what was wrong and immediately heard the sound. He was quick to apologize and pulled me into an open bay. The manager came out to see what the fuss was and then he came and apologized to me as well. It was a minor fix, they missed that they (another Discount Tire location) had upgraded tires and wheels that were not the stock sizes and put on the stock weights for the original tires. They quickly pulled the tires, reinstalled the correct weights rebalanced the tires, and got me out fast. Other places would have pretended they didn't screw up or try to shift blame. They did not, they owned it, fixed it fast, and were humble and professional about getting me back on the road.

Adam, the service manager, greeted me very cheerfully and I explained my situation, including that I couldn't just leave the car and come back due to the distance. He put me very much at ease (as you can imagine I was pretty frazzled), got my info right away and summoned a technician to take my car to the work area. I was able to relax in air conditioned comfort and even got a free cup of coffee while waiting. Before long, it was announced that the culprit was a leaking valve, which they promptly fixed. It was $25. They also checked/filled the other tires. A couple of people came in to pick up their cars while I was waiting and several phone calls came in. Well good luck getting in to have your tires rotated with out dropping off you car. I even tried to make appointment and was told they wouldn't do that. So they basically sell you something that doesn't happen without a lot of hassle. It doesn't take long to rotate tires, but it doesn't generate income so they just blow you off and put you out hoping you will not take them up on it. Before they started, a service writer named Dalton called her telling her they can't do any work on the tires b/c they're older than 6 years old. He actually told her it was illegal to have tires that old, and that if she got pulled over the police would tow her car and she'd be left stranded. Basically he tried to incite a panic and then tried to pressure her to buy new tires there that day (suggesting the lowest tier options on the phone). She was on speaker and I quickly looked up the Ohio statutes; there is no such law. We had the shop finish the other items in the promotion (oil change and filter replacements). When we got there to pick up the car, we talked through the options for tires. So either he's incompetent or this was another lie and scare tactic to try and make a sale. It's a shame we had such a bad experience here this time. They replaced a tire sensor for us a few months prior (tires were still older than 6-years then!) and we had a great experience. It seems the quality of the staff there has taken a turn for the worst. I'd suggest trying another shop or location for more honest service.

So I'm happy I've found Christian brothers. They have been very transparent, have great service and fair pricing. The staff is constantly pleasant and responsive. We've taken several cars there and each time have received good service. Today was an oil change. I appreciate the free inspection to know what needs to be considered for future work. They also give photos of the items in question. The waiting area is always clean and comfortable. When I picked up the car there was a handwritten note thanking me for the business. In this day - any thank you note is an above and beyond gesture, but to have it hand written was a pleasant surprise. I will definitely continue to do business with them.
