Definitely my favorite park to attend. There is something different to do every week.

Hermann park has so much to offer: multiple playgrounds, kiddie water park, train, gardens and more. Unfortunately, it's intolerably filthy. We are new to Houston and have visited the park at least 8 times in the last month. Every time I have been disgusted by the trash overflowing in trash cans and lying everywhere. We really want to come here more but are going to explore other options in the area. The park loses three stars for me having to pick up other people's trash before my son plays on the playground. read more

Great park! We got married here! We love coming on the weekends for a nice long walk. Great place for families and dogs!

Absolutely love this park. Living in down town can tottally consume you in it's crazy ways but hermann park brings you back to reality and allows you to enjoy the finner things in life. I recently took a trip to memorial park and was totally disappointed, hermann park litterally blows it out of the water! Best part of it all is just how mellow the ducks and squirls are, be sure to bring plenty of bread because their ready to eat! read more

Hermann Park is the most visited and beautiful park in Houston, Texas. It has many things to do for the kids and adults. e.g. boating, choo-choo train, picnic area, playgrounds, gardens, water fountains, trails, etc. It's worth spending time for your family relaxing there. Sometimes it's hard to find parking space if you go there in late morning or afternoon. I found a small hidden parking lot and shared the detail information in youishare. read more

Hermann Park houses the zoo, a golf course, the Museum of Natural Science, and so on; not quite sure. There are ducks, an artificial lake for paddle boating, a Japanese garden, a mini-train, little water stuff for kids around the park, and so on. Anyway, it's a big chunk of land. It's pretty nice, but the lack of elevation--it's not a park to hike around, I think--bored me after a while. Plus the whirring helicopters from the Medical Center got to me after a while. read more

This is a very nice park. It's been high on the to-do list for a while now--Kelly wandered by it accidentally and has been dying to return since. We checked it out this past Saturday in the serious heat before the storm. The heat could do nothing however to diminish the charm of this park. A trolley can take you around the park, the fountains are tranquil and attractive, rabbits and squirrels dart across the walkways, the pools are filled with kids wading and splashing, turtles floating in the "reflecting" pool, ducks that look like turkeys under benches...oh and an outdoor area to see free performances (Miller Outdoor Theatre)... everything I love about a park. read more

This park has everything. An amphitheater, a Japanese garden, a man made pond that rents paddle boats on weekends, 2 running trails, a couple cool fountains, a golf course, plenty of open space for sports, an actual park with swings and stuff for kids, a zoo, a train ride and i'm sure there's more that I'm missing. The Museum of natural science is just across the street. This is really a gem nestled in the center of the city that many people may drive by but don't take advantage of. Great place to visit when you are in the area. Our family visits the park when we visit the museums that are around this location. They also have the Miller Theater, interesting reflecting pools and lots of shady areas with lots of trees to relax. The train ride is a nice way to get an idea of the whole park very quickly and the paddle boats are a lot of fun even though its a somewhat small space, kids will love it. If you are in the area make sure to stop by and check it out! read more

Hermann Park... how you've grown up! The ugly duckling has transformed into the beautiful swan. If you haven't been to the park in the past 10+ years don't expect the mosquito infested mud pit where you once terrorized ducks as a child. What can you expect? The brainchild of urban planners, building and landscape architects, horticulturist, the Hermann Park Conservancy, etc, etc... At the park you can admire the fruition of all those incredible ideas and hard work. What can you do at the park? Check this out: 1) A newly paved hike and bike trail that stretches around the outer perimeter of the park, 2) a new, gorgeous, and totally improved train station + system of stops around the park, 3) the addition of "Little Bigs" restaurant at the train station depot, 4) incredible art placed around the park and hidden gems in the pavement, 5) a totally revamped pond with a fountain with all new paddle boats, 6) a secluded island for the water fowl, 7) natural grasslands and reforestation areas, 8) a gorgeous new reflecting pool, 9) private seating areas around the park, 9) picnic areas, 10) a splash pad for the kiddos, 11) a Japanese garden that is finally beginning to mature, 12) the great hill that will always remain near and dear to my heart, and 13) the fantastic Miller Outdoor Theater where you can always catch a free performance of something. Modern, gorgeous, inspiring... Hermann Park is all grown up and ready for the world. PS: I heard a rumor that the next phase of development would occur at the botanical garden across the street. Really beautiful place. Japanese gardens is a cool place to spend some time. Over all a good place to spend time with family and children.

