I love supporting local bookstores, so I didn't even try to resist when I saw this store in Redmond. I'm so glad I stepped inside! It's bigger than I thought it would be, and the books were incredibly well curated. I had a hard time deciding what to buy, but was really happy with the book that I found (Mobituaries by Mo Rocca) because its cover was facing me. This store also has a nice selection of gifts, especially puzzles. The owner is very friendly, and there's even a bookstore cat! read more

If you're looking for a neighborhood bookstore with charm, wit, and the kind of staff that actually seem glad you walked in--even with wild, indecisive children in tow--Herringbone Bookstore is your spot. The owner (you'll know him by the majestic beard and Jedi-like calm) has created a space that feels more like the clubhouse of a literary wizard than a traditional store. My kids regularly burst in with chore money and vague intentions ("I want a cool book... or maybe a weird trinket... or both?"), and he always helps them find something they're excited about--usually tossing in a friendly discount and a bookmark like some benevolent book dragon guarding his hoard of stories and treasures. Then there's the store cat. Friendly. Regal. Frequently seen offering her belly like she's your new best friend--until she suddenly decides you've overstepped and smack, you've been chosen for sacrifice. My youngest considers her a highlight of every visit. Herringbone has an eclectic and well-curated mix: books (of course), LPs, mildly offensive candles that make great gifts (for the right people), a fun kids' corner with books and toys, and the owner is always happy to order something if it's not in stock. It's our go-to spot for birthday gifts, random literary whims, and just plain cozy vibes. Highly recommend. Just don't be fooled by the cat's exposed belly. You've been warned. read more

I love the variety this store has! I picked up funny bookmarks for my little book club gals and I know they will love them! read more

Herringbone Bookstore - The street - Bookstores Near Me - Redmond, Oregon

I was able to find a book I've been looking for at other stores all day, in good condition and a good price. My son was excited to come here to see the cat, who has a cat tree set up by the entrance and was very cute and friendly. There were a bunch of cute 3D printed bookmarks and keychains, so we grabbed 3 for $5. The man who checked us out was very friendly to our son and gave him a hi-chew and a Minecraft keychain for free. We will definitely be going back based on how warm and friendly our experience was. read more

Don't rely on their website to tell you what they do and do and do not have. I called a few times to no answer to ask, so then checked their website. Said they had the book i wanted in stock. Drove alllll the way over there to be told they didn't. Kind of annoying. Their website- you can tell - was made in like 1999 and not updated since. It's a cute place! A chubby little cat running around and tons of fun toys to choose from for the kids. It's warm and inviting- it feels like something from a hundred years ago. read more

Great book store. We were driving through and we always love a local book store. The gentleman that helped us was so kind and helpful. The place had a large selection. Although we didn't get to stay long we will be back because we really enjoyed it. Thank you ! read more

Visited Herrignbone Bookstore on my trip to Central Oregon. I used to frequent it as well when I lived there and have always loved the feel of this place. They have an amazing kids section, which my kids loved. They sat down and read through some books while I was browsing an amazingly organized fiction section for a book (or books) as well. The guy who was at the front was very personable and knew almost every single book in the place, the author, books that are similar and other books by the author as well. Seriously he was a walking Goodreads. I also overheard him telling a customer that if they don't have the book you are looking for in stock, he can usually get it in the next day. Please be sure to support this local bookstore - places like this are one in a million! read more

just the absolute best. service, selection, everything. i love bringing my daughters and letting them play while i get to look around at not only books but an amazing gift/home goods selection. read more

Great little bookstore in downtown Redmond. I took my two grandchildren to select a new book. The salesclerk introduced them to the resident cat which was a huge hit. After petting it first a bit, we wandered to the children's corner, with its huge stuffed animals ( super comfy to sit on) and a few quiet toys to discover. They each made their selection and were offered a candy upon departure. A great experience for them! I did not have the opportunity ( or time) to check out books for me this time but noticed they have a great variety. I will return soon! read more

Great bookstore. Good selection and staff are friendly and knowledgeable. Love the cat Minnie.

Such a great selection of books! The man checking us out was very knowledgeable about a variety of topics and had good insight into which books we would like by a particular author based on our interests. Very much had the feel of a cute downtown bookstore! read more

Great selection. Well edited recommendations. Found my new favorite book. Worth a visit.

I am visiting Redmond for work and the book I brought with me just wasn't captivating my attention like I wanted. I heard great reviews for Where the Crawdads Sing and stopped by to pick up this treasure. Brandon was so kind and helpful. He took me right to the last copy they had! The whole store was quaint and lovely. Having a lovely interaction with Brandon and the store, I was on my way home to start flipping the pages. Upon getting home I removed my receipt from the book and realized I paid less than I imagined and noticed Brandon gave me a small discount it's the little things! read more

This book store has a great children's section. My son saved his own money to get one of the Melissa and Doug educational toys. They even worked with him so that he was able to get what he want at a good price he could afford. I will definitely be back and so will my son, Thank you herringbone bookstore! read more

A wonderful and diverse indie bookstore for all genres. Engaged and informed owner-run store. Lots of local books. Great kids section. Well run and engaging. read more

This was just an ok/decent bookstore. I was again disappointed with the selection of books. When I think used bookstore I think vintage horror, lots of different books by different classic authors and this book store had nothing. And to top it off I was the only person in the store and at no time was i greeted or asked if I needed any help. I was walking around for like 30 minutes read more

