It's bigger than I thought it would be, and the books were incredibly well curated. I had a hard time deciding what to buy, but was really happy with the book that I found (Mobituaries by Mo Rocca) because its cover was facing me. I was able to find a book I've been looking for at other stores all day, in good condition and a good price. My son was excited to come here to see the cat, who has a cat tree set up by the entrance and was very cute and friendly. There were a bunch of cute 3D printed bookmarks and keychains, so we grabbed 3 for $5. The man who checked us out was very friendly to our son and gave him a hi-chew and a Minecraft keychain for free. We will definitely be going back based on how warm and friendly our experience was. read more

Don't rely on their website to tell you what they do and do and do not have. I called a few times to no answer to ask, so then checked their website. Said they had the book i wanted in stock. Drove alllll the way over there to be told they didn't. Kind of annoying. Their website- you can tell - was made in like 1999 and not updated since. It's a cute place! Visited Herrignbone Bookstore on my trip to Central Oregon. I used to frequent it as well when I lived there and have always loved the feel of this place. They have an amazing kids section, which my kids loved. They sat down and read through some books while I was browsing an amazingly organized fiction section for a book (or books) as well. The guy who was at the front was very personable and knew almost every single book in the place, the author, books that are similar and other books by the author as well. Seriously he was a walking Goodreads. I also overheard him telling a customer that if they don't have the book you are looking for in stock, he can usually get it in the next day. Great little bookstore in downtown Redmond. I took my two grandchildren to select a new book. The salesclerk introduced them to the resident cat which was a huge hit. After petting it first a bit, we wandered to the children's corner, with its huge stuffed animals ( super comfy to sit on) and a few quiet toys to discover. They each made their selection and were offered a candy upon departure. A great experience for them! I did not have the opportunity ( or time) to check out books for me this time but noticed they have a great variety. I will return soon! read more

I am visiting Redmond for work and the book I brought with me just wasn't captivating my attention like I wanted. I heard great reviews for Where the Crawdads Sing and stopped by to pick up this treasure. Brandon was so kind and helpful. He took me right to the last copy they had! The whole store was quaint and lovely. Having a lovely interaction with Brandon and the store, I was on my way home to start flipping the pages. Upon getting home I removed my receipt from the book and realized I paid less than I imagined and noticed Brandon gave me a small discount it's the little things! read more

Fantastic store! The man working was incredibly kind and very attentive. He looked up exactly what i was looking for and offered to purchase it for me to be delivered the next day. Very friendly and asked us about ourselves. He also asked us about our favorite authors and the genre we preferred- he knew about them pretty well and recommended new releases! We went on 8/14 if that's any help. Walked into the bookstore cold on a whim while touring Redmond, thinking about it as a place to live. The store store was bright with lots of clearly marked areas for different types of books and pleasant art above the shelves. Brandon was talking at length with someone when I came in, and when I checked out I started a conversation with him and enjoyed learning about his story and journey to the area. I found two eclectic books and my gf found a book and lovely journal. A small bookstore is a treasure, so keep Herringbone in business! read more

He makes great suggestions for books, really is interested in his customers, and offers a great "credits" program so the more you buy, the more credits you earn! He can usually get any book ordered and delivered within 2-3 days, just as good as Amazon. Another inviting independent bookstore! As I've said before, I love independent bookstores. I love how in general, they focus not only on the bestsellers, but on regional works as well as an eclectic collection of staff picks. I think in a small town market that this is wonderful, because in general you would be getting to know the employees and then you get to see a whole collection of books that you might have otherwise missed. I love how this bookstore displays the bestsellers, book club picks, but also finds a way to recomend some lesser known and less comercial authors. Great way to find a new adventure! The staff was quite lovely and helpful. This store definately has that small town "glad to see you" feel. This was right next to Green Plow, so we had to check it out. Located in a small town, this is such a cute, independent bookstore. Great selection of books--they even have a shelf based on the staff's picks. Even the children's section is filled with toys, kiddie books, puzzles and other games, little knick-knacks, crafty activities, etc. I like the fact that most of their hand-picked selections were focused on the great outdoors--hiking, nature literature, etc. If you're a bookworm and around the area, check Paulina Springs Books! read more

Herringbone is also way more than just books. They have all the board games that appeal to my geek side (which is about 85% of me) and little trinkets that make great gifts. Without a doubt, the best bookstore in Central Oregon. For a small little shop it has a good selection from a wide variety of authors on the shelves. Best of all you can get some really little-known, obscure books too. I didn't ask the cashier, but I'm sure they can special order in whatever you want like any other bookstore, but you get to support the local economy when you go through them. I took several notes on books too purchase for my nephew's up coming birthday that I'm sure he'll like. Just a toss up between Legos and Star Wars related books. OK, I admit it. I'm usually one of those amazon.com shoppers that goes to a local bookstore to browse but refuses to pay full price for a book so I go home and buy it from amazon. But I will definitely be back to this store! They had a great selection of unique gifts, cards, toys, and books. They had the current best sellers but also a great regional selection, and used books too! The person working the counter (not sure if it was the owner) was very knowledgeable and helpful too. My husband and I both ended up making purchases, he got mostly books but I ended up with a book, a great wooden puzzle for my toddler, and a kitchen gadget for me! We'll be back! read more