Memories...so many memories, well not too many. Go here for fireworks show for the last two years, the first year was nice, the second year, this past recent year, of course, was eh... I remember I even volunteered here years ago as well and lol I was the only volunteer here, after hearing they were in dire need, I wanted to do my part to help out, I think it was years ago after the hurricane. This was actually the first park, and even volunteering here was pleasant, no one really honked at me, except for oddly an ambulance truck..hmmmm.... even employees drove by and served me lemonade and all, they have this little rest hut....one which I would hope they would have more though.... -A small little bridge to look upon the greens of our land -A golf course, where I can easily get knocked out -A bench to rest on -A long little bumpy trail -fresh green grass, not to clean though if you're a grass nut -fireworks display -the small hhut where you can have meetings and use the restroom and -talk for any park events -in the med center -near the freeway, but not too close -right next to the powerful Houston Zoo -its nice, not the best, but for being in the med center and so close to so much with easy access...I love it. read more

Hermann Park is a good park for kids as well as adults. There are a couple playgrounds on the park grounds, paddle boats, as well as a train that takes you on a ride around the park. It is located close to the Houston Zoo so that is another advantage of the parks location. read more

Had such a wonderful time here today. Got on the train ride with my family and had a snack at the park as well. I think I'd much rather have a picnic if possible since I wasn't so thrilled with my veggie wrap and they actually completely forgot to make hubby's chicken sandwich. Nonetheless it's an expansive and really wonderful park that I need to go more often. Can't wait to bike there soon. read more

Great park just keeps getting better

my favorite park in Houston. Plenty of jogging trails, picnic spots, and activities.

Cute little train ride that really shows you how large and divese this park is. As you leave the train depot you are treated to wondeful views of the city and the park. You make a few stops to pick up riders but the last stop we made was near a very public interesection with a large group of homeless who were partying and smoking weed. It wasn't really great as the train was full of little kids. The train takes you throug a cute little indoor building that has all sorts of colorful murals and mirrors. read more

My family and I visited Hermann Park recently while on vacation in Houston. This place is so beautiful! I love the big oak trees that are throughout the park. It is great for a run or walk, the zoo is there, and it is right next to the museum district. Parking is free too, which I could not believe. I parked here on a Sunday morning and ran through park of the park and on the Rice University Running trail, which is across the street. My family and I visited the zoo and walked around the park on a couple of occasions during our vacation. If I lived in Houston, I would make a point to go here often. If you are visiting Houston, I would highly recommend this for a place to visit on your trip. read more

I remember going here alot as a kid. Its the best park in Houston hands down! There is always something to do from the zoo, taking in a play at miller outdoor theatre, fishing in the lake, golf and train rides for kids. during the summer months the zoo has kids classes that let the youngsters get hands on. Another great thing about this park is that its next to all the museums. This area is great and kid friendly. read more

Great park with a variety of settings, including large grassy areas, lakeside benches, architectural elements, a japanese garden and, of course, miller outdoor theatre. Its large enough that it is never crowded. read more

Best place in Houston. It and the surrounding area are the most compelling argument for Houston's inner-loop.

I love this park! It's located smack dab in the middle of Houston and it houses the Houston zoo and museums! The park has bbq pits, walking trails, golf, museums, train rides, and a really neat Japanese tea garden read more

This park is one of my favorite places to go in Houston. It's pretty big has many sights to see and lots of seating areas and greenery. Great place to go for walk or just relax and take in the sights. The Japanese garden is impressive, I love the exotic plants and fish. The park usually has a pretty good amount of people on the weekends but never really feels packed since there is so much area. Overall it is an awesome park! read more

I love Hermann Park! It's a great place to run, walk, and spend time with loved ones!! People often take senior photos, engagement photos, wedding photos, etc. here. This park is very dog friendly as well. Herman Park is a fun place to go when the weather is not super hot! read more

This star is for the Hermann Park splash pad located near the Japanese garden and across the street from Rice University area. I was disappointed to say the least. The splash pad was dirty with litter everywhere and kids and families where there enjoying the splash pad. But I must say the area looked dirty and the equipment was dingy and looked unkept. I'm somewhat surprised at all the money and funds that goes to conserving this area yet the splash pad looks, dirty, dingy and too small to accommodate kids. Don't be fooled by the picture they show on their website. We left and took our kids to discovery green. read more

Having grown up so close to there, Hermann Park became an integral part of my childhood. It is a delightful place to walk. The reflecting pond is lovely. Although the new version of what used to be a very charming rose garden turned out to be a disappointment -- it's new ziggurat design looks quite sterile by comparison -- over all, the area still manages to give a sense of history to our city. This park is big and clean, we enjoyed the Japanese Festival, quite fan. I love the Miller outdoor theater, great design.

Love taking the kids here. It's a great spot for a picnic with lots of things for the kids to see and do.

My favorite park in Houston! It has such a Central Park feeling since its in the middle of tall buildings. First, the running trails are great and there's always people around so its kind of motivating. Second, Miller theater. I love Miller theater. It's free, it's fun and there's so many different shows, plays etc.. It's usually in the evenings so take your blanket, munchies, and a BUNCH of bug spray. Third, it's a great family fun. You can bring a blanket and have a picnic, go to the zoo, science museum, McGovern gardens or the Japanese gardens. read more
