I had a leather appointment with the Hermes boutique. In my appointment i explained everything to was looking for. Appointment was approved for the day/time with a leather goods SA. Showed up on time only to be told they had zero stock and basically blew me off. Why they accepted my appointment knowing this pissed me off as it wasted everyone's time. BEWARE*** THEY LOST MY ITEM***** I have nothing short of an awful experience at this Hermes shop. They took in a cashmere scarf that had a small snag to repair. I wanted to have this shipped back to me but was told they do not ship repairs to client's homes. They then proceeded to ship MY item to a client's home in California and for the last 2 months have told me they are trying to get it back but are waiting for "client" to comply. This was not a new item. It was purchased years prior and has sentimental value. In two months time, only one manager - Steven managed to call me back to "fill me in" on where my item went. Still no one has been able to locate/get my item. I'm now forced to pursue legal action. HERMES IS SUPPOSED TO LEAD THE WORLD IN LUXURY SERVICE BUT THEY ARE AWFUL.I WILL NEVER BUY HERMES AFTER THIS EXPERIENCE. read more

I waited until I had a second Hermès experience (at a different location) before I wrote a review of my experience here. I did this because I wanted to see if the way my visit went here was consistent for the brand or just a one-off. Now that I have two visits under my (non-Hermès) belt, here we go. One of my friends is a frequent flyer at Hermès - she doesn't usually shop at this location but we were in the area after some socializing and we decided to stop in. I'm don't get too caught up in labels, but I thought it would be fun to at least take a peek. This location is definitely in a trendy area - and while we did have to wait outside before being let in, it wasn't too long. Once inside, we were told a SA would be with us shortly - while we waited we decided to browse. The store is a decent size - everything is beautifully placed and really gives off that ultra-luxury aesthetic. We eventually made our way to the second floor where shoes and mens products were - my friends was looking at the shoes and I actually eyed something that spoke to me: one of their Clic H bracelets. It had a simple design, but also let you know it was Hermès due to the signature H in the center. Eventually a SA found us - most of his energy was on my friend since we used her account when checking in at the door. After she was taken care of, I decided to inquire about the bracelet. He took it out for me to look at, but before I could make a decision he started speaking to my friend again. After their convo ended, he didn't really acknowledge me and said he was gonna put the bracelet back. However, I *wanted* the bracelet, and stopped him to let him know that I was going to make the purchase. After that, we all went downstairs where he checked me out (again, not really focusing on me) and quickly told me how to open and secure the bracelet - stressing that if I did it wrong they would have to send it back to Paris to fix and it would be a big thing. Now, I love the bracelet - I have no buyers remorse and will definitely be rocking it on special occasions. However, the customer service experience I got at this Hermès was really unsatisfactory. If this was a typical mid-level department store I wouldn't care, but it's not - and customer service should be some of the best in the industry. Also, I (sort of) get it - I don't have a history of shopping at Hermès so they don't know my spending patterns. However, this SA didn't grab the opportunity to possibly attain a new client. Instead, he barely made an effort to accommodate me, rushed through how to open and close the bracelet, and focused on the negatives of what would happen if I broke it. I felt like Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman, minus the patent leather thigh-high boots. Anyway, I actually visited another Hermès recently and had a much better experience, so my view of the brand isn't totally tarnished. However, for a first impression this wasn't good - and I'll think twice about returning here. read more

Do not buy fragrances from them. Hermes sells old and possibly counterfeit bottles that have little to no noticeable scent and won't issue refunds. So you know how you put something in your cart online and think to yourself "...do I really want this? I think I do...?" and then you leave it in the cart for a few days--as if it'll magically appear at your door and ask whether you were serious or not. You know what I'm talking about. But, of course, when finally you've decided "OK I REALLY DO WANT IT", you come back to the cart and it's not there. You realize the thing you wanted has already sold out because other people in the world are not indecisive like you and when they want something, they go and get it. That's when you REALLY want it--the moment you realize you can't have it. So I called a few different Hermès locations to see if they had this particular item and everyone I spoke to at the different locations was generally patient and helpful--but