Bathroom tile project.

Francisco did a perfect job, cleaned up well, good communication, and friendly. On time too. I highly recommend him.

Francisco was very professional and responsive. He re-tiled a small area near my front door. His work is high quality and he left the space very clean. I will definitely reach out to him again for future tiling projects.

Just wow!!!! My wife and I just had some tile done in our bathroom and Fransisco was SOOOO great! 10/10!!!!! Professional, communicative, very reasonable, quick, clean, and incredible attention to detail. Truly superb work!!! Highly recommend if anyone is looking!

Francisco is my tile guy for life. He and his helper did great work at a competitive price. He leveled 2 concrete bedrooms, removed wood flooring in closet, tiled the floor, and installed matching baseboard tile trim. And the kicker is he did this with uneven and warped tiles made in the USA, which turned out to be junk tiles. My mistake from buying tiles on Facebook but lesson learned! Always measure the tiles and make sure they are not warped! I have 2 bathrooms he can conquer next year when I'm ready.

I appreciated how clean he kept the workspace and for keeping the health and safety of my family a top priority. I highly recommend you consider Soma Tile for your next project! I would not hesitate in referring them to anyone looking for bath and tile work!! Preface: Let me start this tale with some background. This project was not an exciting "Lets update our 20 year old bathroom and make it stylish and pretty". Instead the project started due to an undetected leak, the stress that comes from random water leaking in random places, and was filled with questions and concerns. Countless others "assured" me that this was a plumbing issue or just due to some neglected maintenance on a 5 year old new-install shower - and then wanted to blast holes everywhere to "find" the leak. At the same time, I did not want to rip apart a shower to then find out it might be plumbing and now a full on repair. I felt overwhelmed in making the wrong choice and doing 2 projects chasing my tail. Lucas walked me through all the typical scenarios that he has seen, leaning on the most probably is a structural fail of the shower system and then did a methodical exploration. A couple hours later and a minimal demo, he confirmed that it was in fact not plumbing related and was def. a failure of the shower system -- and walked me through what it would take. Once his team was onsite, they were focused - creating a whole "clean room" at the entry to the bathroom. 1 day demo, 1 day water-proof, 2 days tile - all while providing the proper time for dry-out and leak testing between steps. Lucas is a perfectionist, being critical on the most minor details -- which to someone that also strives for this level, but has no idea what they are looking for, was very much appreciated. Additionally, he has instilled this value in his team - that are true craftsman with their skill. Each step of the process was walked through, discussed, and made sure we understood the task, goal, and expectations. This is why I say Lucas/Soma Tile was a true partner in this project, as it wasn't a fun project -- it was an overwhelming stressful start where Soma Tile helped take some of the burden and concerns off our shoulders and work it through with their own expertise, experience, and dedication - ensuring every step was executed with precision. Soma Tile knows their craft - Lucas is a partner, his team are craftsman. Huge Thanks to Lucas, Jesus, and Miguel -- not to forget Jose who magically appeared on the last day to leave the place spotless.

I would say the sales reps are a little hit or miss. One person seemed super design focused, the other didn't seem to get my vision of "clean and modern" and suggested a couple options that were not in line with what I was showing preference for. Additionally, I felt the process to actually buy the tile is quite slow. Something to note is that just because there is tile on the sales floor, that doesn't mean it is in stock or available, sometimes the sales reps aren't even aware of it until they key in the tile. Luckily we got there before a rush of people that seemed to come after lunchtime.

They recommended the amount extra and then they charge you to return it, so be warned. They are out to get you with fees, fees, fees. 3) They claim that part of the restocking fee is to "repackage" items. Some of the tile we ordered wasn't even boxed, just bound together with plastic straps and chipped. We returned items in their original, already beaten-up boxes, so this was bogus. 4) If they say they can have items delivered, watch out. We had shower curbs delivered unprotected in the trunk of a person's car, and the majority of our $8K of supplies delivered in the open bed of a pickup truck unprotected and with items hanging out the back of the truck. Unlikely to return despite the very nice salesperson.

You know, the ones where they show the before and after of a kitchen, bathroom, etc.? It always looks so easy on TV, and they miraculously get everything done within the hour! Real life ain't like that, folks. Every home improvement task we have attempted has taken way longer than we thought, and cost way more money than we had planned. Sure, you still save over hiring a contractor, and there is that feeling of satisfaction when all is said and done. But realistically, those HGTV shows edit out a lot of blood, sweat and tears. And cost overruns. Anyhow, I'm getting off subject. We look to save money on materials whenever we do home improvement. Plus, I try to support anybody other than the local Big Box stores. You know, the ones that seem to have a monopoly on EVERYTHING home related. (I'm talking to you Home Depot) They usually have lousy customer service, to boot. Well APEX flooring is just the opposite of those big box stores. Easily located off the Dan Ryan in Pilsen, they have a private parking lot attached. The store is small and easily navigated, but packed with a large assortment of floor coverings, including ceramic, wood, cork, and others. Lowell, the owner, is pleasant, friendly and a joy to deal with; he's also extremely knowledgeable concerning flooring and it's installation. I found their prices to be extremely competitive, and they even have some of their most popular tiles in stock, which is fantastic. Choosing and purchasing our new kitchen tile was such a pleasant experience at APEX, I can't wait to finish our kitchen remodel and figure out what home improvement project we can tackle next! [ just don't tell my husband that yet; give him a chance to recover ; ) ]

He was courteous, professional, and respectful of our home throughout the entire process. Jonathan repaired the caulking and grout in our shower, bathroom floor, and around our double sinks, and the results are amazing. Everything looks like new! He completed the work within the timeframe he promised, thoroughly cleaned the work area before leaving, and paid close attention to every detail. I was genuinely overjoyed with both the quality of the work and the entire customer experience. Julian and Jonathan make an outstanding team, and their commitment to customer service and craftsmanship is evident.