Fantastic store! The man working was incredibly kind and very attentive. He looked up exactly what i was looking for and offered to purchase it for me to be delivered the next day. Very friendly and asked us about ourselves. He also asked us about our favorite authors and the genre we preferred- he knew about them pretty well and recommended new releases! We went on 8/14 if that's any help. I would come out of my way to go back to this store because of the fantastic service and appreciated the lovely selection of books, extensive knowledge and service. Definitely visit this store! 12/10! read more

For a small bookstore this spot has a great selection! The bookstore clerk (owner?) Brandon is also very helpful with offering ideas and recommendations. Would definitely recommend!! read more

Walked into the bookstore cold on a whim while touring Redmond, thinking about it as a place to live. The store store was bright with lots of clearly marked areas for different types of books and pleasant art above the shelves. Brandon was talking at length with someone when I came in, and when I checked out I started a conversation with him and enjoyed learning about his story and journey to the area. I found two eclectic books and my gf found a book and lovely journal. A small bookstore is a treasure, so keep Herringbone in business! read more

Ever since Brandon took over the bookstore feels even more homey if that's possible. He makes great suggestions for books, really is interested in his customers, and offers a great "credits" program so the more you buy, the more credits you earn! He can usually get any book ordered and delivered within 2-3 days, just as good as Amazon. Please make this place a regular stop on your weekly shopping and keep this independent bookseller thriving! read more

Another inviting independent bookstore! As I've said before, I love independent bookstores. I love how in general, they focus not only on the bestsellers, but on regional works as well as an eclectic collection of staff picks. I think in a small town market that this is wonderful, because in general you would be getting to know the employees and then you get to see a whole collection of books that you might have otherwise missed. I love how this bookstore displays the bestsellers, book club picks, but also finds a way to recomend some lesser known and less comercial authors. Great way to find a new adventure! The staff was quite lovely and helpful. This store definately has that small town "glad to see you" feel. A few cozy chairs placed in a couple of different areas makes it inviting to check out a few books while you are there. If you are in the area, please support this store! read more

This book store is worth the time to visit. They have a great variety of books. The owner is very knowledgeable and helpful. We ordered a book and had it shipped cheaper than we could get it from a big box store. Glad to support a small business. read more

This was right next to Green Plow, so we had to check it out. Located in a small town, this is such a cute, independent bookstore. Great selection of books--they even have a shelf based on the staff's picks. Even the children's section is filled with toys, kiddie books, puzzles and other games, little knick-knacks, crafty activities, etc. I like the fact that most of their hand-picked selections were focused on the great outdoors--hiking, nature literature, etc. If you're a bookworm and around the area, check Paulina Springs Books! read more

This is what a bookstore is all about in my book, forget about the big guys. Siblings Cynthia and Brad own and manage the store. Their our source for the book club and have been great with accomodating all requests. You can order books through them and they are there within days. Great service, great selection. I have really scored on the staff recommendations, especially in the kids' department. read more

It's great that we have a bookstore in Redmond, I never leave here empty handed. I've watched a lot of great businesses come and go from downtown over the years (27 years so far) and I'm glad we still have this one! read more

This is the kind of independent bookstore that every small town wishes they still had. Kaci, the owner, is there everyday and super helpful with recommendations and conversation. Herringbone is also way more than just books. They have all the board games that appeal to my geek side (which is about 85% of me) and little trinkets that make great gifts. Oh and we can't forget the unique selection of socks they have. The selection of Chivaz, another local Redmond brand, is awesome. Support your local bookstore!! read more

Without a doubt, the best bookstore in Central Oregon. For a small little shop it has a good selection from a wide variety of authors on the shelves. Best of all you can get some really little-known, obscure books too. I didn't ask the cashier, but I'm sure they can special order in whatever you want like any other bookstore, but you get to support the local economy when you go through them. I took several notes on books too purchase for my nephew's up coming birthday that I'm sure he'll like. Just a toss up between Legos and Star Wars related books. It was a pleasure visiting this establishment. read more

Great bookstore -- Although new their selection is great and growing. I remember visiting a independent bookstore in Sisters Oregon and after my visit in Redmond I was informed it was the same company. We purchased two travel books on the PNW and look forward to returning. Nice refreshing bookstore . read more

Great local bookstore! Kacie is super low key but friendly and helpful. Herringbone stocks a good assortment of titles, as well as games, some limited but good quality crafts and toys. This town needs this cute, little book store. It is located in the heart of downtown Redmond. They have a great selection for being fairly small. It is laid out so everything is easy to find. They offer all the newest releases and best sellers. I remember them selling some unique games and other items. Even if you are not looking to buy, it is a good spot to browse. read more

OK, I admit it. I'm usually one of those amazon.com shoppers that goes to a local bookstore to browse but refuses to pay full price for a book so I go home and buy it from amazon. But I will definitely be back to this store! They had a great selection of unique gifts, cards, toys, and books. They had the current best sellers but also a great regional selection, and used books too! The person working the counter (not sure if it was the owner) was very knowledgeable and helpful too. My husband and I both ended up making purchases, he got mostly books but I ended up with a book, a great wooden puzzle for my toddler, and a kitchen gadget for me! We'll be back! read more

Always helpful, and willing to search out that non-mainstream book. The store is full of lots of interesting titles and subjects - not the mass-market stuff of the big chains. The staff recommendations are truly helpful, and some of their personal tips have sent us into some super reading experiences. They seem to be able to get any book anytime, and quick. They are a tribute to what a local, independent bookstore can be. read more