none of them had the item. Sold out! Except there was this one person, at the meatpacking branch...my Hermès heroine, Ms. Miles. At the meatpacking branch they took my number and said they'd get back to me if anything turned up. I just thought it was a formality and had resigned myself to not having this particular item (I hesitate to say what exactly I was pining after...it's none of your beeswax). Anyway, to my surprise, I got a text message from a rep at the store, Miles, who...like some sort of stylish detective...tracked it down and made arrangements to have it delivered. Miles stayed on the case for nearly a month! Through Thanksgiving and Black Friday and all that madness. She kept in touch and was kind and friendly and helpful. Honestly, Miles seems like a special kind of person and completely surprised me with the lengths she was willing to go to help me track down this thing I had my heart set on. So yeah. RACIST I always stop by an Hermès while on vacation. I waited 20 minutes for a sales associate. The sales associate Miles was very rude from the beginning. I wanted to look at the twillys and scarf rings and she rudely told me to look online or try Hermès Madison. If I wanted to shop online or at another store I wouldn't have walked in! I wanted to look at a lizard Calvi and when I turned around she was gone. She stopped assisting me to help a White customer without so much as a goodbye or explanation. I 100% believe it had to do with my race and will never shop at this location again. Sure enough while reading the store's reviews, I'm not the only Mexican that was discriminated against. I walked into this Hermes at 1pm on a week day to buy a blanket and tea set for my parents. It would take them 10mins max to make thousands dollars of sale revenue. The reception told me there were 3 customers in line, so I had to wait. I went upstairs, browsed for a few mins then sat down waiting. Clearly this is a "super busy" store. There were about 5 customers in the store. I waited for 30mins, no one came to greet me or offer any drinks. While they brought water to other white customers. It is not acceptable. I can get better customer service in grocery shops. I like Hermes, they do have some great products. However, this store is ridiculous. Clearly the manager does not know not everyone needs to speak with a specialist for an hour to make decision. There are many people like me who already know what they need and just want to grab and go. I had the worst shopping experience I had in my life with Elysia at this location. I often go to Hermes for gifts for my friends and clients and have been a long time customer in New York local yet this woman treated me like I was stupid from the very beginning because I am Asian. Looking down and laughed and kept showing attitude. Also he got no knowledge about products or maybe she was pretending because she didn't want to well me anything. I want to buy a gift for my girlfriend last minute before a trip tomorrow. I need to pick it up today. Can't find out if it's in stock at the store by phone because they won't let you talk to in store associates, and the central call center can't help because Hermes apparently doesn't have a functional inventory management or ERP system in 2023 despite LVMH being a publicly traded company with 68% gross margin and 30% EBITDA margin. I can't buy through the website because it says my IP address is blocked because it thinks my clicking indicates I'm a robot. Even if I could buy through the site and I did next day, next morning delivery for a $70 up charge, I'm told by the hotline that it may not arrive the next morning if FedEx has issues as "it's not our fault if FedEx has a delay." I check to see if there's an app I can buy from - nope. I see the earliest appointment slot at the Meatpacking store is 6 hours later. I decide instead to physically travel to the store hoping the item is in stock. They don't have the right color but I can see an OK second choice in the window of a display. All I want to do is quickly buy and run back as I am very busy. That said, nobody can help me checkout and purchase because there is a 40 minute wait and four people ahead of me to speak to a specialist - yet I watch as the employees slowly lounge about through the store. I see another person walk in who is busy who just wants to buy an item quickly, which she knows is in stock. She's told the same as me that she needs to wait. She pleads and they make an exception, and she gets to check out as I continue waiting. Whoever manages this store is clearly doing a poor job with the labor staffing model. Add more people or reallocate staff from another store that's less busy. Or allow the greeter guy to open the cabinet and check people out if they just need to buy quickly and don't need to chit chat with a "specialist." I hope a regional manager sees this review and makes a change. To see there's a problem, all you have to do is look at the appointment slots which are full and look at the reviews. I'm sure the front line employees will tell you they have this issue frequently. Hermes loves to make it exceptionally hard to buy their products. The goods are nice but there are some serious management problems that need to be addressed. You're leaving money on the table operating this way and providing a very poor customer experience. This unnecessary friction means I will shop elsewhere. read more

Rudest sales I have ever met in the US. She showed up with a big frown from the very beginning. My friend and I were trying to ask her some questions about some products and she appeared annoyed the whole time answering in one or two words that were not even relevant. Took a friend here who travelled all the way from Florida to purchase their goods. Instead of walking out of here happy and content, our family friend was despondent and discriminated. You know that feeling when you don't know what you did to garner such a nasty treatment? That's what she got. The sales associates here at 7:30 pm on December 18, 2019 are as horrendous as the stench from Chamber street J train station. Came to this location pre-Christmas to buy a present as their uptown store remained closed for some undisclosed reason. There was a line of about 8 or 9 people which I presumed would move swiftly. Almost an hour later, I'm still in line waiting. The girl in jogging gear in front of me started to shiver in the cold - she had possibly made the same error of judgment, thinking she could pick up some stuff after her work out and be in and out. From the outside looking in, I counted about a dozen employees but could barely see any customers and three male employees were conducting an impromptu photoshoot of each other with their iPhones. When it was my turn to go in, I was shown another waiting area inside. If there was a wait to wait inside, surely they could have let their valued customers wait inside as the outside has near-zero temperature? Another 10 or 15 mins passed and finally I was seen by an SA who seemed to have tremendous difficulty locating merchandise in the store. A bag she showed me was DIRTY on the bottom (not just dusty, but DIRTY, as if someone had dragged it 5 blocks down the sidewalk) and the scarf I eventually purchased required a government ID! Hermès' US CEO Robert Chavez said that Hermes had chosen the meatpacking location to capture "the next generation of Hermès clients". Well, I am the next generation of Hermès clients, and I find this meatpacking location to be the worst Hermès store I have ever been to and possibly one of the worst retail experiences I've had since the start of Covid. read more

Love it. Playful and happy while still managing to avoid a plebeian approach. A luxurious vibe is distilled throughout the store which remains approachable for those who love art in Hermes object form. The sneaker shod staff is knowledgeable and sometimes the service level can seem overly casual but I'll trade warm and humble over stuffy any day. Being offered a beverage without prompting while being awkwardly followed around and stared at (as in other stores) cannot compete with the genuinely genial interaction you will find here. The store itself lets in a generous amount of natural light which allows the products to be seen as they are, which are no less beautiful on the street or in the home than they are at first glance on the shelf. I've had better customer service at a Walmart. I went to the store on a Saturday afternoon just to browse. I was asked when I entered if I needed any help and was offered a drink. So far, so good. I saw a belt strap I liked in a different size and went back to the person at the front door to ask if they had that strap in another size. The person told me I also needed a buckle, I told her that I already had one and just needed the strap. She referred me to another person who would help me. The other person (who was standing right next to us) totally ignored the situation, and it took a bit of awkward silence for the other person to react. I was told yet again I needed a buckle, I told again I already had one and that I was actually wearing it at that moment. Then we went upstairs to see the belt. The person tried to check in their phone if they had it in another size. Their app didn't work and she told me she had to go to the back to see if they had it. I waited for quite a bit for yet a third person who asked me what I needed. I explained for a third time that I just wanted to get a strap I was holding in my hand in another size. The person then checked her system, and told me that they didn't have it and that it was sold out (by the way she was the only polite and professional employee). I don't think at Zara you have to speak with that many people and wait for that long to buy just one single thing that you already selected. I dropped my watch off here for a repair, and explicitly told the sales staff it was not for a watch replacement but a full service. They don't/won't ship your repair back to you (although they ship from the boutique to wherever the repair takes place so?) Fine, a friend who lives close can pick it up as I live 3.5 hours away. I am not given an order number but am told that I will be contacted prior to any work being performed so they can give me an exact price and I can authorize it. I do not hear back from staff for three weeks. I called twice, each time saying "The repair people haven't gotten to it yet. We will email you a reference number so you have it." Nothing. Two days ago I get an email that my watch is done. Done? I wasn't even notified of the repair or a price. I val the boutique and am told it is $65 for a battery replacement. I tell the salesperson that is explicitly NOT what i dropped it off for. She says, "They're's nothing here saying you did not want a battery replacement." I guess stating it multiple times while dropping it off doesn't count? Extremely unprofessional. I was patronized over the phone that I had not used a Hermès battery for a prior replacement. Not sure what I'm supposed to do considering the closest store is 3.5 hours away and you won't ship my repair like other shops, thinking of Cartier, will. Cannot recommend buying any Hermès product after that experience. They want to sell your their shit but not to help you take care of it so it has a long life. read more

Don't visit or purchase anything from this store. Their staff is unorganized and I was discriminated because of my race. The host took my name and told me an associate would assist. I waited over one hour seeing people who just walked in get assistance- what about me????? Is it because I'm Asian and the customer being served are Caucasian? I finally went down to the host - he said "oh I thought you were being assisted by Debra (or Deborah)" I said no I've been waiting - he apologized and had this older gentleman to assist - by that time I was already on the phone with Hermes having them check the inventory with the other stores. I instead went to the Financial district location and was assisted quickly and professionally (how it should be) and bought my 2 hermes pillows from that store. Came in here on a particularly humid day, the store ac was so low that i wasn't even sure if they had it on, they could clearly see me fanning myself and didn't even offer a water smh. The sales associates here are absolutely miserable. No one smiles, no one (except the security guy) smiles, no one asks what you're in there looking for; overall just a gloomy place to be. I was also told I couldn't go upstairs, at first not thinking anything of it (maybe remodeling, who knows)... after about 10 I see 2 customers coming downstairs and I'm thinking wtf. So I go up anyway and the sales associate sees me and kind of rolls eyes...whatever I let it go. Fast forward as I was making a purchase, the Asian guy went to the back to box/bag my stuff and I could hear the Asian chick talk about how annoyed she was by the lady she just finished a transaction with (she was ahead of me) something about making her pull out "so many colors" of x item and then only purchasing 3... that lady spent more money in those than most people make in one month. I doubt they realized I heard but I kept my mouth shut ANYway... Even if I hadn't heard that, I'd still never return to this location just based on the misery in their faces. I only did cause 5th ave didn't have a specific item I was looking for. To the sales people: if you're going to gossip about people, do it the break room like every other place or suck it up and look for another job because someone else dying for the position you're in. I made an appointment two days ahead to make sure no time is wasted. I arrived early because my earlier appointment ended early. i was welcomed as I entered the store and I told her I have an appointment with Debra Schept and I was early so I had time to look around and left at peace enjoying the beautiful things. When Debra was free she looked for me and I told her what i needed; I can tell i was speaking to a very experienced SA, She could tell I gave a wrong size and quickly brought two sizes for me to try, she has a very good eye I could tell right away. I told her I wanted traditional. She also helped me find a gift and i got a beautiful scarf she showed me, wonderful taste im surprised she knew what to show me. Oh and i almost forgot the receipt they corrected because the Madison store messed up. As I was waiting for vehicle to pick me up i had more time to browse, and another SA approached to see if I was helped because I was already carrying two bags, they were attentive this store. i enjoyed my visit here! read more

They admitted me a few minutes after they had closed (!!) and the products I had requested were waiting for me. My sales associate Vanessa was extremely kind and helpful. This is the absolute worst Hermès location I have ever been too! I have been a customer of Hermès for years now and own a couple Clic H Bracelets and belts and when I walked into this location I immediately began to be followed around by the stores security guard! I am 19 and Mexican but I was wearing a lot of H products. The entire time he followed me and my friends around as we looked at bracelets and we didn't even make it up to the second floor because I got so offended that I had to leave. If this is how you treat a customer at this location, I'll take my business up to the Madison Avenue store. read more
